Waiting time for surgery longer than expected, chose George elliot as the average waiting time was 22 weeks , now 24 and just got an appointment for pre op tests for January which will be 36 weeks and then still no Date for hernia operation , nhs app still says average waiting time 22 weeks , this must be untrue .

Review titled Rudeness and abuse
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Disappointed - Posted on 09 August 2024
The previous 2 aapontments with urology have been very positive experiences. I was hoping that George Eliot Hospital had finally left its poor reputation in the past. Disappointingly my bad experience today has proved the opposite. We arrived at 11am for the appointment. A vlounteer at the hospital entrance helpfully pointed us in the correct direction for the Community Diagnostic Centre. Upon enering the main reception the 2 receptionists completely ignored me. When the receptionist finally acknowledged me it was by addressing me as "lovee". I did ask her not to address me as such. I advised the name and time of the appointment and was asked for the letter. I advised that the appointment was advised by phone. I further advised that the lady on the phone didnt send a letter as the printers were not set up. The receptionist then told me I needed to go to the department in the main hospital I politely advised her that the lady on the phone had been most comprehensive in her instructions and the community diagnostic centre was where we needed to be. Finally she curtly directed us to the first floor waiting area, where I was relieved to encounter a professional and helpful member of staff. If this tyrant of a receptionist had succeeded in sending me to the main hospital I would have missed the appointment and wasted nhs funds. I would like these 2 receptionists to understand that "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link" Their unprofessional attitude and insults of members of the public can have serious repercusions. I will not visit this department again so she will not have the option to abuse me again.

Review titled Fabulous care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Flange - Posted on 27 July 2024
Id like to praise all the staff on Mary seacole ward, they were all great, they made me comfortable was there when I needed them but also went the extra mile to reassure and support me though my ordeal. I can't praise or thank them enough. Also my surgeon was fantastic and so sorry he had to do what he did but he saved my life and for that I hope he's proud. Keep up the good work everyone you really don't get the recognition you all deserve.

Went to Emergency department with excruciating abdominal pain and vomiting, made wait long hours before someone saw me and then gave me painkillers. I waited 5 days for Mmri scan, i have to have gallbladder removed but i was discharged because it might take 3 to 6 month! Is ridiculous and outrageous im still in pain, so avoid this hospital at any costs, just the nurses were amazing.

Review titled Bad practice
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Malvern - Posted on 31 August 2024
Attended an appointment with the orthopedics.Have been under review since December and when I visited was told I needed hip replacement. Was told I would be put on waiting list and keep checking on updates. The Nhs portal outline that maximum waiting period is 16 weeks with update of service being as current as today. Enquiry with patient department was told waiting period changed to 30- 40 weeks. What the need to give false information on the app as it misleading people. Thanks Malvern

Review titled Over the moon with my treatment.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sophie Kelly - Posted on 08 December 2023
Although I was waiting a while for my treatment due to a referral from my own dentist (to have a broken and abscessed tooth taken out) it was absolutely worth the wait. The dentist and his team immediately put me at ease and had me laughing! He explained everything fully to me and really made me relax even though I was so nervous. Explained proper aftercare to me and overall I had a great experience. Thank you George Eliot!

Review titled Good practice, lack of monitoring
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Vicente Ruiz - Posted on 06 October 2024
I went one year ago to the Urologyst and even though the doctor was good, he wasn't able to diagnose my problem and forwarded my case to another specialist. This was more than one year ago, and I still don't have any news. My health issue is getting worse and I'm worried that by the time that finally a doctor is able to see me I have a serious problem.
