Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by janet stone - Posted on 14 July 2023
I have very recently been discharged from ward 31 & want to thank the wonderful team on that ward who supported me throughout my stay , when I say I couldnt have received better care anywhere on earth I truly mean it . They were all so kind and caring & looked after me so well .I was very nervous on my arrival as an emergency patient after being transferred from another hospital , whom of I may add were most impressed with the speed the transfer was arranged , I was made to feel at home from the minute I was taken onto ward 31 and that feeling remained throughout my stay. so, to all the staff who work on there I wish to say a very grateful and sincere thankyou for saving my life. I wish you all the very best for the future, you are all amazing .Your kindness will stay with me forever :

Review titled Amazing service

I attended the clinic after visiting my doctors because I was concerned about a nipple abnormality. I was very nervous about attending the hospital. As soon as I entered I found very friendly staff and the whole process was incredibly efficient. It was busy but brilliantly run.

I was referred for a walk-in chest x-ray by my GP. Attended and was in and out in under 30 minutes - very efficient and effective service.

Review titled Wonderful staff.
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Terry Wall - Posted on 30 July 2023
I was transferred to Glenfield from The Royal Infirmary A &E and it was decided to keep me in and fit a pacemaker for which I was on a waiting list. I only had to wait a few days for the procedure to be carried out and the care shown by the nursing staff was exemplary. It was my birthday during my stay which became apparent every time I was asked to confirm my date of birth! It came as a real surprise when the staff arrived at my bed singing Happy Birthday and carrying a lovely cake which was shared with everyone on the ward. A really lovely gesture. It was probably not a typical week but there were 4 patients who were extremely rude and quite insulting to some of the staff and in one case almost reduced a nurse to tears. I honestly don’t know how they managed to cope with this, but they did and their performance was exemplary and deserves the highest praise.

Review titled No communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2023
A relative went in for an emergency transplant, although they appeared to take care of him whilst in there, realistically the care was very poor. Absolutely zero contact with the family to either let them know they had gone down for the operation or when they came back,if it was successful or how the patient was managing. Many many phones calls to the ward to try and find out, were either unanswered or when answered you we're treated abruptly and made to feel like a nuisance. There was no communication whatsoever between the staff and immediate next of kin. During such a difficult and nervous time the experience was made worse by not knowing what was happening and the staff treating such an important operation as if it was just like going to the dentist. Staff should keep the next of kin fully informed at every stage and not just ring up after 5 day's and expect someone to come and then take the patient home.with no advice on aftercare or what to do if the body rejects the organ!. Very very poor

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lissa Green - Posted on 17 June 2023
I attended the Glenfield Hospital to have incisional hernia repairs and from when I arrived in hpb triage until when I was discharged the following day the care was exceptional from absolutely everyone. This includes all staff who prepared me for surgery, the deputy sister, the nurse, the surgeon and doctor who both took time to visit me after my surgery as well, the theatre assistants who took me to theatre, the anaesthetist, the nurse who chatted with me while I was in recovery and made me feel calm and relaxed, he was what I would refer to as an angel on my journey, the two nurses who collected me from recovery and showed such kindness and care (also 2 angels) and all the nurses, health care assistants and cleaners on ward 36 where I stayed overnight. I was so grateful to be given a bed on this ward as there wasn’t one available where I was intended to go and without this bed my operation would have been cancelled. The ward was so clean and run so efficiently and was the quietest ward at night I have ever stayed on. This shows the dedication and care of the staff that worked that night to ensure we as patients could sleep. Thank you to everyone I came in contact with, I only wish I could name you all, my appreciation of every one of you is immense.

Review titled Great Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nina Tyers - Posted on 26 June 2023
I have recently had breast surgery on ward 34 for precancerous deposits. I can honestly say that the care I received from Doctors and Nurses was fantastic. The staff knew I was scared and supported me so well with their professionalism but also their humour where appropriate. I would also say I have never seen such a clean ward at any of the Leicestershire hospitals! It was immaculate. I am home now and recovering well but would like to thank everyone for their care.

Review titled Good experience, one small problem
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Jane - Posted on 27 June 2023
I went for my breast screening yesterday at the breast care centre. Lady at reception was so cheerful and welcoming, thank you! The lady who did my mammogram was also very kind and efficient and really put me at my ease. I was lucky to be in and out in 15 minutes max which meant I didn’t even need to pay carpark fees - magnificent! The only small difficulty was the lady who came to fetch me walked ahead of me as she gave me instructions, so I wasn’t quite able to hear her. She said “ something and shut the door behind you” to which I said do I need to also lock the door? (I forgot last time) she then answered a little testily “that’s what I just said.. lock and shut the door behind you”. There’s something here about facing people when you are giving them instructions. Also if you have sequential actions put them in sequence. Ie. Shut and then lock the door. Please don’t be testy with patients when they might be quite nervous, or unable to hear you correctly. I hope this helps, otherwise a really good experience.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alun D - Posted on 19 May 2023
Had a cardiac ablation, my treatment and care was outstanding from the team on ward 32. I like to thank all of the doctors nurses, healthcare workers, cleaners etc for my treatment, and especially the two nurses who looked after me before and after my op, your treatment was fantastic and your fast reaction to help me when my blood pressure drop into my boots was outstanding. Thank you Alun
