on 03 /25 at 12.30 pm at a & e all staff performed blood pressure / cardiac test / x ray & 3 blood tests in which resulted in suspected "angina" considering the vast amount of patients in a & e the time I waited for these procedures I feel was" extreme;y good value for money" one clinician even tried to fast track me to a doctor! many thanks a & e Admitted to mau zone 2 approx 9.30 10.00 pm welcomed with a cup of tea / sandwich and a pair of safety socks, to prevent slippage in the night & shown to room 28. blood pressure was taken through the night by anounced staff names. i was introduced, next day to a nurse who was responsible for my care and i was impressed by the moving trollies, with b p equipment and a large screen with all my details on and progress so far. i could ask them anything. the quality of the food was good, menu explained and there it was excellent also the hot drinks were regular. also constant thorough cleaning took place through out the day. a great big thank you to night / daytime staff at mau zone 2 if only a few more of us public could say "thank you" for the hard work you all do. finally i met a member of staff from cardiology, who reviewed my health explained follow up attendance care as an outpatient in the clinic and then quickly completed my discharge letter and i just waited for my medication explained fully by my nurse, again many many thanks mau zone 2 from patient nhs no 4560109877 duration of stay 3rd april- 5th april 2025.

  3. Review titled No apparent understanding of urgent eye care.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 February 2025

I had an to occasion to ring 111 service early one morning to ask advice as to what I should do about the sudden loss of vision in my left eye. I was told to go to Good Hope A&E within the hour. I managed to speak to a doctor after 3 hours, and was told by him that he needed to speak to a consultant. I waited another Hour and a half and spoke to the same Doctor again. We decided to walk over to the The Sheldon unit ophthalmology department and was told that they were not told about it and that they could not see me. So I went back to A&E and was then advised by a nurse to go urgently to The Birmingham eye hospital, because of the danger of losing the vision in my other eye. We again had a very long wait and at about 7pm I was given high dose steroids and told to return the next day. I was admitted for 3 days and given high dose steroids. I told Good Hope A&E that the 111 service to get to the hospital within the hour to which the replied 'they always say that'. I now have permanent loss of vision in my one eye and was I could have completely lost my vision within hours.

  4. Review titled Amazing team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Keith Dawson - Posted on 15 December 2024

My brother was taken to resus and then onto itu following a critical emergency. The treatment, support and care were truly amazing. We were kept well informed along his very critical journey and he received amazing treatment from an amazing team of consultants, doctors and nurses. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff even though they were extremely busy. Thank you all for the dedication, professionalism and kindness at a very scary and stressful time his family.

  5. Review titled Mixed Experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 January 2025

I was admitted to CCU (Ward 23) around Boxing day. I found the majority of staff fine if a little distant. I was treated for flu prior to angioplasty. Throughout I was largely left to my own devices, I wasn't really spoken to or that things weren't really explained to me adequately. I wasn't encouraged to mobilise or shower throughout my 8 day stay there. Some of the facilities (shower head attachment and window were broken and unusable) but the room/ward did feel clean and otherwise well maintained. There just felt a lot of uncertainty for me which caused me to stress about what was happening and what was going to happen. My room overlooked an outside corridor where staff regularly met during their breaks to smoke, whilst I couldn't smell the smoke some of the staff were very loud when talking and laughing with each other often at very antisocial times of the early morning. Overall it was a mixed experience but better than Heartlands where I was later moved to for the angioplasty. This was a bone of contention too, there was very little communication throughout and it would be a case that suddenly I was being moved to another part of the ward or transferred, there was very little time to gather yourself mentally and physically for the move,a bit of notice would have been preferable.

  7. Review titled Extremely Poor and Distressing.

    by Lynne M - Posted on 03 November 2024

Visited an elderly Aunt. Richard Salt Unit. Observed what can only be described as a comedy sketch with 5 staff arguing over who had ordered what food at dinner time. My Aunt said she didn't want to eat. I tried to persuade her to have a bite or two but she was adamant she didn't want it. If I hadn't tried, no one else would have. It was truly shocking to see this happening where patients had no support. On our way out the person at the desk, when I asked to be let out, said that will be 10 pounds. 5 in and 5 out. I seriously thought I'd misheard. She repeated it. I tried to laugh but honestly, I was so distressed by this point I wanted to cry. How unprofessional. Another nurse came with a key card and let us out. We had no opportunity to ask how my Aunt was doing. I asked a Nurse who dismissively told me she was on a bank shift and knew nothing. We are left worrying, very upset and angry. My Aunt is still there. I am so worried for her.

  9. Review titled Medical Assessment Unit and Ward 11 First class

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by P Johnson - Posted on 02 November 2024

I had to attend A and E in two days but was then taken in to Medical Assessment Unit by ambulance . All the staff from the cleaners to the Consultants were fantastic. Very caring and looked after me wonderfully well during my 3 days and nights in a side room before my transfer to Ward 11. On arrival at Ward 11 I was immediately called by my first name and made to feel welcome and immediately well looked after . The treatment I received from everyone was all I could have asked for.

  10. Review titled Amazing doctor - Breast Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 October 2024

I attended to an appointment at the Breast Surgery on 13/10/2024. During my ultrasound scan I was seen by a doctor who went above and beyond to listen to my problem, to resolve it (which I didn’t believe could be done due to a previous experience ) and to make me feel less scared ! I was amazed and I felt so grateful, I couldn’t even express this after the procedure because I was overwhelmed but I really want this doctor to know! Thank you so much for being there on a Sunday morning with such a positive attitude, supportive and professional!
