Amazing!! In December and January I had to visit Same Day Emergency Care. The staff were calm, compassionate, caring and thoughtful. Although they were very busy and waiting times were long, they were wonderful! I felt reassured and confident in their care.

  2. Review titled Lovely staff on ward 7

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Charlotte Lee - Posted on 18 January 2024

I spent about 5 days on ward 7 recently and the staff couldn’t do enough for me there. It’s a shame you can’t mention names on these reviews because there were 2 staff members in particular who made my stay there so much more pleasant. One was in training and I just know they’re going to be a fantastic nurse. But overall every staff member was great, and I really appreciated all their help and kindness. Thanks so much ward 7

  3. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After phoning 111, I was advised to attend Good Hope Accident & Emergency. Appreciated the hard work being done in Accident & Emergency and thanks to the gut instinct of one doctor in particular, I was admitted. On ward 28 I was in the safe care of an excellent consultant, brilliant doctors, lovely caring nursing staff and much appreciated auxiliary staff. Particular thanks to the microbiology team whom tracked the source of my infection. I left the hospital on 7th January, after 11 days feeling a new woman. Shame I cannot name those guys I would like to thank especially. Most grateful for the care I received.

  4. Review titled Kind and caring staff

    by Poppy777 - Posted on 04 January 2024

I recently attended as a day patient to endoscopy department for a colonoscopy. Right from Reception everyone was very kind and caring. The nurse who booked me in and gave me the change of clothes I needed and put the cannula in was very kind and understanding and put me at ease as I was very nervous. When they came to get me to go in for the colonoscopy the two nurses were really lovely and kind and reassured me I would be fine. During the colonoscopy the nurses continued to reassure me, giving me encouragement to not be scared, they were comforting and gave me their hand to hold, never leaving my side. I could not have done it without them. The Consultant was just as kind and caring. The staff in recovery were exactly the same, kind and caring. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of those involved, and advise anyone who has to go for a colonoscopy here to rest assured you will be very well looked after.

  5. Review titled where does the buck stop

Rated 1 star out of 5

by SANDRA - Posted on 13 December 2023

Everyone is aware the nhs is overwhelmed. no question. The admin of this hosp defies belief. After 2 visits to a&e with suspected heart attack.Spent 10 hrs first visit, after 2nd visit was told i would be down for scan. After that visit i rang the dept next day spoke with junior dr. I expressly told him i would be away from and to dates, would he ensure my appt. did not come thru on those dates.Gave me his assurance they would not but guess what.Recd voicemail week after, appt in post. 7 phonecalls later to find out the date before letter arrives, taken up two mornings virtually being round and round wrong depts. Appt. is when Im away!!!! surprise!!does anyone listen???..Ive never known such incompetence in my life. Yes theyre busy, get it. But the total lack of any symmetry between depts. Being given totally wrong phone numbers for my enquiry, no one having the correct information. I have to say that Good hope is known locally here as no hope hospital a well deserved reputation. This is not my first experience of incompetence and total lack of coordination between depts, Let face it, our nhs is in trouble this has been the situation here at this hospital since it opened. I have absolutely no confidence in the admin of this place whatsoever. The manager of this place wants sacking. the buck has to stop at his or her door. The rot starts at the top.

  6. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Melanie Sharman-Everton - Posted on 19 January 2024

My mom was admitted to Good Hope on the 20th December after collapsing at home. Paramedics were amazing and so were A and E. We all thought it may be related to diabetes and she would be out next day. However, a scan revealed an internal bleed. Good Hope surgeons did absolutely all that they could and she survived despite being exceptionally poorly. This was due to the exemplary care that she received from the ICU nurses! Unfortunately she suffered a 2nd internal bleed and was taken to Heartlands for a procedure. Again the care was exemplary and despite us not thinking she would get through the op she did. The care there was also amazing! 2 days later mom suffered a 3rd bleed and there was nothing anyone could do. When we went to the hospital to say goodbye, the nursing staff were kind, respectful and emotional with us. They are amazing people and deserve the world

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Sustained head injury with wound. Seen rapidly by navigation nurse and then by ENP who was professional and efficient. It was by many standards a "quiet" nightshift. Regardless it felt efficient and friendly

  8. Review titled Wonderful Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen - Posted on 05 November 2023

Arrived early in the morning at a and e with what I knew to be a serious illness. All the staff regardless of their title/role were extremely kind, very professional and very helpful. I didn't mind the waiting around because I knew that staff were checking my situation with other professionals in the hospital, before making a final diagnosis. Would I visit a and e/ sdec again? Most definitely although hopefully not too soon!

  9. Review titled Long wait

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 November 2023

Over 8 hours we have been here and still waiting, might not be so bad if you were given information about how long each separate test was going to take. And then the huge parking bill at the end. Two visits in three months both over 8 hours, why not do the tests and re appoint the next day?

  10. Review titled Bad, bad, bad.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 June 2024

This hospital is in dire need of actually caring for the patients and not just letting them sit in A&E for hours just because they feel to lazy to do anything or actually come and help. I was in serious pain for ages and yet there were people waiting for hours before me who still hadn’t been seen, I arrived at around 4:40pm and left past 9pm! Utterly horrific service and a waste of tax payers money! Not happy at all.
