  1. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sam - Posted on 22 June 2024

On Saturday 22 June the pharmacy was opened at 9.15am with the person with the keys to open arriving 15 minutes late. He saw over 8 people already waiting outside door and there was no explanation or apology for being late. However what was more concerning was what followed next. The best way to describe the experience was shocking and very embarrassing to have such a disorganised team working here. Unprofessionally dressed, no name badges, rude manner of addressing people, no organised system of handing in prisciption or collection, breach of so many aspect of GDPR, asking private medical question in an open area where other people can hear of other people's medications and most of all the wait time with over 18 people waiting in just 20 minutes of the pharmacy being opened. Then in my case, it took almost 15 minutes to look for an already pre ready priscription ordered 48 hours ago but could not be found easily as my medication was piled in the wrong box/cupboard. It took three memebr of the team from the total of 5 me.eber of the team on duty on the day, to find it. My questions is how was the contract given to Boots, what measures and conditions were in place, how is it acceptable to allow a pharmacy to provide such a disagrsful and u professional service here? Why does the NHS management team responsible overseeing the pharmacy service here at the Hospital not accountable? Why do us, the public who have no choice but to use the services of the pharmacy at the Hospital have to go through such unacceptable poor services not to mention all the risks associated with having such a poor disorganised service? It will not be a surprise when there will be a breach of serious nature when putting people's life at risk with a pharmacy dispenser has not followed correct procedures processing prescriptions or handing out priscription medications to people.

  2. Review titled Outstanding Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have recently been discharged from the care of the Orthopaedic Department following a successful operation. The care I received from the Consultant Spinal Surgeon, his medical team, the nursing and administrative staff has been professional and caring throughout. Everything was explained to me in a clear and concise manner and I had total confidence every step of the way. A big thank you to everyone involved.

  3. Review titled Even worse than feared

Rated 1 star out of 5

This review is related to the clinical genetics service. I thought the test for the breast cancer gene had been performed in tissue removed during surgery in November 2022 and I was waiting for the results, when actually, I was waiting for an initial referral, which took about 16 months. The appointment was very unhelpful, an unpleasant experience where the interviewer couldn’t work out my age when initially diagnosed, and kept telling me I was over 40 at the time, despite being clearly told I was 39. ‘Evidence’ of family cancers was requested, for example, a death certificate for someone who died in 1971! I thought this was meant to be a service providing early warning for people at higher risk, when at this rate I could be dead before they get round to making a decision. You can’t get a straight answer from them about the actual inclusion criteria either. Now the interviewer has gone off chasing data for likely another few months. I would avoid and go private if you can afford to.

I have been on hold for 1hour and 20 mins just to wait to speak to the urology receptionist. I've had a missed call from guys they left no message in regards to what the phone call was about. They didn't give me another number to contact for this.

I had Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy treatment at Guys Hospital, cancer village. The whole experience could not have gone better. It was organised, quick and most efficent. All the team were very friendly, welcoming and professional. Thank you very much indeed.

I was on the emergency two week pathway for investigations for my throat. I cannot speak highly enough of the fantastic care I received from all staff at this hospital. They have responded to my emails and telephone calls swiftly. The staff have kept me up to date with every step of the procedures I have undergone. Warm and very caring staff. The hospital is spotlessly clean. Thank you so much for looking after me. NHS staff are truly amazing.

  7. Review titled Genetics testing so slow

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2024

I had breast cancer under 40 so was referred for genetics testing to see if I have the gene. This was December 2022. I finally received an appointment for mid May 2024 for the results, this was no sooner in the diary than it was cancelled and rescheduled for September. They obviously have the results, so why not just send me a letter. The results, if positive, have implications as I need to let my adult children know that they also need to get tested. Will they also need to wait nearly two years for their results? I don’t understand how this delay can be justified.

I have consistently received incredible service from this department. Most recently, my follow-up appointment was seamless. All doctors and nurses that I have interacted with are thorough, kind and considerate. Grateful for their work!!

  9. Review titled Some good things some not so great….

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 March 2024

I was referred a year ago and the referral appeared to have been lost. On chasing this up it was resolved quickly and appointment then given. The MyChart system is inherently flawed - difficult to access (impossible for elderly and visually impaired). Lost my details. Changed appointments with no notice. Past appointments no longer anywhere to be seen. Test results not accessible. Too many glitches to mention. I will be writing separately to request letters and that this online system is not relied on in my case. The cardiology department includes some amazing, professional and helpful people - but others were less welcoming and friendly. Clinical staff - My consultant had a lovely reassuring manner, was thorough and great at explaining what further tests and appointments would be needed. Had detailed understanding of my genetic condition and links to cardiology data which was reassuring. Highly recommended. The sequence of tests eg echocardiograms, ECGs, blood pressure tests felt a little like being on a conveyer belt. I would imagine this could be very unsettling for elderly, disabled or visually impaired individuals. We were advised it was a 45 minute appointment but arrived at 1.30 and left at 5.15. Allow plenty of time. Pharmacy set up was farcical - badly laid out, not great for visually impaired, confusing and delays very stressful when catching trains for long journeys. One of the pharmacy staff was bellowing at waiting patients. Inappropriate. The screen system is not good for visually impaired people or those with balance issues, limited mobility or other health conditions. On a plus side - on 2 occasions of trying to work out where to go, 2 separate members of staff stopped and asked if I was ok and quickly sent me in the right direction. Generally most staff, with one or two exceptions, were friendly and reassuringly compassionate. Staff let down by behind the scenes organisation, delays in getting appointments etc and the MyChart system is simply awful - terrible method of communication. And I’m an internet and computer savvy adult! Overall - good but very let down by using MyChart which was utterly useless.

Visited pops department on Wednesday 27th march and I must say from start to finish it went so smoothly with great staff and great facilities . So if you ever have to go for an appointment in Bermondsey wing orange section, older persons assessment unit it will be a good experience!!
