I attended D wing for blood tests. I took a ticket as advised and waited my turn. Despite it being very busy I was called within 15 minutes and all done within 20 mins. Staff were friendly and thorough. A really efficient service from start to finish, thank you.

Review titled I could not have had a better experience

Had to have a colonoscopy. As a 79 year old I was very nervous but on arrival was put at ease. The nurse was patient in when answering my questions about sedation and other matters. The procedure was painless (without sedation) and a nurse was beside me the whole time. I am fortunate to have private health care insurance but so pleased I decided to have it done in the NHS in Harrogate. In summary, everyone who looked after me was brilliant! Thanks to all.

After spending a full day in the sdec unit with a very sick friend I can't praise the staff enough they were all lovely & so attentive, constantly updating us on their progress. In a time when they are constantly under pressure I couldn't have been more impressed with their care..

Review titled Very professional treatment in accident and emergency
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My mother had a nasty fall and was taken to the accident and emergency department. She was seen straight away, treated very kindly, professionally, and thoroughly examined, and the whole experience reinforced one's faith in the NHS, the practitioners who work in it, and its value as an organisation. A huge thank you to all concerned.

Review titled Confusing visit at first.
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Mick - Posted on 19 July 2023
Having been given the choice of Harrogate or Leeds for a colonoscopy, I chose Harrogate as they had an earlier appointment. When I arrived I found the signage very confusing. Everything seemed to be number and letter form. This is ok if you are used to how they operate. Being new to the hospital and trying to navigate I found this very stressful. I asked at the reception for directions in order to get to the department I required. Told use to lift. Once on the first floor turn left and go to the end of the corridor department is there Followed the instructions only to find I had passed the department by a good 30 metres. I then asked in a department to be told it was the next department back. Was looking for the colonoscopy, only to find they labeled it endoscopy. Confusing if you don't know. Now stressed out thinking I was lost. Having said all this. Once in the right department, the staff were really great. Explained all the process in great detail. Every understanding with all my questions about a process that was new to me. Once I had had the colonoscopy the staff again were great. I was told I would receive a call the next day to see how I was. Next day got a call. Very disappointed as the call was automated,(AI). The automated call got my name wrong. This gave me options, press 1 for 2 for. As part of the information was wrong I pressed 2. This then cut me off saying sorry for the intrusion. Not able to give feed back for my experience. Shockingly poor customer service. The people who run this service for Harrogate hospital fund need to have a serious look at their role. Most hospital services are on a personal level. That should be the same for follow up services. So the personal service is second to none. As for the upper management after service I would rate as 0 out of 10.

Review titled Brilliant
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wish to leave a review for the CCU bay on Bolton Ward and the Cardiology/ Pacemaker departments, I was admitted as an emergency late afternoon from A&E on Monday 12/6/23 suffering from breathlessness . The care I received in this unit was fantastic, everything explained to me as events took place.from , the machinery I was hooked up to, to the procedure that would help me. The consultant, saw me on Tuesday morning and explained I needed a pacemaker which he would insert on Wednesday morning. I was then visited by the pacemaker team, shown the device and the procedure explained. Following the procedure I immediately felt the benefit. I was discharged on Thursday. What a brilliant team and result for me!!

Review titled Great care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wish to leave a review for both A&E and the Emergency Day Care Centre. I arrived at A&E 7.30am 12/6/23 breathless and following a speedy triage I was quickly seen by the medical team. I was monitored and my bloods taken before I was diagnosed and transferred to the coronary care unit. ( My review for here under a different service) . I cannot praise the care, the professionalism and all the staff too highly. They were all brilliant. Unfortunately I had to make another visit to A&E on 22/6/23 as my left arm was swollen and I wondered if it was connected with the pacemaker I’d had inserted 14/6/23. Again A&E were brilliant. I even was taken to see the surgeon who had done the pacemaker procedure. All necessary tests were given , the care excellent and I went home with overnight medication and an appointment at The Same Day Emergency Care Centre for today . This centre too gives great care and explains in a quieter environment what is happening to the patient. Harrogate is so lucky to have such caring professional staff who care for their patients and I thank all of them.
