My doctor has asked me to have a series of blood tests & an x-ray. I am disabled, & wanted to check to see if and how I can access the appropriate area with my mobility scooter. The website says there is disabled parking,& that they have various departments at Hemel (both of wich I knew),but no mention of how anyone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter can access the departments necessary. [ I clicked on the x-ray department, but it did not have a link to any further information.] From past experience, I believe the access to the area I want is up steps, which anyone who needs a wheelchair or mobility scooter, cannot use. When asked about answering a brief questionnaire here, I said yes, but as I was seeking information before I went to the hospital, the first question was irrelevant, & system insisted I should make a choice. There was no suitable choice I could make- a "Not applicable" answer should have been included.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not aware that any department is inaccessible, but we may be able to review the provision of route information. Both the X-ray and phlebotomy departments at Hemel Hempstead and St Albans are accessible. There are steps if you enter from the back of St Albans (by Day Surgery), however, further along that corridor there is a lift. Please email westherts.pals@nhs.net the link to the questionnaire so the team can resolve this issue.

I was really impressed with the care received today. I was seen and evaluated incredibly quickly. All employees were amazing. I have been to quite a few appointments at Hemel and always received amazing care. Would definitely recommend this hospital. It was my first time visiting the Urgent Treatment Center and I'm really lucky to have this as my local one.

I was given the wrong details for an appointment. Tried calling department but the System is rubbish nothing is direct calling. No body picks up the phones. No real information online about who to contact and how to contact.

Following an Endoscopy performed a few days ago, I felt that I just had to post a review. Never having had this procedure before, I was understandably a bit apprehensive. And although the procedure itself is not exactly pleasant, the staff were absolutely amazing. They explained everything, answered all questions, actually listened to my concerns, and put me at ease. During the procedure itself, they were constantly 'there' for me - I didn't feel 'alone' for one second. They kept me informed at every stage, and we're kind and professional throughout. I can't thank them enough, for making the experience as positive as possible. In addition to that, I would just like to say, that every visit I have had to this hospital, has been good, from the cleaning lady holding a door open, to the reception staff, nurses and doctors, they always seem to be a very well coordinated team, with a very positive attitude towards what they do, and towards their patients. So once again, thank you for your care and kindness, and I wish you all the very best.

I have visited Hemel Hempstead hospital several times recently as an outpatient and, on every occasion, The staff, without exception, have been friendly and helpful. You are lucky to have them.

On 1st May 2023 I broke my radius at garden centre and was dealt with the utmost professionalism with a quick diagnosis once seen. The only drawback was the three hour wait time. The nurse dealing with me was very sympathetic and helpful.

My husband had an outpatient appointment this afternoon (25thMay). We cannot tell you how impressed we are( and thankful) for such a brilliant service.Every single member of staff were amazing, helpful and so efficient. Thank you so much. Definitely 5stars, all the way.

I have had a gastro consultation and an endoscopy at Hemel. At my consultation the nurse doing the initial checks was incredibly careful and diligent, due to her care I was able to get the correct medication and have follow up cardiological tests to help me. The team were so careful and put my mind at ease when I came for my endoscopy. I really appreciated them looking after me and making the experience as pleasant as it could be. They were so attentive and efficient and understanding. I believe I'm not allowed to mention names but every team member I had contact with was amazing. Every appointment or drop in I have visited has been without delays and I feel so lucky and very grateful to have received the level of care they have offered.

Endoscopy sept today second time there all staff superb kind knowledgable efficient.nothing too much trouble and the gentleman who did the procedure exceptional.wish all hospitals like this amazing a real gem of a place.Would love to give all these workers a pay rise.Hospital extremely clean

Absolutely brilliant staff ,well.looked after. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff went out of there way ,explaining everything to us .
