  1. Review titled Cancelled biopsy results!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 July 2024

Fast tracked for possible skin cancer. Was told seven weeks for results. Appointment cancelled after four weeks. Letter said do not chase we will send you another appointment asap. Nine weeks on still waiting, phone always 30 or 35 people long. Not happy!

  2. Review titled Traumatic Experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

My recent (July 2024) visit to the Hertford County Hospital did not go well. This appointment was for an eye check (which incidentally was completed ok) prior to cataract surgery due the following month. I was sat at the testing machine with my legs under the platform and to align my chin with the chin rest the Specialist Nurse lowered the platform low enough to contact the top of my legs putting great pressure on them resulting in me experiencing considerable pain. It felt like there was an elephant sitting on my knees and only when I cried out did the operator stop and raised the table back up again to take the load off my legs and offer an apology. This equipment should be fitted with a cut out so as not to allow dangerous forces to be applied to patients legs which could result in serious injury. Specialist Nurses are not engineers so may not be aware of the dangers of these power fed tables/platforms, (mine certainly wasn't). Operators should be warned of this danger and necessary modifications to these machines immediately applied. Fortunately I do not appear to have sustained any permanent injury but the event was traumatic and upsetting particularly for a 77 year old patient.

  3. Review titled Appointments Service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Stephen - Posted on 09 May 2024

I can readily understand why patients not arriving for appointments is inefficient. If one is ill on the day, telephones and finds oneself 33, 23, 28 in the queue, what is one to do ? Wait Lord knows how long at my expense, arrive while sick and infectious, or simply not turn up ? I know the answer, but over to you....

I needed to change the time of my appointmrnt given. I called 01438-284444 was no.39 in queue, waited 44 mins got to no. 23 in queue and was Cut Off!! Is there a time limit on call waiting?? This has happened to me before, the waiting time to get through to the appointment line is always extremely long. Please look into this as very frustrating! Thank you

  5. Review titled Vague information and poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 February 2024

Letter inviting my elderly mother to an outpatients appointment gave no information as to what the appointment is actually for i.e. is it a clinic appointment or is it to actually have her mole removed. I tried to call twice for clarification. On hold for over an hour and gave up. Second time I was number 40 in a queue so gave up.

  6. Review titled Can't cancel my appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Philip Williams - Posted on 17 January 2025

You sent me letter on 13 January with an appointment for 11 February, which I cannot attend. The letter requests that I call 01438 284444 to cancel or change the appointment. When I do so (4 attempts) I am between 28th and 32nd in the queue. When I try to do it on the enherts w'site the system requires that I have an appointment no. and an access code, neither of which is provided in the letter. When I log on to my NHS App it says I have no appointments. My NHS no. is 404-564-6809. Please cancel my appointment as I am due to travel abroad for an extended period.

  8. Review titled Very accommodating

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had to cancel appointment at short notice, but received a call in the morning offering a rearranged appointment that same day. Slight delay in being seen, otherwise not a problem.

  10. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Oliver - Posted on 02 August 2023

On arrival at the main reception I was greeted politely and directed clearly to the correct department on the first floor. I arrived about five minutes early and was pleasantly surprised that I was called more or less on time for my 10.20 appointment. Again I was welcomed warmly into the GP’s room. I was asked how I was feeling and after giving my details including what medication I was taking, the doctor listened with interest about my symptoms. She then took three separate samples from my infected nails and was prescribed medication and told how I should apply it. I was was also informed that I should hear about the results in approximately two weeks although I will be patient as I’m aware that results are generally taking longer than usual recently throughout the NHS. I have to say that I was very impressed by the doctors knowledge and obvious care for my wellbeing and I didn’t feel like I was being rushed for her to attend to her next patients. I came away feeling very confident that my symptoms will improve in the near future and I was very grateful for her time and attention to detail.
