Review titled Outpatient Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by owen white - Posted on 05 April 2024
My Father In Law went into this hospital in January 2024. One of the issues has led to him losing his sight in his left eye. On coming home he has a six month referal for any further issues relating to his eye sight. Some issues have occurred so a referral was made via my GP for him to be seen. Two letters were recieved in March, One stating that he had cancelled an appointment and the second giving him a second date. This letter had a warning that if he failed to attend this appointment he would be referred back to the GP. I recieved a phone call to make sure he was ready two hours before his appointment for transport services to pick him up. On that day transport failed to turn up so he missed the appointment. I have called the department on 01895 238282 several times and get the same answer machine message stating the department is overworked with fewer staff and as such call back later. Not acceptable in my opinion. In any event my GP helped and made a referal again and we were given an appointment a week later with transport as he is disabled and finds walking any distance very difficult. I have this morning recieved a phone call from this department stating that his appointment is cancelled as they have no doctors on duty able to see him. An alternative appointment was offered on a weekend when there is no transport. I have stated he needs transport to which I have been told there is no one available to see my father in law during the week when there is transport. No further date has been given and I have been told an email will be sent stating my Father In Law can not attend. To me this seems to be a very badly run department. It is my experience that the phones are not answered and appointments are not met due to staffing issues and a badly run diary. Terrible service and my father in law is still in discomfort a month down the road. My suggestion would be to contact clients with a solution rather than offer none.

I have been left to wait for 9h just to be told that the specialists I am waiting are bank holiday and to come back tomorrow, filing extremely unwell and dizzy, 9h I have been left on a chair as they haven't got enough beds... passing out and begging to be put somewhere , because I can't sit there any more. They don't treat you as a human being attol.

I came in to Hillingdon A&E in the early hours of Monday morning 22nd April. I am 93 and had a head injury. The care I received from all members of staff were excellent and I was really looked after. The treatment was very thorough. Thank you Amy Goodwin

Recently attended the a&e here after getting some cement/grout in my eye on a project at hs2. The staff that dealt with me were lovely, I was seen really quickly (I know this will depend on the day) but in my case it was very quick. I was very nervous getting my eye looked at because up until now I've generally had someone with me at the hospital, however the nurse I saw calmed me down and kept me talking as she washed my eye out which helped a lot!! She was very reassuring and made sure I knew what the next steps where with referring me onto the eye hospital for the next day I'm very grateful to all the staff when I attended and the help I got from the nurse, it was very much welcomed after a day of a sore eye. :)

Review titled Quick appointment and lovely staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5

On a Monday I saw my practice nurse and was found that she couldn't find my coil strings, the next day I contacted my GP who requested an ultrasound scan. 2 days later I received a letter in the post for the appointment at Hillingdon hospital which was the following week. I was very impressed at receiving such a fast scan appointment. I attended the scan on Good Friday which was a bank holiday, parked easily and went to the scan in Marina ward. The sonographer and her assistant was lovely, took their time and I appreciated they were working on a bank holiday. Overall a great experience! Thank you to Hillingdon hospital and our wonderful NHS!!!

I cant believe how downhill this hospital has gone.. I was bought into a&e due to chest pains and shortness of breath also dizziness. I was left for 4 hours, no contact with any nurse/doctor after expressing the pain was getting worse, just to be told anyone who hadnt been seen at that point, wont be seen till the morning the next day… I understand a friday night being busy, but in circumstances related to the chest/heart/breathing, im disappointed with the level of care i was given. I ended up leaving and hoping the gp can do more

Review titled Over view and standards
Rated 1 star out of 5

I arrived at the ent and my son went straight into the children’s play area he is 2, as I walked in the area was disgusting. At first there was a paper cup on the side with water and bread that had been placed inside. There was no other children within this area and there was a child’s muslin on the floor that had stuff all over my child had picked it up. Continuing on there was dirty tissues all over the floor, there were broken toys in which were sharp and my child had caught himself on. Members of staff had entered this area but did not pick the Muslin nor the tissues up. I was in the place for 45mins and the whole time not one member of staff cleared the cup on the side. Considering there is a child’s area for little children I would assume that it would be some what cleaned, there was dirt and hair all over the floor. Considering it is a hospital I would expect the standards to be a little higher.

My grandson is under the eye clinic. Never answer there phones! No voice mail to leave a message! No email contact! Appointment line always always busy! Main reception puts you through same answer phone message then cuts you off. This happened before when trying to rearrage an appointment then you get a leter saying there going to basically kick you off the list because you missed your appointment? What are patients ment to do some one please advise.......not happy!
