Review titled Such kind and reassuring staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 November 2024
I came to the Horton on a Saturday afternoon for a CT scan in the radiology dept and just wanted to say how wonderful I thought all of the staff were. The two people that put my canula could tell I was nervous and were so kind and reassuring, it really put me at ease. The scan itself was very quick and the staff I encountered and that were helping others around me really couldn’t have been more generous with their time and energy. We’re so fortunate to have these people in our nhs! Thank you

Review titled Unprofessionalism at its worse! Ultrasound dept
Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended an ultrasound appointment at Horton General Radiology Department for a pelvic ultrasound (both transabdominal and transvaginal), and the experience left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and vulnerable. From the outset, the ultrasound practitioner was confrontational, assuming I had not prepared correctly despite my careful adherence to the instructions provided in the appointment letter. Rather than engaging in a constructive conversation or offering guidance, the practitioner took a harsh and accusatory tone, making me feel blamed and criticised. Even though I had followed the instructions to drink two pints of water an hour before the appointment, the practitioner was unwilling to wait a few additional minutes to allow my bladder to reach full capacity considering I was invited in 10 minutes earlier to my appointment having arrived before my time and dismissing my concerns without flexibility. Furthermore, she groaned about having to now get things ready for the transvaginal ultrasound because I didn’t have a full bladder to proceed with the external scan and despite this being an additional requirement on my referral, my privacy and dignity were disregarded, as I was instructed to undress without being offered appropriate privacy or consideration. This combination of poor communication, lack of empathy, and disregard for patient dignity made the entire experience distressing and ultimately led me to stop the procedure, as I no longer felt safe or respected. As a senior Health care professional myself, the attitude they exhibited is not inline with the code of conduct and shocking behaviours. Formal complaint raised! They definitely aren’t fit to practice

Review titled Great patient care

Thank you very much for your care offered today to my son, when I was so in distress and thinking he broke his hand. You were so kind and offered me some peace of mind and even gave a teddy to my son, so he can smile a bit. He nows holds it for hours in his arms and he's feeling much better. You clearly deserve our respect and gratitude. God bless you all in there and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Review titled Great Care given after Surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gemma Tyler - Posted on 09 May 2024
I received some Great care from the Day Case Unit on Sat 4th May after having an Operation. The nurses were fantastic with one in particular who ensured i was comfy and had everything i needed and explained everything i was feeling was completely normal after the type of surgery i had and when i began being really ill she came over and comforted me keeping me calm at all times. If i ever need to have surgery again i would like it to be at this Hospital on the Day Case Unit.

My son had surgery here and although there was some mix up with us not being on the list for the day, we have been fitted in and operation happened on the day. Care was exceptional and staff was very professional and caring. Very grateful for their service.

Review titled Not very friendly

My husband & I are pregnant for the first time and we were very excited to have our first scan at 12 weeks. We walked into the ultrasound department and it looked abit derelict to be honest, and nobody was there to greet us, so we just sat down and waited wondering what we do. Finally the ultrasound clinician came out and called us into this dingy room. Being my first scan I had no clue what to expect. I was offered the extra testing which I agreed too and it was straight onto the bed and straight into it. Not really much care or chatting from the clinician, which really ruined the moment for us. My husbands chair was also far away from the bed which felt a little weird because it felt like he was far away from me. I wanted a video of the baby moving on the screen but my husband was promptly told that no photos were allowed to be taken preceding by ‘We charge you for photos £5 for 1 or £10 for 3’. We were done within a few minutes and soon rushed out to go pay for our scans at a machine like a car parking ticket for the clinician to come out and ‘check’ we had paid for them. Like we were children… In all honesty it felt a little rushed & like we were not trusted to not pay for our scans. It was a little bit of a weird experience and left me feeling abit weird… I understand why it was recently given such a bad rating by the care commission. I would not want to give birth here let alone go back. Seemed like a rush to get me in and out with no care at all…

Review titled Terrific Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Neil Good - Posted on 04 April 2024
The Emergency Assessment Unit delivered great care to me and the people around me. They seemed to be on top of things and had a consistently caring attitude. The facilities looked to be maintained to a good standard and well utilised - for the areas I saw, bed spaces were occupied most of the time. I would like to highlight staff members I had direct experience of but I understand the review wont be seen.
