Review titled Efficient and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Carol - Posted on 06 January 2024
My wife was admitted to Ward F on Wednesday, 7 .Dec Diagnosed and scheduled for operation to fix patella on Thursday 8th and was home on Friday 9. The ward was running like Swiss clock with constant flow of patients and the care was as good and kind as you could hope for even though staff were clearly pressed for time.

Review titled Poor practice

After waiting in reception for a very long time I was called though to the back and told to take a seat. I was informed by a staff nurse that the Dr would see me shortly. An hour and a half later the Dr saw me but she didn't even introduce herself as a Doctor. I had no idea who she was. She dragged her feet and appeared half asleep. This didn't fill me with confidence. I didn't realise she was a Dr until I finished being treated by her.

Review titled Quick, efficient and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I brought my son in who'd fallen and hurt his arm. We were booked in at the reception within a minute and were taken to the children's waiting room, where I expected to wait perhaps 5-6 hours, being a Friday night in a large town, but within an hour my boy was given an X-Ray, and within 2 hours he'd had another X-Ray and a diagnosis - a broken arm. The doctor was extremely friendly and caring, and didn't speak to my son like a baby. He spoke to the patient, not to me (except for details etc), and explained everything carefully and considerately. A cast was fitted very quickly and efficiently, and all of the medical and administrative staff were kind, jovial and helpful. All in all it was 3 hours between entering end leaving, which in today's climate was a really pleasant surprise. This is the NHS we need in this country! My son even said he enjoyed his trip to A&E, although I hope this doesn't encourage him to break his arm again! I hope the staff who were on duty get to read this review, they were all excellent, and should be proud that they're able to deliver the service that they do despite a government seemingly intent on making it as hard as possible for them to do so. Thank you so much.

I had the best care provided by the maternity team throughout pregnancy and delivery. The post delivery care I had was 5 stars. Staff are so attentive and really care for the patients. Thank you to all staff in the maternity unit.

Dealt with in super quick time for a sprained/ possibly broken ankle. Staff couldn't have been kinder or more considerate. My nurse has been doing this job for 34 years and despite everything that's been going on in the wider world, had lost none of her compassion or humour. We are so very lucky to have people with this kind of vocation. Thank you wonderful Horton Hospital.

Review titled Reassuring and professional
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I received a phone call from bowel screening asking me to go for a colonoscopy after some blood was found in stool sample. I had to ask for the appointment to be at a nearer hospital due to my caring responsibilities. I was not looking forward to the procedure having recently lost a parent so feeling quite low. But from the moment I walked into the department I felt supported and that any concerns would be listened to. The staff very quietly calm and explained to me the process. Having worked as a health professional for many years I can honestly say I am so proud of the staff who looked after me and their professionalism, kindness and understanding are of the highest standard. Thank you all

Review titled Fabulous service.

The hospital called me in the morning to ask me to come in earlier which I did. I was seen by the consultant even before I had completed the admission forms. The consultant explained everything. Offered to fit an IUD because it would lessen my symptoms and the procedure was carried out quickly, effectively, efficiently and with dignity and respect. I was kept in the know at all points of the procedure. Afterwards I was offered a cup of tea. Stayed there for 20 minutes as I was unaccompanied and able to drive myself home afterwards. I have never been in a hospital, had treatment and out within 90 minutes. Superb staff who were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Thank you all.

We recently had a day visit to the childrens ward at the Horton Hospital, where my son had some dental surgery. From start to finish the staff were welcoming, attentive, friendly, caring, kind. They could not have done anymore for us, the care provided by all was amazing. What could have been A stressful visit, was indeed quite the opposite and as a parent i couldnt thank them enough.

Review titled Endoscopy fabulous department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Thomas Meechan - Posted on 17 July 2023
I attended this department just as frightened as anyone would but I need not have been worried, from reception to recovery they are such a dedicated team and put everyone at ease. I know they work in tandem with the JR an equally excellent department so my heartfelt thanks to all of you no exceptions. I'm acutely aware this won't pay the bills as indeed neither did clapping but as a patient with a degenerative condition I stand shoulder to shoulder until you receive proper renumeration no matter how many appointment I miss or indeed surgery. A little odd one now, to the person responsible for the aquisition of the dignity shorts you have made so many patients feel just that, dignified and you deserve the plaudits for carrying out your tasks so efficiently Thank you Tommy Tremor

Review titled Exceeded expectations
Rated 4 stars out of 5

When I had to take my son to A&E I felt a sense of dread, based on media coverage. We were quickly triaged, there was an screen indicating approx waiting time, which managed expectations. We were seen within the time by a lovely doctor (the triage nurses were great too). After x-ray and review we were out in about 2 and a quarter hours. Thank you.
