After waiting 6 weeks for a hip MRI, I was informed it would be a further 6-8 weeks to get the report. It is now 10 weeks post MRI and no report available. Disgraceful service.

I had my second cataract surgery in October (first in August) under general anaesthetic. Excellent service by all the staff, such kindness, and patience throughout. I do not know names, but I am sure those on duty on that day (6th October) will know who they are. A huge thank you to everyone.

  4. Review titled St Cross Hospital Blood Test Unit - What a Difference!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by MR RICHARD J OWEN - Posted on 27 September 2023

I was referred by my GP for a blood test at St Cross Hospital. I made an appointment online for 14.15 today. Checked in at 14.10 and left the unit at 14.20. I remember a previous visit some years ago when you simply turned up (no appointment system existed) had to obtain a numbered ticket from a machine and then join the waiting clients (30 +) until your number came up. The nurses were working flat out, but demand was clearly outstripping the resources available. The wait to be seen was from recollection over 45 minutes. I congratulate those in the NHS who have brought about the remarkable improvement to the service provided by this still busy unit.

I had to attend Willow ward for a colonoscopy, the staff were polite, professional and courteous. I cannot commend the consultant and his brilliant team highly enough. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work. NHS at its best.

  6. Review titled Professional and caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently spent 3 days on Cedar Ward The staff were very professional and caring. In particular the tall Indian nursing assistant on nights. He worked non stop all night answering to patient needs. He was very respectful in terms of personal care. The whole process of having a knee replacement was made much easier by everything being explained in full with outcome expectations included. Thank you all very much for your care.

I have had to go to the Day Surgery ward twice, and both times I have been impressed by the kindness of the staff. Nurses, doctors and everyone involved were all so caring and reassuring. I am very grateful for their kindness.

  9. Review titled Perfect surgery aftercare

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a complex operation at this hospital. I live in Coventry and this is the first time I’ve ever been to this hospital. My experience with our city hospital has mostly been a shambles, nothing goes to plan and normally just left, so I was pleasantly surprised to be treated with dignity by every member of staff here at St Cross. The recovery nurse was so calming and chatty, surgery staff, nurses, physios & also I had a lovely tea trolley girl have a good normal conversation with me making me feel respected like a human requiring care, should. My obs were done every 4 hours, I was flabbergasted that I was receiving this! New to me! I can’t thank the staff enough here, each and everyone. The experience I had blew me away because I was dreading what I was used to at my normal hospital. If I have choice I will always want to come here in future. Your staff here are a credit to the nhs!

  10. Review titled Being spoken to and tears whilst in A&E

by Lbee - Posted on 26 June 2023

I drove myself to St Cross, as I was told there were no ambulances available, I had stabbing pains in my stomach that were making me sick and feel as if I were going to pass out. After getting there A&E was empty and there were two ambulances in the bay. I was seen after 10 mins and taken through to Triage, triage then sent me through to the A&E ward. I was screaming in pain and got told to stop being silly and keep the noise down. I was told I would be given pain relief until the nurse saw self harm marks on my legs, they asked are those track marks? I was absolutely shocked and disgusted. After that I was told they were not treating me and that I was going to Walsgrave. I can’t write what else they said because I found it absolutely vile. My treatment was appalling. I had to discharge myself from Walsgrave yesterday because I was told if my car wasn’t moved after 24hrs I would be charged £100 plus £8 a day. I can’t afford that. I’m back at home and not fully recovered. I couldn’t even wait for the results of my CT scan because I was so worried about the car and charges.
