  1. Review titled 14 months for a epilepsy diagnosis

Rated 1 star out of 5

It has taken this department 14 months to advise me that I have epilepsy.Apparently I slipped through the net.Now I have my diagnosis and have started taking Meds,I have had a seizure this week I contacted the epilepsy nurse but she has not replied yet,so I contacted my Doctor and they advised they had not had a letter from the consultant advising of the medication I am on.Just the most frustrating and uncaring service I have ever experienced.I also found out about the diagnosis from my physio appointment when he read my notes not the consultant who surprisingly contacted me after !

  2. Review titled No reassurance and no aftercare suggestions

    by Pipbd44 - Posted on 26 August 2022

I saw two doctors on the morning of my hysterectomy for early stage endometrial cancer. Neither introduced themselves, I found the first was combative, confusing and dismissive of my worries. Didn’t appear prepared and wasn’t sure what surgery I was having! That was very worrying and hour before the surgery! Some of the things said made me fearful and feel ignorant. When I left I bolted to the loo for a weep. The second doctor I saw didn’t introduce themself either, didn’t look up from their papers and didn’t even acknowledge I had walked into the room. The first thing and only thing said was to ask if I had any questions. I was now angry and resigned to being treated so impersonally and with a lack of respect and dignity. The lack of empathy continued the next day when neither came to say how surgery had gone and instead another doctor arrived to say the surgeon said I could go home after a few checks by the nurse. No opportunity for questions, no reassurance and no aftercare suggestions. Imagine how I feel having to go back to either of those doctors for a post-op check! I certainly will try to see a different doctor when the time comes. While I accept doctors are busy and under pressure within the NHS why can’t they simply take a more human approach? It takes seconds to say hello and introduce yourself. The difference between these two and other staff I saw as part of my treatment was stark. The anaesthetists were engaged, friendly, reassuring and caring. They do say you long forget what someone did but not how they made you feel.

  3. Review titled Exemplary care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended Ward 3 Day Emergency Care. My husband was with me. I received tests that were described to me, all treated with kindness consideration and we were unhurried. We were both supplied with coffee and a snack. All in a days work for the department I imagine. A well run busy ward.

  4. Review titled So thankful

I would just like to thank the 2 very kind nurses who helped with my colposcopy on Saturday. I came in very worried and they completely distracted me and put me at ease. The doctor was super respectful as well. They are all an asset to your hospital and the nhs.
