  1. Review titled Great A&E and GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The emergency department and it’s out of hours GP considered my needs well and acted instantly without any roadblocks, unlike the horrible desk people at the GPs who made it their life’s work to not let me see a doctor.

  2. Review titled Doctor with no compassion

    by septemberep96 - Posted on 25 January 2023

On the advice of 111 and out of concern, I took a woman in her seventies into AE as her sudden onset back pain deteriorated rapidly. We were met by a senior doctor whose opening gambit was how they were unlikely to be able to help, they could not prescribe any pain relief and in all likelihood would be referring her back to her GP. They appeared to make massive assumptions because we had to take her in a wheelchair and when we asked if they would just see her trying to walk they refused! We were referred to frailty team who said no because prior to this event she was not frail. The doctor was heard saying in department to nursing staff that we were unhappy. We are till sat here with no plan. Nursing staff lovely and good advocates.

  3. Review titled Professional and kind

Visited A&E with my 84 year old mother who had fallen down 10 steps. The staff were brilliant. Lovely with my mum, explained what they were doing and why. Offered tea and biscuits! In the time we were there she had Bloods/ECG/Doctors physical assessment/a talk with Frailty Team/CT scan plus fab portering service! Thank you for providing a top class service given despite all the constraints on the NHS.

  4. Review titled Lack of information

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Rick - Posted on 20 December 2022

Unfortunately I had to attend A& E on one of the days of the nurses strike, so this could have had some impact on the care I received. Nevertheless I was left in the dark as to what was happening for much of the time. During triage I was told I needed some medication and a cannula was put in my arm. This was subsequently not used. I had to ask a nurse what was happening as I was unclear about if/how I was going to be treated and when. At this point the service was good and I was offered a drink and something to eat and told what the plan was and I was having to wait for a cubicle to become available. It was difficult to understand what the doctor was telling me regarding how I was to be treated and I was not given any information on follow up when I was discharged. After being told I could go home I had to wait nearly an hour for someone to remove the cannula, and they forgot about the heart monitoring leads which I removed myself.

  5. Review titled Suffered alone for 6 hours

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had bad cramping pains suddenly at midnight and was suggested by 111 to reach A&E within next hour. I sat there for 6 hour in bad pain before I could see the doctor. Nurse promised me pain killer after 3 hours into waiting but never came back with a a Pain killer. I felt like crying being helpless.

  6. Review titled Rude & inconsistent staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 35 year old partner ended up with a stoma bag after being sent home with a perforated infected bowel 3 years ago, even after his bloods were off the scale!! It was a traumatising time to say the least... I wanted to make an official complaint but realised that one experience shouldn't be judgement of the establishment overall!! I was wrong, nurses are rude & massively inconsistent. It feels like it depends on who is working as to what rules apply! I had to take my crying children home after being on the bus for 2 hours because they weren't allowed to visit even though my partner asked if his children could visit him & was told they could! I have to say that if it wasn't for the few outstanding nurses (I wish I knew their names) I'd of had a breakdown! One of the most horrific times in my families life made worse by rude staff
