  1. Review titled Life Saving!!!!!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an episode which later was diagnosed as a stroke. At 8:00, my wife phoned 111, who in turn phoned 999. An ambulance was with me in very fast time, 3 amazing ambulance crew members had me 'blue lighted' to Hull Royal and by 9:45 I was in A & E with a drip attached to me. Following a CT Scan I was admitted to Ward 110. Every member of staff was absolutely brilliant. I cannot thank the ambulance crew, doctors, consultants, nurses and support staff enough. If it wasn't for them I would not be here to write this review. You should be extremely proud of yourselves.

  2. Review titled Could not have had better treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

All staff very good. Knowing I was nervous everyone made me comfortable and relaxed. A hello and smile greeted me. Throughout the journey explanations continued and the humour was much needed. Patience in abundance.

  3. Review titled Non-existent duty of care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Chris Dearing - Posted on 25 August 2022

I attended A&E today after having the most awful back pain, shooting pains up my spine and being in agony from the moment I woke up. I'd been having back pain for over 3months, visited my GP, was using prescription strength Ibuprofen gel, paracetamol and nothing had worked. I was advised to try stretches and exercise and to keep active, which I always am up until the last 3 months. I did stretches the night before, to try and ease the pain so I could sleep and I woke up in agony. I went to A&E and waited to be seen. 3hrs is normal so I persevered despite being so restless from the pain. I wasn't offered the chance to see a nurse but instead was called through to see a physiotherapist. After the usual questions about medication and medical history, in agony I managed to lay as flat as I could to be examined. After a few taps of my knees, a scratch on my foot and the usual checks for blood clots, the physio decided that I can't be sitting properly on my office chair and I needed to do some hip thrusts exercises every hour whilst working. I was in agony and there's clearly something wrong that isn't remotely muscle related yet I was told to leave and do some stretches, despite seeing the pain I was in. The moment I was introduced to the physio I knew this wasn't going the way I had hoped as the dreaded exercise sheets were already out of the draw before a word was spoken. As the nearest urgent treatment centre isn't doing x-rays until tomorrow, I remain in agony but will be heading there tomorrow to receive proper treatment and not be told to "just do some seated hip thrusts.

  4. Review titled Terrible antenatal appointment experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 August 2022

I had been given the wrong appointment time and the appointment had not been written in my notes by the midwife. I was over 10 mins early for the time I thought I had been given and waited to be seen - the midwife came out and told She had been waiting for me - she was incredibly rude and accusatory and essentially made out I was lying in front of the waiting room which had other people waiting to see dr/ physio etc. - at this point no other pregnant women waiting and I pointed this out, apologising for the mix up but making it clear that she could see me -there was time before her next appointment. She informed me she would have to ring her manager but that I’d have to wait until the end of the day to be seen she then disappeared for over 5 mins by which point 15 mins had passed. Which would have been enough time to have seen me. I am incredibly nervous about the birth of my 2nd child, I’m an older mum and at my last appointment I was measuring small. On top of this my first child was referred to a consultant at 2 months because of a growth issue and ended up being referred to Sheffield children's - so of course I’m extremely concerned about my pregnancy and would not deliberately miss or be late for an appointment - I’m really disappointed in the lack of compassion and care I received - I needed reassurance and I was made to feel stupid. I am dreading my next appointment.
