  1. Review titled Understandably busy, but horrendous wait in my circumstances

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 December 2023

I was advised by my Gp to attend A&E due to potential Cauda Equina. After I'd booked in & was called to the desk to be asked why I'd come into hospital, I explained the reason and also advised I am a Cancer patient. As someone with Cancer and a compromised immune system, I was booked in at about 18.30 and didn't see any medical professionals until approx 03.30 the following morning.

  2. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen Share - Posted on 07 December 2023

Visited following an Asthma attack and chest pain. Although in the end they were unrelated both were treated with care by excellent staff at all levels. The doctor was thorough, understanding and ensured I understood what was wrong. With the range of tests I had If I was a car I would not need an MOT this year. My thanks to all concerned in the department and support departments.

  3. Review titled They have hearts like lions

    by Patrick826 - Posted on 28 November 2023

I was admitted and operated on recently. I don't know whether my blocked bowel was life threatening or not, (it certainly felt so), but I have to thank all the staff there. I have to say that the level of care and compassion I, and all those around me, received is beyond measure and to maintain that day in, day out, requires special people and they have hearts like lions. All the staff, from the cleaners up warrant mention. All are hard working and all are dedicated. While I was there there was a disruptive patient, but the nurses spent that night moving us around so we weren't disturbed and I was mighty grateful for it and I feel that the positive experience I had aided my recovery. I can't thank them enough. I don't see why my experience wouldn't be the norm, so don't be disheartened by the complainers as some people are never happy.

I attended ward 6 for unplanned care due to right groin pain. I attended the unit and was welcomed by pleasant professional nurses at 9am. I was assessed by medical staff within 30 minutes. A scan was requested and carried out within 2 hours! The report was instantly available and I was leaving at 1145. What first class health care Well done all Brilliant

Attend A&E at 1110 Long wait to triage, not confidential, other patients could hear! 3hr wait to see nurse. But very happy with my care once with them, friendly and confident. Assessed by a wonderful Doctor who had a lovely bed side manner Great joint decision making

  7. Review titled Disappointing experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023

Attended Children's Emergency with 11 years old son who twisted his ankle to check if it's not broken after calling 111 first. Arrived at 6:30pm, as agreed with 111. It's 11:20pm and we are still waiting. How is this possible that simple x-ray takes around 6 hours! When information board shows that waiting time to be seen is 2hrs and 48 minutes! Surely something is wrong in here.

  8. Review titled Not listened to

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2023

With a confirmed diagnosis of bilateral subdural haematoma, I felt that I was not listened to when I described what may have caused it and felt fobbed off with a small dose of amitriptyline to 'manage the headache'. It's not a migraine or cluster headache of unknown origin, I have bleeding inside my skull which is getting worse over the past few weeks and which is not going to be resolved by 10mg of amitriptyline. I told the doctor that I had 2 separate head injuries late last year but he didn't seem interested. Now, I can't even get my GP to re-refer me in view of the pain becoming significantly worse of late, to the point that sneezing, coughing, bending down etc are agonising. Do I just wait until a serious bleed occurs causing me long-term damage? As a practising nurse and long-term NHS supporter, I really do feel let down currently.

  9. Review titled Felt like a burden

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2023

Sent by my GP after two weeks of migraines. In total I was in Hull Royal for 21 hours and 30 minutes. After seeing a doctor I was told I was getting kept in for observations and to ascertain what medication would best help me. 30 minutes later I was sent to ACU given a prescription of Naproxen, sent for an eye test, which was normal and then sent on my way 21 hours 30 mins after arriving and told if the migraines continue I should go back to my GP and if they get worse return to A & E...no thanks. I felt like I was nothing more then a burden. I was exhausted and in pain most of the night. Only offered two hot drinks and had to wait hours for medication to help. The only positive was a helpful doctor who genuinely wanted to help by keeping me in for obs. His superior thought otherwise without even seeing me sent me on my way to ACU.

  10. Review titled Trying to call the ward

    by greenmm59 - Posted on 28 September 2023

My Dad is currently on Ward 90 Hull royal Infirmary. I live 1.5 hours away. I have spent all afternoon ringing the ward, directly and through the operator. No one answers. I’ve tried calling PALS, no one is in to answer. This is extremely stressful. I understand they are busy, I’m a nurse also, this is really beyond a joke! In total I have called 30 times
