Review titled Outstanding service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Judy Jowers - Posted on 30 January 2024
From the moment I entered Medical Outpatients to be seen by the Rheumatology Department I was treated with great consideration, patience and kindness. All the staff went out of their way to put me at my ease, willingly answered questions and anticipated my needs. I was even offered a wheelchair which arrived promptly, was sanitised and proved to be of real benefit. Waiting times were minimal and the organisation was excellent; in the space of just over two hours I had seen the consultant, had blood samples taken, been given a steroid injection and had 3 x-rays. I left feeling reassured and knowing a plan was in place for treatment. The Rheumatology Department is to be highly commended.

Review titled 1st Class Treatment Received
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steve Grice - Posted on 09 December 2023
I had to attend Hull Royal Infirmary today for an x-ray on my foot. I was seen quickly and informed that unfortunately I had broken bones in my foot. The care I received was absolutely outstanding from checking in to being discharged back to North Staffs for additional treatment. I know that the NHS are constantly getting poor press but today for me they were outstanding in every way. Thank you to everyone that assisted me today at the Accident and Emergency Dept it is very much appreciated.

Review titled Disappointing care.
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My NHS treatment has been outsourced to the Spire Hospital Hull. I was advised by Spire Hospital that the waiting time for a nerve block was up to 12 weeks. Now I have told that because the consultant Radiologists are extremely busy I could wait up to 20 weeks or longer. However, if I went privately I would only have to wait 2 weeks.

Review titled Extremely friendly and helpful staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Angela - Posted on 15 December 2023
On the context of squeezed services and a lot of pressure, I wanted to leave a review as I was so very impressed with the staff in hull royal’s orthopaedics department. I e visited twice now, and have witnessed and received such friendly, patient and caring interactions from all the staff - nurses and orderlies through to consultant. I watched how other patients are spoken to and was thinking how pleased I’d be if an elderly relative of mine was receiving this level of care. Thank you for being such a kind and caring bunch. Appointments here have been a pleasure, and even just sitting in the waiting area hearing how everyone is interacting has been heartwarming. Well done.

Review titled Understandably busy, but horrendous wait in my circumstances
Rated 1 star out of 5

I was advised by my Gp to attend A&E due to potential Cauda Equina. After I'd booked in & was called to the desk to be asked why I'd come into hospital, I explained the reason and also advised I am a Cancer patient. As someone with Cancer and a compromised immune system, I was booked in at about 18.30 and didn't see any medical professionals until approx 03.30 the following morning.

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stephen Share - Posted on 07 December 2023
Visited following an Asthma attack and chest pain. Although in the end they were unrelated both were treated with care by excellent staff at all levels. The doctor was thorough, understanding and ensured I understood what was wrong. With the range of tests I had If I was a car I would not need an MOT this year. My thanks to all concerned in the department and support departments.

Review titled They have hearts like lions
by Patrick826 - Posted on 28 November 2023
I was admitted and operated on recently. I don't know whether my blocked bowel was life threatening or not, (it certainly felt so), but I have to thank all the staff there. I have to say that the level of care and compassion I, and all those around me, received is beyond measure and to maintain that day in, day out, requires special people and they have hearts like lions. All the staff, from the cleaners up warrant mention. All are hard working and all are dedicated. While I was there there was a disruptive patient, but the nurses spent that night moving us around so we weren't disturbed and I was mighty grateful for it and I feel that the positive experience I had aided my recovery. I can't thank them enough. I don't see why my experience wouldn't be the norm, so don't be disheartened by the complainers as some people are never happy.

I attended ward 6 for unplanned care due to right groin pain. I attended the unit and was welcomed by pleasant professional nurses at 9am. I was assessed by medical staff within 30 minutes. A scan was requested and carried out within 2 hours! The report was instantly available and I was leaving at 1145. What first class health care Well done all Brilliant
