Review titled Care, dignity and professionalism
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Hayley Smith - Posted on 15 November 2023
I was admitted to Ward 60 for gall stones, I had my gall bladder removed and was in hospital for a week, I have special needs, this review is written by my father, Stephen Smith. The care my daughter received was 2nd to none, she has now recovered and I cannot thank all the staff on Ward 60 enough, for the dedication of housekeeping to nursing staff to the surgeons, what A professional team providing care and dedication to the highest standard, always there with a smiling face Thank you all so much

Attend A&E at 1110 Long wait to triage, not confidential, other patients could hear! 3hr wait to see nurse. But very happy with my care once with them, friendly and confident. Assessed by a wonderful Doctor who had a lovely bed side manner Great joint decision making

Review titled Disappointing experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023
Attended Children's Emergency with 11 years old son who twisted his ankle to check if it's not broken after calling 111 first. Arrived at 6:30pm, as agreed with 111. It's 11:20pm and we are still waiting. How is this possible that simple x-ray takes around 6 hours! When information board shows that waiting time to be seen is 2hrs and 48 minutes! Surely something is wrong in here.

Review titled Not listened to
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2023
With a confirmed diagnosis of bilateral subdural haematoma, I felt that I was not listened to when I described what may have caused it and felt fobbed off with a small dose of amitriptyline to 'manage the headache'. It's not a migraine or cluster headache of unknown origin, I have bleeding inside my skull which is getting worse over the past few weeks and which is not going to be resolved by 10mg of amitriptyline. I told the doctor that I had 2 separate head injuries late last year but he didn't seem interested. Now, I can't even get my GP to re-refer me in view of the pain becoming significantly worse of late, to the point that sneezing, coughing, bending down etc are agonising. Do I just wait until a serious bleed occurs causing me long-term damage? As a practising nurse and long-term NHS supporter, I really do feel let down currently.

Review titled Felt like a burden
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2023
Sent by my GP after two weeks of migraines. In total I was in Hull Royal for 21 hours and 30 minutes. After seeing a doctor I was told I was getting kept in for observations and to ascertain what medication would best help me. 30 minutes later I was sent to ACU given a prescription of Naproxen, sent for an eye test, which was normal and then sent on my way 21 hours 30 mins after arriving and told if the migraines continue I should go back to my GP and if they get worse return to A & E...no thanks. I felt like I was nothing more then a burden. I was exhausted and in pain most of the night. Only offered two hot drinks and had to wait hours for medication to help. The only positive was a helpful doctor who genuinely wanted to help by keeping me in for obs. His superior thought otherwise without even seeing me sent me on my way to ACU.

Review titled Trying to call the ward
by greenmm59 - Posted on 28 September 2023
My Dad is currently on Ward 90 Hull royal Infirmary. I live 1.5 hours away. I have spent all afternoon ringing the ward, directly and through the operator. No one answers. I’ve tried calling PALS, no one is in to answer. This is extremely stressful. I understand they are busy, I’m a nurse also, this is really beyond a joke! In total I have called 30 times

Review titled Lied to about my care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023
My 15yo was fasted from 07:00am for a 12:30admission. She was told that she was first on the list by the anaesthetist, this was changed to last on the operating list and she was not informed. She was sent for and waited in the theatre waiting area only to be told at 4:45pm that she was being cancelled due to an emergency however when the hospital rang to rebook her op date I was informed that she had been cancelled as the operating list had overrun in the morning and so they didn't have time to do her. An honest answer and being kept up to date live time with what was happening regarding her care would have been very helpful and also saved a lot of heartache and one very upset patient who has been left extremely apprehensive about going back in again.

Review titled Excellent efficient service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lauren - Posted on 02 September 2023
I was surprised how efficiently I was seen at A&E as I appreciate the stress on the NHS at the moment. Staff at the front desks were friendly and informative. I arrived around 2pm and had bloods taken, cannula fitted, IV medication given, a trip up to the ENT ward, and a taxi then booked to take me up to castle hill as no beds at hull royal and the backlog of ambulances meant a taxi was offered. All of this was was arranged as swiftly as the staff could and I arrived at castle hill by 6pm which I didn’t think was a long wait time. I was so pleased to be dealt with efficiently as I felt so poorly. My only complaint would be the people sat in the main waiting area tucking into food, so much eating! Not nice when you feel poorly and you can smell food or hear people crunching, in my opinion this should not be allowed… my sister attended with me and she sat and starved the whole time as we presumed food isn’t allowed. Not very hygienic if you ask me
