  1. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 March 2023

My mum spent the day in a&e being assessed and waiting for a bed on the ward. The staff were so nice and kind, always checking in on how mum was and offering us drinks. Their care and compassion for my mum, who has dementia was fantastic. Thank you!

  2. Review titled Wait for Urgent Appointment - no support

by Psicocat - Posted on 27 March 2023

I am waiting for an urgent neurosurgery appointment. Got through on number given after 45 minutes. Can't give me an update as they don't have that info. Transferred to another number 10 minutes later to be asked why I'm ringing that number! Explained I was transferred. Was told they can't help me, but amounts for urgent are about a month wait. Its been 7 weeks now. Was told it could be August, they can't tell me more.

  3. Review titled Visit to Gynaecology Department Hull Royal Infirmary

    by Patricia5787 - Posted on 28 March 2023

Managed to find a parking space. The new system of payment is better as you pay when you leave the car park which means that you don't have to worry about and late appointments. It is pleasant walking in the grounds of HRI and the department I visited was very efficient. I have no complaints with the NHS. or Hull Hospital. A & E is completely different, I think it could work better without Government interference, targets etc. The staff work as hard as they can. I think they need more staff and encouragement.

  4. Review titled Outrageous

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2023

The staff were friendly thats the only positive. I filled 111 form. Went to urgent care centre. Waited 4 hours for results only to be told to go to a and e. Waited five hours for heart results. After five hours we left without the results because we had been in hospitals since 11am to 9pm. We didn't eat or drink. No one was wearing face masks. I am likely to die with stress from waiting and contracting an illness from being around people for so long with no protection. Absolutely awful. No wonder the bbc said we have the worse service in the whole of the uk

  7. Review titled A&E was so well run

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by SteveB - Posted on 11 February 2023

I don't usually think about giving reviews but I have gone out of my way to give this one. I was sent to Accident & Emergency at Hull Royal by my doctor to investigate something that could have been life threatening at any time. Happily the outcome, after only 5 hours was a good one. I was very impressed by the super efficient and friendly way I was dealt with from start to finish. I registered my arrival at the "walk-in" entry point then waited my turn. The doctor was so thorough and left no stone unturned. He was fast and efficient with a no nonsense attitude. He even took blood samples himself which saved time. Like many people, I dislike this kind of thing but I can honestly say I felt nothing! He then set up x-ray and ekg tests before going to the next stage. My experience in x-ray was similar, no messing about and a quick very friendly service. Then a young nurse came to find me and she then did an ekg in another area, again friendly and very efficient. After that I waited in the public area again. The blood test results came back much quicker than expected and at that point I was called back into the consulting room. The results were discussed and my questions answered and after that I was (luckily) able to go home. After seeing varous negative Accident & Emergency news reports, I felt it was essential to balance those with my very positive experience on the 10th February 2023 at A&E in Hull. Thank you all for providing such a valuable service for when we need it at the most unexpected times. What I experienced shows how effective careful planning to create the current A&E environment and a great staff team effort to work in it can do.

  8. Review titled Brilliant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Samantha - Posted on 07 February 2023

When I walked into A and E, with a very sore and bruised foot, it said a 7 hour wait time, within a couple of hours that had gone up to a 10 hour and 20 min wait time, so thought I would be there along time. The nurses and consultants were working so hard to get patients seen quickly. There was even staff that brought around free tea or coffee and biscuits. After 3 and a half hours I had been seen(also had a xray in that time) and was calling a taxi to go home, fracture clinic phone call tomorrow.

We had to take our son to the Beverley and Hull Royal A & E departments yesterday and then was referred to the Urology department at Castle Hill late last night. We can’t thank all the staff at each hospital enough, each and everyone of them from the reception staff to the nurses and doctors. They were all so amazing, caring and friendly. Thank you

  10. Review titled I am in constant pain

by Caterine - Posted on 21 February 2023

I have pmr and osteoarthritis , for the last three year. First I have encountered many uninterested doctors who for some reason don't belive I have pmr. And because of this I am in pain. I no longer take steroids but I was given steriod injections which did work on my shoulders these were administrated in November. My pain has returned but I do not know when the next will take place. I have tried to call the rheumatology help line several times this week, I did manage to leave a message and someone called me back, but my phone cut this call of because I have a call bar on withheld numbers. I did try to call back but this time when I reached a dialing tone the phone line cut my call off. I started my calls on Tuesday every day till Friday but I ess unable to leave another message. I finally called the hospital help line and I gave a message to let the nurse know I was in pain. The receptionist I spoke to was very rude said that the line was paid for she could not help I must use it, I explained that I had tried my best to do this but the system was not working, reluctantly she put me through that's when I was able to speak to someone. It is Saturday now and no one has called me back or made appointment with rheumatology. This illness is not the only problem I have. I have a leg ulcer very painful and recently I had a operation to remove a polyp from my womb and now after the biopsy going to see a surgeon and consultant to see the next steps as I have cancer cells in my womb lining. And another appointment regarding surgery because a consultant feels my weight is stopping my ulcer from healing. I know this has nothing to do with rheumatology but I am in pain and dealing with everything else that is happening to me. My doctors only ever do telephone calls and I have been told repeatedly that there is nothing else they can do for me, which leaves me in a dilemma. I moved to Withernsea from west yorkshire and I do feel that I have had worse treatment here that I did there. Covid hit when my bariatric surgery was meant to take place and because I was on steroids I had gained weight and I was told before that if I did put weight on the surgery would not happen, and as I did I canceled the programme I was on. Now everything seems to be put down to my weight even the ruptured achilles heal that the surgery won't do because I am too fat. Is this the reason no one will help me with my other issues and my pain? At the moment my life is pretty rubbish I'm constantly in pain, my ulcer my knees because of the brittle bones and I suppose no one will fix this either because of the weight but happy to do bariatric surgery, but not on my knees, or ruptured achilles surly this operation is more dangerous to my life. And what if I do have womb cancer am I too fat to have an hysterectomy or not? Meanwhile am I meant to grin a bear my pain till everyone deems I am or not. This what has happening in this area that everyone has become complacent about how people like me are suffering.
