  1. Review titled Amazing department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lilith Holdsworth - Posted on 17 December 2024

I just wanted to pass on my praise for the dermatology department! I had an appointment with them 2 days after being seen by GP. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The initial nurse and Dr were friendly and warming - I was also seen bang on time! They then managed to fit me in for a punch biopsy, where the HCA and nurse were great and super efficient. I was there a total of 23 minutes. Everyone was professional, polite and welcoming and I couldn't sing their praise anymore. I am sorry I haven't been able to provide names, I can't remember but please pass this on as I feel positive feedback is often lost and people should know that they are doing a fantastic job!

  2. Review titled Excellent Experience!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tony Miller - Posted on 13 December 2024

I recently attended the Ipswich Heart Centre for a pacemaker to be fitted. I was naturally rather nervous about this operation, but the whole experience was amazing, both clinical and nursing staff were kind, professional, and instantly put me at ease. Hopefully they will read this so I can convey my heartfelt (!) appreciation & best wishes to them all.

  3. Review titled Issues in need of attention

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 November 2024

My review is in regard of two recent visits to Ips. hospital. [1] A day appointment relating to a biopsy regarding the base of my spine. [2] An emergency stay of over a week regarding a sudden swelling of both my knees. [1] In all aspects I was treated well during the biopsy. This treatment also includes the previous pre-op scans. - where explanations were given to what else was shown on the scans. In total this included my spine and the previously unknown developing hernia in my intestines. Also abnormalities - polyps(?) were shown on my right kidney, which brought in another team of experts. I was sent home with pain killers. [2] 1st point. At home, I woke up with the loss of use of my left knee. By evening ,via '111', an ambulance was called for - It came quickly from Colchester (as a back-up to Ipswich hospital's shortage) the team was excellent & treated me extremely well. Arriving at A&E, I was wheeled into a bed area for sepsis tests by the ambulance team. By now the pain in both knees was unbearable. Made worse by lack of attention by the 'housekeeper' of the ward, who was more intent on spending considerable time reprimanding, individually, the two ambulance people who had not fully understood the hospital's method of admissions. When I asked for a supporting pillow for my knees I was told - 'in good time' - while he was fussing over straightening blanket covers. Also, because my breathing is far from good when laying flat, I asked for the head of the bed to be raised. Again I was expected to wait - so I grabbed my dressing gown and bundled it under my head. To which he then threw down whatever he was holding and stomped off. Leaving the nurse to attend to me - the patient - with proper concern. The 'housekeeper' made a point of ignoring me for the rest of my time there. 2nd point. I was moved to a room (cell) in the Green Hub. There is no other word than 'cell' - bare grey walls without a window except a frosted glass panel in the door. Nothing to look at but a large wall clock ticking away the seconds, minutes and hours at the end of the bed! Being in a side corridor, with little passing movement outside the room the bell very rarely got answered. I have no need to enter a prison cell to know what solitary confinement would be like! How can this be an acceptable design in a new build? Once moved to Needham Ward I found the staff very pleasant & helpful. And the mix with other patients in the ward made the whole stay as pleasant as possible, for which I would like to thank them.

  4. Review titled Shockingly dirty

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Emily Jensen - Posted on 24 November 2024

Had minor surgery recently, was requested to bath/shower beforehand and use alcohol gel in hospital. Waited five hours in a room with fresh blood (not mine) on the filthy armchair. Unidentified dark splatters on the wall panels. Excellent care from staff but the cleaners really need to do a lot better.

  6. Review titled Cosmetically looks good but

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 October 2024

The new A&E looks good but the service is failing. Not enough seating, not enough staff and patients being triagged in corner of waiting room so no privacy as entire waiting room can hear their medical issues. Biggest problem though is lack of communication. Left to wait for 27hours in A&E waiting for admission to a ward, everytime asked staff for an update they didn't know. No food provided as were told to bring our own and no sense of patient care.

  7. Review titled Outstanding Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred to ENT and as the waiting list is long an MRI scan was arranged which I had within weeks. I then needed another scan which was done a week later. The Consultant phoned me the next day to say everything was normal. I never expected to receive such personal service. Everyone I came into contact with, the secretaries, scanning staff and Consultant were so caring towards me. I cannot praise ENT and the imaging department highly enough. Thank you so much.

  8. Review titled Unable to fault

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liam Dodd - Posted on 11 October 2024

I had two appointments in the last 10 days after an accident on holiday resulted in hearing loss. The two nurses I dealt with were fantastic. I had only been waiting 5-10 minutes before being seen on both occasions. They were thorough and pleasant and I didn't get the feeling I was a burden or that they were in a hurry to get me back out the door. They both talked me through the process and explained what they were doing. I was offered options and really good advice for the future. For what I was expecting to be an unpleasant experience, in reality, was quite the opposite. Thank you Ipswich NHS and the two fantastic nurses.

  9. Review titled Great practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I needed lycra supports for my legs so I went to the orthotics department. I have a rare disability so I bring a lot of lived experience to the table which can sometimes be ignored by doctors who are not familiar with my disability. This was not the case here. They allowed me to explain how my legs work and what I need. It was like we were a team trying to make supports which work for my legs together. Great experience!
