  1. Review titled excellent emergency care but no follow up

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 August 2024

The stroke team in A&E, and the team on the ward, were excellent. I was told that I would receive a letter after 8 weeks with an appointment for a follow-up phone call, but 11 weeks later this hasn't happened. It isn't important to me, as I have seen a cardiologist privately, but it might well be important to others. Clearly the system isn't working quite as it should.

I am 51 and waited almost a year to be seen for HRT, my appointment with a Volunteer Doctor whos name the review will not let me put, and she was amazing. I felt listen to, understood and with a plan as to how I can get my life back. Living with Perimenopause and menopause can be a nightmare the Doctor has helped me see it dose not have to be that way. All of the staff were very helpful. I highly recommend and am very grateful.

  4. Review titled System down the drain

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Lucie Richardson - Posted on 28 May 2024

My partner undergone extensive surgery, having handsize tumour removed from his nasal cavity in Colchester hospital.Having lost almost litre of blood,he hadbeen transferred to Ipswich hospital the very next day.Despite bed was waiting for him in Sproughton ward,he was made waiting in A&E for hour and half to see triage nurse. Why?! No chairs to sit on,risk of catching infection and still 6 people in front of us.One kind nurse made the call as she saw how exhausted my partner was and we were on the ward within 10 mins. The system is all wrong. Why my partner had to go through A&E,when he had his diagnosis and op already and bed secured and all paperwork in order? Once on ward the care was lovely, from his amazing surgeons to attentive nurses, just "following the procedure" of admission from one hospital to another was a massive let down.

  5. Review titled Caring staff

I had a rather long MRI scan today. The staff who were operating the equipment were incredible putting me at ease and being so patient with me. As for the equipment, well, what can I say, no longer felt claustrophobic with the new addition. What a clever idea. Someone needs a medal!!!

  6. Review titled Disgraceful 6.5 Hour Wait In A&E

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024

Called 111 who advised to go straight to A&E and booked a slot. Arrived on time to an uncaring attitude from overwhelmed staff. Triage was not private as was carried out in a public corridor near the reception desk for all to hear-breaching patient confidentiality! Waited and waited in considerable pain which fell on deaf ears. Staff were beyond slow, uncaring, unhelpful and quite honestly couldn’t care less. 6.5 hours after entering A&E I was finally seen by a doctor who was dismissive and advised to ask my GP for a scan. I advised politely of the wait time and why he couldn’t send me for one, his response “this is the A&E dept, not ultrasound “ Absolutely disgraceful response!! Complete waste of time, no sleep and an awful experience.

  7. Review titled Fantastic care and treatment with human touch

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kelvin - Posted on 26 April 2024

Attended today for day surgery in the Raedwald ward . Was greeted in a timely manner by my lovely nurse (not allowed to use name but you know who you are ) - enjoy Greece ! . Given a nice clean room and checked up on by another very attentive nurse checking on me regularly . Both were chatty making me feel really at ease . Surgery was completed in a quick time and there was very little waiting . I was kept completely informed at every stage of the day and was provided with coffee and toast following the surgery . Out by just after lunch . The doctor was professional and done a great job but the personal touch and true care of these nurses is what makes the NHS. I know there are parts of the NHS that require improvements but the commitment these two had was clear to see today and I can’t thank you enough . You’re a bloody credit to your organisation and long may it continue . Thankyou ladies x x

  8. Review titled Professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have not attended a hospital for at least 20years, I have never been to Ipswich Hospital. I was a day patient and every member of staff I met was Professional, Kind, Informative and compassionate, the hospital was clean and there was no litter inside or out as far as I could see. I was very nervous and this by all who attended me was taken into consideration. I probably will never have to go back to this hospital but if I did there certainly would be no anxiety. My procedure was dealt with in a calm and respectful way and I was informed every step of the way as to what was happening. The theatre staff, recovery staff, outpatient ward and my surgeon were exemplary. Thank you. Joanne Kemp

  10. Review titled Wonderful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rachel - Posted on 26 March 2024

Having been highly anxious to attend this appointment due to historic issues, the staff went above and beyond with their kindness and consideration during my appointment. They really were brilliant, the hospital was clean and I waited no more than 5 minutes until being called. Thanks Stour Ward. And thanks to the NHS.
