Review titled Such a Friendly Hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2024
My mum recently had to have surgery in the vascular unit and had to stay for a couple of nights. Every member of staff we met, nurses, doctors, consultants, surgeons, were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Mum was on Kent Ward and she was extremely well looked after. All of the nurses, porters, cleaners & catering staff, were friendly and cheerful which made mum's stay much better. Even when we weren't on the ward, any staff we saw around the hospital were always happy to help if we were trying to find our way somewhere. Thank you everyone at K&C for making a challenging time much easier and less stressful for us.

Review titled Great expertise and extraordinary kindness - Dermatology
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Polly - Posted on 03 March 2024
Last week I had Mohs surgery for two patches of basal cell carcinoma on my face. I have been extremely anxious about what had felt a very invasive and distressing procedure, especially coming after a series of cancers, and with a backdrop for me of difficult trauma from other chapters of my life. I feel such immense gratitude for the dedicated dermatology team in this instance and the wider department in general (because I have needed their help before, and ongoing). I was treated with extraordinary kindness in advance and on the day, and I know I received the very best care. Having worked previously in developing countries I am acutely aware of the privilege to have such treatment. The surgeon was so expert and other team members so supportive, I was nicely sedated to manage, the cancer is out and I have been stitched up incredibly neatly. I feel huge relief and great gratitude. The East Kent Hospitals have cared for me so well over the years. I never take this for granted. I feel we have amazing medical staff, facilities and resources in this part of the country. Thank you to everyone so very much.

Review titled Telephone accessibility
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mike Samson. - Posted on 26 February 2024
I am experiencing terrible difficulties using the telephone service at the hospital. Trying to contact the MRI department is virtually impossible to get a reply to my calls to try to gain access for an appointment query. If people cannot access this department to cancel an appointment then that doesn't enable smooth and efficient running of the department. I remain Mike Samson.

I have taken my wife to the urgent care facility 4 or 5 times over the last few months. We have always been treated professionally and politely by all of the staff members. The waiting times have also been quite reasonable.

Review titled Radiology Reception
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 April 2024
For somebody with breathing problems who has three monthly scans the placement of CT/MRI scans reception is a joke. After parking it’s a 5 min walk to ct dept then you are directed to reception which is a five min walk. Then I was directed to D area for my CT. This is in another part of the hospital and a ten min walk away. Actually outside the outpatients entrance. The guys there are brilliant but have no ultrasound machine if they can’t find a vein. They then chase around to get one. After the scan you then have to walk back to the place you have parked and another trek. Radiology give no consideration for people that have mobility issues.

Thank you for your feedback. I absolutely agree wholeheartedly with your comments. There needs to be a better process and better signposting put in place so that all patients needs are met. It is not a case of one size fits and all and not everyone as you quite rightly point out has the ability to walk so far. I can assure you this is something that the Trust is trying to work on and improve. If you would like to discuss further please can you contact my team via our email address which is ekhuft.patientvoice@nhs.net Kind regards Josh Page (Patient Feedback Co-Ordinator)

Review titled BCC Removal
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 January 2024
Attended for bcc removal on forehead, nurses very kind, but the anaesthetic injections were the most excruciatingly painful. Three times the needle was “Shoved in “ , not gently and slowly. I had a bcc removed from my nose 2 years ago and it was almost painless compared to this . I have another bcc that needs attention but I would never let this man remove it.

Review titled First Class Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Claire Cullen - Posted on 19 December 2023
I had a total knee replacement on the 11th December. The staff , clinical and non clinical were excellent and I was very well looked after, ensuring they got my pain relief etc well controlled before discharge home. For anyone who is waiting for a new hip or knee and are due to have it done at K&C I have no doubt you will be treated very well.
