Review titled Eye Department Kings College Orpington
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 October 2024
Mum is dementia patient. Previously we went to Sidcup and there were long waits and I was stressed. Mum is now in a care home, we arrange transport with G4S and I meet her there. The staff at Orpington Eye Department are amazing. I have stressed to them the shorter the time we are in there the better the outcome and they have taken this on board. They are great with mum and move her through the system quickly which means that she gets the injections in her eyes that are needed. It's not only that, the staff treat her like she is a person rather than a number, they remember her and take the time to come and chat to her. It really does make life easier. Mum's eyesight is important, and these ladies are important to me to keep mum's eyesight. Thank you lovely ladies xx

Review titled Not a good service even for KCH staffs
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2024
KCH Staffs are not given a leeway even just for checking in. I don’t mind waiting for my turn, i asked politely to be checked-in only as I arrived early. Very unemphathetic for a staff with condition.

Review titled dept. fetal medicine , scanning was horrible
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ann - Posted on 05 July 2024
I recently had a growth scan appointment at Kings College Hospital Department of Fetal Medicine, and unfortunately, the experience was quite distressing. The sonographer(he) who conducted the scan applied excessive pressure during the procedure, causing discomfort, particularly in sensitive areas such as my breast and belly. Despite my feedback about the discomfort, it was not addressed adequately. his arm was resting in my breast during the scan. I felt that the focus of the staff appeared to be more on research data collection rather than on conducting a thorough scan and measurements of the baby. This raised concerns about whether all necessary information was obtained during the appointment. Specifically, there were missed opportunities to provide detailed information about the positioning and growth of my fibroids and placenta. The sonographer mentioned that the fibroids were in the same position as before but did not measure or provide further details. Additionally, while various tests were conducted for research purposes, there was a lack of clarity or consent process regarding the collection of this data. Having relocated near Kings College Hospital after the 30th week of my pregnancy, I had previously attended appointments at another reputable hospital in London where the ultrasound scans and blood checks were conducted in a more professional manner, without the focus on research data collection. Overall, this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and concerned about the ethical considerations of the care provided. I believe there is room for improvement in ensuring that patient comfort, thoroughness of examinations, and transparency regarding research data collection are prioritized in future appointments.

Review titled Disappointed today
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 July 2024
In the past I have had very positive experiences at the Harris Birthright but today female research fellow initials M T* (it says names cannot be included but this is not a name. I am not naming and shaming but would have thought it was helpful for internal staff to be able to identify poor practice by clinicians or how can you improve?) was rude and unpleasant. I was having contractions but instead of giving me time to breath she just kept trying to push in harder and harder. When I asked if the baby was ok she was completely dismissive of the question like it was irrelevant to her. I have seen lots of people complain about the research scientists at the centre, that they have no bedside manner etc but this was my first negative experience here.

Review titled Mammogram care at its best
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Louise - Posted on 10 July 2024
No one looks forward to a mammogram but this centre is very calm. My radiologist was very professional and kind. As a short person, I find the gymnastics quite tricky ( wish they could sort this for anyone 155cm and under). Let's face it, a smear is worse; this is a little ouchy. But I am so grateful that I live in a country where I am invited to have a regular breast check. Please attend if you receive an invitation

Review titled 13 hours sat in a chair
Rated 1 star out of 5
by James - Posted on 29 May 2024
I'll start with the nice part, the nurses who we dealt with were lovely and tried their hardest. But my partner was waiting 13 hours being moved around waiting for a bed after being told he had to have an emergency operation for septic arthritis in his arm. He was in pain and this is totally unacceptable!! Along with this we had 5 people with serious mental health issues screaming at us, swearing, and 1 of the stood staring at us wanting to start a fight. There was 1 man following the guy but nothing to stop him intimidating us. We felt extremely anxious and moved seats numerous times because we were getting shouted at. It has now been 26 hours and my partner is still waiting for the operation that they said was critical. It's so unfair to put people in these situations when they are already feeling horrendous. Please sort out security to help normal people attending the hospital and have a separate area for people with severe mental health issues.

Review titled Clinicians are good, administration beyond awful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 May 2024
Literally hours of my life have been spent phoning different departments, on hold, with calls being cut off, desperately trying to find out why my son has not been given the appointments and scans I was told he needed. Emails asking for help have been ignored. I have been passed from paediatrics to other Departments and back again. Internal systems don’t talk to each other and when we did last suceed in getting an appointment paediatrics was so rammed we spent two hours sitting on the floor in what can only be described as third world conditions. My family has multiple complex conditions and Kings is the very worst hospital we have to deal with - it doesn’t need to be this difficult, stressful and unpleasant.
