  1. Review titled Worse experience after 2 failed re-do Esg procedure

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2024

Went to A&E Loose stitches with vomiting blood . Been discharged both times before dr checking on me . Now I have been chasing this for more than a year with trauma and anxiety. I’m afraid it was the worse experience I had at King’s college hospital endoscopy department

  2. Review titled The Urgent Treatment Centre at King's is fast & fantastic

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Simon Nicholson - Posted on 18 May 2023

On the 18/05/2023, I attended the, Urgent Treatment Centre at King's College Hospital. I arrived at 08:35 hours and registered and within less than 10 minutes I was seen by a triage nurse. Within 30 minutes I was seen by a nurse practitioner who examined me and sent me for an X ray. Within less than 10 minutes I received an X ray. Within less than 30 minutes I was seen by the same nurse practitioner who examined me. She told me my results, which eased my mind no end. I left the Urgent Treatment Centre, at 10:00 hours. From start to finish I was treated with respect and the staff are a credit to the hospital, the NHS and they should be congratulated. From start to finish the experience was fantastic. I would recommend the Urgent Treatment Centre at King's College Hospital, to anyone requiring medical attention.

  3. Review titled Terrible maternity experience

    by greenrj68 - Posted on 30 August 2023

I wasn't happy with my experiences at the Harris Birthright Centre. The building may be flashy and 'impressive', but my experience of having scans there was disturbing for the following reasons: 1. When I first went, they asked if I would take part in research, but they didn't fully explain what it would entail or how much time it would add to my appointments. 2. My scans took absolutely ages, and they had to take photos of almost every body part. I since realised that this was because I had agreed to participate in the research. 3. All of the sonographers I saw were cold and unfriendly. Also I could barely hear what they were saying, even when I asked them to speak up. 4. They didn't really seem bothered about how it may be exciting or even emotional to see your baby for the first time, nor did they make it easy to take decent photos. They very easily could send better quality screenshots, or maybe invest in a printer and give the service users a print out seeing as we are giving them pretty valuable data, not to mention our time...!! 5. All of the sonographers pressed very hard with their equipment which was painful and they continued even when I said it was hurting me. 6. One of the sonographers got a bit irate because my baby was not playing ball and shook my tummy really hard without asking for my consent or giving me any warning. 7. At my final scan, I agreed to participate in another piece of research regarding pre-eclampsia. I made sure to ask how much time it would add to my appointment, and was told it would add just 5 minutes. I was also told that I would have my eyes scanned, and blood pressure measured at three different sites, which were not revealed at the time. Unfortunately, agreeing to participate in this study added about 20 minutes to my appointment (which was already a very time consuming scan like the previous ones), and when it came to the blood pressure reading I had a monitor strapped around my arm, thigh and neck which was particularly unpleasant and slightly distressing as it felt like I was being strangled. Not ideal at that (or any) stage of pregnancy...!? I have no idea why they don't just explain this stuff beforehand because they will save themselves from future bad reviews/complaints. My partner and I had a terrible experience in the labour ward and postnatal ward.

  4. Review titled Went in for referral but never heard from them again

    by JamesW1234 - Posted on 08 August 2023

I went in for a referral for surgery. I was verbally approved for the surgery but have had no response even to numerous phone calls and requests. Very disappointing

  5. Review titled Post Op

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 May 2023

Had mvd surgery in 2020. All follow up appointments were by telephone (even though this is a physical disability) which were either not on the date it was booked nor at the correct time (the first call the person I spoke to didn't even know when I had had the operation). Nor was it ever with the surgeon who did the operation. The final call lasted less than 5 minutes where I was told there was nothing further that could be done and that I would have to learn to live with it. There appears to be no concern on how this type of news can affect you mentally and certainly shouldn't be delivered via a telephone call.

  6. Review titled Fantastic care and treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lynda Rowlinson - Posted on 23 June 2023

My 89 yr old stepfather was transferred to Kinnier Wilson ward as an emergency admission from the Princess Royal, Orpington on 25/05/23 due to a subdural haemorrhage. The care from the medical team, Allied Health Professionals and ward nurses was exemplary (shout out to the Occupational Therapists who explained what was going on so patiently). He had surgery on Saturday 27th May & discharged home almost back to his usual self on Tues 30th May. Incredible! I cannot single out any one member of staff as all were so respectful and kind to my stepfather, as well as to all the family who visited. This really is the NHS at it's very best & I feel quite emotional that we may lose such a valuable institution and its staff, if we don't show our appreciation for the amazing work you all do.....Thank you!

  7. Review titled Grandsons liver transplant care

    by julietkb67 - Posted on 16 May 2023

My grandson in his 20s is currently on Todd ward after a liver transplant, the care he is receiving is appalling, he has now been in chronic pain for 4 days , can’t sleep don’t feel like eating , the pain killers he is receiving are not helping at all , and after saying this many times nothing has changed , the staff are very slow in there response to pushing the button , which I might add he doesn’t do unless he really needs to. He is a model patient and not at all needy , there is no communication they don’t know anything when asked , no empathy or compassion and they are definitely not run off there feet most of time there, sitting on their screens god knows why ? Because they're obviously not finding out about their patients otherwise they would know more. Must say there are a couple who are not to bad , and the doctors when you get to see them are in the most part helpful but the ward it’s self is very incapable of proper care .

Dear @julietkb67, I am so sorry to hear about your grandson's poor experiences. This is not the quality of care we strive to deliver. Are you please able to drop me an e-mail at patricia.mecinska@nhs.net so I can look into this for you?

  9. Review titled Rude receptionist hung op on me

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2023

I just spoke to a receptionist who is incredibly rude at the Harris Birthright Centre. When I could not give her my hospital number she hung up on me and then proceeded to not picking up the phone. How irresponsible? from someone working in healthCARE? I then spoke to a gentleman who helped me and gave me what I needed in under 1 minute. It is such a shame as the service is otherwise great. She should not work there.
