  1. Review titled Superior department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was re-admitted for Craniotomy surgery following a previous ruptured brain aneurysm. The initial surgery for the rupture found that I had 2 more aneurysms. I had consultations with my neurosurgeon and was advised that Craniotomy was the best option for 1 aneurysm and that a coil embolisation was best for the other. I had my surgery in July and will be returning in September for the embolisation. Overall the staff in this dept are amazing. The nature of my surgery was to open my skull and to clip the aneurysm. This was a daunting and scary process and I was made to feel calm and relaxed by the staff that looked after me. My hair was shaved in specific areas and the doctor calmed me and talked through what would happen. I cannot praise the surgical team, the ward nurses and all that were involved in my care. This is right from the pre-assessment, through to discharge. The team are incredible and the care that I was given was professional and personal and although this is a strange thing to say. I look forward to returning for my 3rd surgery in September.

  2. Review titled Kings no longer looking after me due to missed appointments

by 2Bee or not two Bee!!! - Posted on 24 August 2022

After attending Kings for several conditions for 20+ years of fantastic service I now find myself being discharged back to a country backwater with no essential skills at all. The reason given by latest consultant is that I live too far away to be offered appropriate care, which I've got up to now! Reason! I missed 3 appointments on same day due to the ambulance not being available - I believe this is due to CCG instruction to clear discharges! Nobody available at Kings, no answerphone facilities function. Kings used care about its patients who came from all over UK to its centre of excellence. This no longer appears to be the case and it seems like they couldn't care less.

I visited the allergy department at Kings. The clinic was held in the venetian building and the set up was really good. The staff were all lovely but particularly the receptionist who was working. She was helpful and made people laugh and she made us feel very welcome.
