  1. Review titled P A L S useless. Still awaiting results.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 March 2024

I had a dermatological procedure over a month ago now and emailed the P A L S team to ask for their help and assistance in finding out the results of the tissue sample from histopathology. They took a week to even respond to my emails and only then once I had warned them that I would visit them in person, which I had to do last time this happened. I still do not have the results of my tissue sample which is causing some distress, not helped by the incompetent and inefficient 'patient experience team' not doing their jobs properly. Once again, King's Mill Hospital demonstrates appalling service and dire communication for patients.

  2. Review titled So well looked after

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dianne Scattergood - Posted on 03 April 2024

Went to A and E with A Fib episode lastinv 3 days. Straight to resus after ecg. All quick and looked at straight away. Monitored overnight , 15 hours in all. My heart rate was lowered with medication and injection, from quite high to normal and I could go home. The care I received from all nurses and doctors was exemplary. They are all so caring too. I can't praise them enough. This was Easter weekend and they were all cheerful in their work. I cant say names on this apparently, but many many thanks to them all on Easter Sunday night shift for everything on what was a worrying time for me, I was soon put at ease . You are all wonderful. Bless you xx

  3. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stacey - Posted on 22 March 2024

I can't express this enough, the staff were amazing. I'm such an emotional, uncomfortable person and they helped every step of the way. Three female staff who handled my colonoscopy. I've never written a review before but this is something that needed to be mentioned. Im so grateful I had these women for my appointment. They were happy and chatty and could tell if I was feeling off and needed cheering up or distracting. Honestly can't describe how I feel, it turned out to be the complete opposite of what I thought. Thank you :')

  4. Review titled Minor Op perfect on the day but attrition needed to get it

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 14 February 2024

After months of battling with the hospital to all get an appointment date confirmed for my dermatological procedure and having no assistance at all from PALS, who I eventually had to pay a visit to in person as they were not responding to emails - I finally had my surgery today. On the day the consultant surgeon and associated support / nursing staff were first class and demonstrated kindness, compassion, various skill sets and provided for my communication needs and I have received nothing but the best care and treatment in dermatology today, which I am grateful for. I would not choose to have another appointment anywhere at King's Mill again purely because the communication and inadequate information provision is so appallingly bad, along with the car park. Trying to get access to the information I needed and assistance with what were often rudimentary questions was impossible at times and it was both infuriating and stressful. The care was fantastic once you get through all the barriers and unnecessary bureaucracy which is both killing the NHS and making many patients lose patience and tolerance with them too. I just can't cope with such dire administrative competency and therefore I will travel further afield to another hospital in future, which is a shame as poor communication is perhaps top of the list when it comes to patient dissatisfaction with the health service and yet it is the easiest to remedy.

Can't fault the experience that I had during my Biopsy. Not the most pleasant of procedures but excellent care from everyone involved.

  10. Review titled Great place but doctor was distracted

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 February 2024

Took my daughter here. She was triaged quickly in the children's section and we then waited 2 hours to be seen by a doctor, which isn't bad. I knew the problem beforehand but the doctor was more focused on asking me why my child doesn't have a sibling yet (I'm not planning on having any other children, not that it's any of the doctors business) and why only half of my daughters hair was braided. Maybe if she paid more attention to the illness I could have avoided a visit to the GP this week to get another antibiotic as my daughter was given a 5 day dose at kings mill, when she required a 10 day dose.
