  1. Review titled Very impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 October 2022

I visited the Endoscopy unit at Kingston Hospital for a gastroscopy and was very impressed. It is a light, bright, modern facility which engendered none of the depression that older locations can create. I was put in a room with its own toilet and a small wall safe for my valuables. Although I had been warned that I might be there for three hours I was out in an hour. There was very little delay and the staff kept me informed of waiting times. The gastroscopy was done most skilfully and there was no pain and little discomfort. I was pleased that I had not opted for sedation which would have caused great inconvenience for no benefit.  The doctor told me the result immediately. The doctors and nurses were courteous and efficient, taking great care to check my identity. The volunteer was also kind though unneeded in my case.

  2. Review titled Fantastic care and professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Our NHS is a true treasure - I was at the A&E yesterday for internal bleeding. During the nine hours of tests, consultations, scan and treatment all I saw was fantastic work by caring professionals dealing with many patients. Thank you so much!

  3. Review titled Nice hospital usually but terrible breast cancer care

Rated 3 stars out of 5

We’ve had some very good care in other departments at Kingston but the Breast Cancer care is substandard. My treatment was throughout 2022. I couldn’t get an appointment for several weeks despite being referred on the 2 week pathway. Then they made me wait weeks again because nobody was available to do my scans or biopsies. Then ages again to start treatment for Grade 3 (fast growing) breast cancer. No complaints about my surgeon or surgery that was all good care. Radiotherapy was at a different hospital, which was more than satisfactory too. MacMillan at Kingston are worse than non existent. There’s a corner with brochures but nobody ever there. Adverts flash up on the TV in the building claiming Kingston MacMillan offer support to cancer patients such as art therapy, financial advice etc but that’s not true. There was zero support available. No wigs or advice for hair loss either, basically nothing. My MacMillan Cancer Nurse Specialist knew so little about breast cancer it wasn’t worth having her as my nurse not that she bothered returning phone calls anyway. She also felt frustrated, often moaned about the NHS killing people and brought it out on patients. She left apparently so at least nobody has to have her as their CNS now. The other CNS nurses are a mixed bunch, so if you’re lucky you get a knowledgeable and caring one. If not you don’t. After treatment ends Kingston put patients into a category called Open Access. They seem useless and unhelpful. Overall they don’t seem to care about the cancer patients at Kingston Hospital and I’d recommend going to a different hospital if possible.

I have been seen by ENT team and undergone Thyroid surgery to remove a lump from one side. The team is so professional and understanding, they were very thorough with the examination and made sure I understood everything before surgery. Thank you ENT

I just wanted to say thank you - I came in for uterine embolisation and stayed for 2 nights. Every little thing was explained to me and everyone from the porter to the cleaner, nurses and consultants were so polite, caring and kind. Thank you all so much.

  6. Review titled Efficient, compassionate and professional

We came to Urgent Treatment Care via A&E on a Saturday afternoon. Both departments well run, with professional and compassionate staff. From nurses to Drs -even the security staff-we encountered highly professional care which meant a painful and worrying infection was treated with 2hrs from arrival. We cannot thank the staff at Kingston Hospital enough for this most excellent care.

  8. Review titled The staff were caring and supportive

    by Beangirl5 - Posted on 30 June 2023

There is so much in the press at the moment about how awful an out patient hysteroscopy is- and how it is so very painful, that you should have anaesthetic, I wanted to share my story. I was offered a choice of general anaesthetic or 2 paracetamol and the procedure being carried out in out patients. This is what I opted for, you may asked why? Well, it was a really simple choice, as I suffered a birth trauma in theatre and have PTSD as a result. I was obviously anxious about the procedure, but the staff were caring and supportive, I did not disclosed my past history as I feared that they would not continue, and theatre was not an option. There was a little bit of pain as the scope was inserted through the cervix, but this only lasted a few seconds. It was much an usual sensation of the fluid going in and out, but not discomfort. The whole thing was over in less than 10 minutes. Yes, I had some cramp type pain afterwards, but was able to go home and relax.

  10. Review titled Unnecessary anxiety caused

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am bitterly disappointed by the service of William rouse/ radiology department. Despite being told my results would be available in a week, I was then told I shouldn't have been told that and I didn't make the list for discussion at their timed MDT meeting. Was assured I'd be rung by next day with appointment to discuss results following Wednesday, just told now I have to wait for the whole of bank holiday weekend to hear about appointment, muttering about it being radiology fault now. I potentially could have cancer and apologising for the delay really, really doesn't cut it!!!!! Just bad service, excuses and preportioning blame!!!!!
