  1. Review titled Fast and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had a sprained ankle from skiing. Phoned 111 who booked me an appointment at the clinic. Turn up to A&E and receptionist says that they don’t have appointments! Anyhow- triage was efficient and I was sent hobbling to the Urgent Care department. Sat in a crowded waiting room for 25 mins but was then called to see a wonderful nurse. She was pleasant, chatty, helpful and reassuring. Was quickly sent to get an X-ray and was in and out within 10 mins. The nurse then met me on the way back in, showed me the X-ray straight away and explained I had a small fracture. She gave me options, lots of good quality advice and then sent me on my way with a prescription for anti inflammatories. Could not have asked for a better service. I was so surprised giving all the negativity surrounding the NHS. However the Hospital Boots Pharmacy…. 1.30 hours for 1/2 a prescription (they only gave me half the anti inflammatories I was prescribed due to”hospital policy”) was not as efficient! Overall, great job Kingston Hospital- much thanks. M

  2. Review titled Thanks to all for excellent service and treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was suffering a shivering fit. My wife phoned 111 for advice and the call was picked up by a pleasant person. After speaking to me she decided to request an ambulance which arrived within several minutes. The 3 paramedics provided checked me very thoroughly and decided to take me to hospital. On arrival at Kingston A&E I was again checked and further test, bloods and x-ray taken. Fluids and antibiotics were administered by drip. The pleasant nurse also provided myself and my wife with tea. The registrar discharged me later that evening. Everyone who dealt with me were very professional, comforting and caring. They ensured we knew exactly what was being done, both my wife and I would like to send a massive thank you to everyone involved from 111, the paramedics, and all the hospital staff.

  3. Review titled Fantastic treatment

Having suffered with knee pain for a long time and my local hospital doing next to nothing about it I was referred to Kingston. All I can say is what a contrast. From my initial consultation with a rheumatologist who then referred me to Orthopedics, the service has been exemplary. All staff have been friendly and informative and timing has been beyond any expectation, especially given the continuing impact of covid on nhs services. I am so grateful to have been able to acess the quality care at this hospital. Having been recently advised I would need a cortisone injection which on an urgent referral was about 3 months I was so surprised to have received the injection in under 2 weeks. The difference this has made already is amazing.

Shoulder injury. Everyone from reception to radiography(?) was friendly, informative, relaxed and helpful. I was in and out in under 2hrs. The painkillers and exercises ensure I'll be back to work soon. A faultless service. Many thanks.

  5. Review titled Great service and ongoing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to bring my 14month daughter in and was quickly seen and triaged in A&E sent initally to urgent care then to Pediatrics. The nurse bought inital medication to help whilst waiting and then a doctor reviewed during treatment. This was refered to a Pediatric Dr who then admitted us to a ward. The treatment and care on the ward was brilliant, all staff great and no complaints. They all seemed calm and looked after us. The Dr then came to discharge very early the next day (which was really well received as wanted to get home) at this point I heard there were a further 7 kids waiting for beds. We would not have known the stress they were under elsewhere so thank you for still providing a great service despite the fact your overwhelmed. This goes to all Nurses and Doctors in A&E, Paediatric Dr's and Sunshine Ward Dr's and Nurses.

In mid-December 2022 my son had a partial thyroidectomy to remove a tumour. From pre-surgery consultations and checks through to post-surgery treatment on ward and the post surgery appointment the staff have shown dedication and professionalism. They helped him through a stressful and painful experience. I am very grateful to Kingston Hospital and the National Health Service!

  7. Review titled Very Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Janet M - Posted on 29 December 2022

Last year a relative received superb care here. Today the service was terrible. I spent 9 hours in pain in the waiting areas before I got treatment. It took more than 1 hour to see a triage nurse. Then nearly 4 hrs waiting to see a doctor and be x-rayed. Another 1 hour waiting to see the doctor again to review the x-ray and be sent for a CT scan. 2 hrs more waiting to review the scan. Then finally treatment of my fracture. We went home at 4am. I was lucky. Some people around me had waited 8hours and hadn't seen any doctor at all. I stress this is not the fault of the staff who were great. There just weren't enough of them. It must be soul-destroying to see people suffering and not be able to offer care that you are trained to deliver. Also the Urgent Treatment Centre shut at 8pm. Why? Many of the people in the waiting room could have been treated there. Another thing. In the UTC not far away there were large waiting areas with no one in them. Surely when the main waiting area is crammed with people coughing, in pain, vomiting and obviously feverish, other areas could be opened up for everyone's comfort and to protect patients from getting other illnesses from eachother? The pregnant women in great discomfort on the hard chairs under bright lights would surely have appreciated that. Compared to last year this was unbelievable.

  9. Review titled Poor experience in ENT

Firstly you are operating a very chaotic and unsatisfactory booking in system . I used the screens and was just instructed to take a seat in the appropriate waiting room . I was then castigated by a nurse as had not booked in with them . I was not instructed to do this . Non of the patient calling screens were working The consultant I saw was surly and a very poor and ineffective communicator . I have come away feeling very unsatisfied and ill informed by my consultation with this dismissive clinician I have to stress that I am an advocate of Kingston hospital and this experience has been very dissapointing indeed . I do not wish my follow up appointment to be with this same clinician

  10. Review titled Fantastic care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was recently an in-patient for an amputation of my right leg. Firstly when I woke up in recovery the care in that room was amazing! This was my 39th operation so I've been through a lot of recovery rooms in my time and never have I seen or received such attentive care and kindness. Usually the scarce staff are away chatting with each other in a corner while patients are left alone. Not here! A staff member was with each patient At all times, so conscientious and caring. I had a slight problem with my lungs and they had a doctor to me immediately and I do mean immediately! This level of care carried on throughout my stay and my registrar was absolutely amazing. One member of staff took my dressing off too early and he went mad and insisted on a full incident report! He was all about my care and did his utmost best for me. He even insisted I go back to him to have my stitches out rather than my GP nurse as per norm. I really can't recommend this hospital enough. No wait in pharmacy, no wait in xray, everywhere is on time, friendly and efficient. Nothing short of amazing.
