Review titled Pointless operation
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 September 2024
Was told I would have a biopsy under general anaesthetic after bladder cancer returned. Advised I would receive mitomycin bladder wash. Due to the location of the tumour I was advised I would then go back to the urologist for removal via flexible cystoscopy. In the operating theatre they took no biopsy and just burnt it off! That was not the plan. The whole reason for this operation was to grade it. Have no idea what it was now. Then they refused the mitomycin I had been promised. This was a recurrence and they just said to come back in 3 months. That's it. Previous course of chemo obvs didn't work last time so now there's a reoccurrence they seem to not be bothering with anything and can't even be bothered to grade it. So I just had a pointless general anaesthetic.

Just want to say a big thank you to all the team, on this unit, you were all amazing, and went above and beyond your job, to make my procedure more comfortable. I was so nervous about having my endoscopy, after, a terrible experience in another hospital. And I also have a needle phobia, and various health conditions and disabilities. I was able to talk through my fears with the staff, who reassured me every step of the way, they also had time to distract me, while the other nurse but in my canulla for sedation. Even through the actual procedure, I felt reassured. Credit where credits due, you were all amazing , I felt you went above and beyond what was required. Thank you again.

Review titled Ward 28 staff review
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mradhula Jones - Posted on 15 August 2024
Ward 28 Leicester General Hospital I was told to be quiet because I was upsetting others when I was in so much pain and panicking. Later on they were laughing at me because my catheter was hanging on my leg and did not help with it. The whole experience is a nightmare I will never be able to forget.

Review titled Poor Communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have recently spent at more than 3 hours trying to contact the sleep clinic as I need replacement supplies for my CPAP machine. Calls were made within the times stipulated on the recorded message. Each time I have been placed in the queue, but been cut off on every single occasion. I have been a patient of the sleep clinic since 2006 and this is not the first complaint I have made about the same problem.

Review titled Really let down.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by David Hackett - Posted on 16 July 2024
Today the 16th of July 2024, I had an appointment at the General Hospital for biopsies to be taken from my prostrate. Appointment time was 7.15 am . So up at 5.30 to get their on time I was seen by the nurses ho were great so thank you nurses. Having bin told nothing to eat or drink from 5 pm the night before. Not a problem because I was having a General anaesthetic and under stood that. But to sit in a chair from 7.30 until after 1 o’clock to be told sorry we will have to let you go and will be put on another list with no real explanation The Day cost us £52 in taxi fares, My wife who has Parkinson’s came with me but was told she couldn’t stay and had to go home. Had we had a letter about the days visit rather than just a text we may have known that. I’ve not told my family so they don’t worry about me until I know that is it if anything. There must have been about 20 people turn up for similar to me and people coming in the afternoon. It’s no wonder I was kept waiting and sent home.

Review titled Caring, Considerate and professional Staff xx
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jodi - Posted on 17 May 2024
I visited the Leicester General Hospital with my daughter as she had an ultrasound scan. My daughter is 15, her scan was done in the Radiology Department and we were looked after by 2 truly lovely ladies - The sonographer/radiographer and the lady who assisted. Both ladies made us feel completely at ease, explained everything really clearly, kept checking my daughter was OK during the process and were kind, caring, reassuring, professional, calm, positive and polite throughout the whole process. These ladies are a real credit to the NHS and deserve a huge pat on the back, cup of tea and a cake! The lady on the Radiography Reception was also very nice and I was extremely impressed with how quickly our appointment came through after my daughter had been referred for her scan by our GP. The information we received with the letter we were sent was perfect too - very clear and informative - and I had to change our appointment date which again was done quickly, promptly and easily and the person I spoke to on the phone (it was a man, but I don't remember his name unfortunately) was really helpful and polite too. So all in all, I am thrilled with the service we received as a whole and would like to pass on my heartfelt thanks as it really does make a massive difference to people like us when things run smoothly, are easy to change and understand and when care, consideration and kindness are shown to us by staff at all levels.
