Review titled An unpleasant procedure made bearable
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by MRS L PILE - Posted on 20 April 2023
I had an endoscopy this morning in the Vanguard van at the General. I was seen on time and all 4 nurses who dealt with the initial assessment were very kind and explained everything clearly and patiently. I knew it wasn't a nice thing to have done but the doctor doing the procedure was very kind and I had every confidence they knew what they were doing. As the camera went in the nurse kept repeating gently " keep breathing" and " you're doing well". It doesn't last that long and although it's not a fun experience there aren't any lasting effects and I could drive home immediately. All the staff were great and we're very lucky to have these professionals

Review titled Great practice experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had the pleasure of working in Ward 28 Urology as a student nurse and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. The staff were absolutely amazing and incredibly supportive throughout my time there. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and included, answering any questions I had and offering guidance whenever I needed it. I was impressed by how well-run and organized the ward was, and how dedicated the staff were to providing the best possible care for their patients. The facilities were top-notch and the equipment was well kept, which really helped to enhance the quality of care provided. Overall, I cannot recommend Ward 28 Urology enough. The staff are fantastic, the facilities are excellent, and the level of care provided is truly outstanding. If you're looking for a ward that is professional, compassionate, and committed to patient care, then look no further than Ward 28 Urology

Review titled Ward 14.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jennifer Beck - Posted on 03 April 2023
I had an op on my left knee to fix my tibula plateau repear and a bone graph. I was looked after from the first moment I arrived for surgery day on Thursday 28th March 2023. The surgeons came and explained everything that was going to happen. In the room before my op they explained everything they were doing right down to all the injection they were giving me and the nurse that was with me was amazing and calming. Operation went well and I woke up in recovery and I was soon back up on the ward. The ward nurses were amazing and was so patient with me. They done my obs every hour due to low blood pressure. The following day after surgery I saw the physico and put me a brace on that I will be wearing for the next 6 weeks and they got me of the bed and walked me around the room. But they did not push me too much. They came back the following day and got me walking to the toilet. Which I managed. Discharge day arrived and I was told that I could bring a wheel chair in so I was not using crutches through the hospital. They provided me with all my meds and I went home. The overall experience was excellent despite being really scared of the operation.

Review titled Still no results
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 May 2023
I had a scan 2 months ago and was told my results would be with my GP within a week.. I still haven't received any results. My GP tells me to contact gynaecology, and the number for gynaecology is never answered, I've tried ringing multiple times! Will be attempting to go to the hospital in person today to try and track down the results. Really disappointing service.

Review titled Impossible to get in contact
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 April 2023
I had a scan around a month ago and was told the results would go back to my GP within a week. Here we are and still no results showing on my medical record or even evidence of the appointment. My GP says to contact gynaecology to get the results sent through and when I call the only number I can find for the department, it rings out or the phone is picked up and then put down again. How am I supposed to get my results?

I attended the radiology department for a proctogram. What could have been an embarrassing, stressful experience wasn’t at all - the staff were so professional, kind and supportive. I am so very grateful - our wonderful NHS. Thank you.

Review titled Diabolical Service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023
I am a patient having endured chronic pain whilst awaiting further consultation at this department for the last three months. Despite exhausting all communication channels via GP practice, 111, local health hubs, the nurse helpline provided in the consultant’s letter is non existent and frankly pointless. I have called multiple times during the timeframe advised in the pre-recorded answer message on various days across several weeks and not once has the call been answered. Receptionists are rude refusing to share their names let alone escalate my complaints of agony and pain in seeking urgent medical care and pain management support. Unacceptable.

Review titled Cancelled Appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Claire Driver - Posted on 11 June 2023
Arrived at Rheumatology only to be told the appointment had been cancelled due to the doctor being on Holiday!! and that we should have been informed, we weren’t. It took an hour to get to the hospital, patient has advanced heart failure, has a catheter and is in a wheelchair. We then received a letter stated that ‘due to us not attending the appointment, patient is now discharged’. This is incompetence at the highest level - and they want a pay rise?? Some certainly do not deserve it!
