Review titled Thank you
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sue Grant - Posted on 17 February 2024
On January 10th I was admitted to LRI for plastic surgery following a biopsy that proved positive for melanoma. As I had only recently started having panic attacks and very high BP, I was extremely nervous. From the minute of my arrival to the point of discharge I was treated with utmost care and professional attention. The receptionist for theatre admissions had about thirty patients waiting and each of us was treated calmly and efficiently, as if we were the only person that mattered at that moment. From then on the nurses admitting me, the surgeon, the anaethetist and his assistant could not have been more caring and kind. The nurses on the recovery and discharge wards continued this exceptional role of care and attention. I short, I was tremendously greatful for the care I received that day, which was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, but made so much easier by the professional care of every member of the team. I could not fault anyone at any point. This week I was given the good news that I am now cancer free and need no further treatment and I was able to thank my consultant in person, but I would like this extended to the whole team. I do thank you all. Sue Grant.

I was admitted onto general practitioner assessment unit following a gp referral to accident and emergency on weds 24 Jan. The dept was extremely busy and hospital was on red alert. Despite this, all the staff I encountered were kind, professional polite and knowledgable. I wish I could have laid down when waiting but it was just too busy for this. After having IV fluids I was admitted onto gpau and again every single member of staff over the 48 hrs I was there provided excellent care. All the staff were respectful and I was treated with such care and dignity. The staff work extremely hard and I have nothing but prise for everyone of them. Thank you all so much-you are very appreciated.

Review titled Waste of time

I visited the ENT department this month after another 6 month wait. The clinician was completely dismissive of my ongoing ear problems and refused my request for an investigation as to why I was having so many issues with my ears. This is the second time I've visited this ENT department and it will also be the last. I think it's safe to say that I will have to live with my condition until I can afford to go private. A complete waste of time.

My 3 year old daughter was bought in on Monday via ambulance, from the moment we arrived the staff were incredible! We ended up staying in on ward 10 in the Balmoral Building for 4 days. The staff were so caring and thorough, nothing was too much of an ask, they were all incredible with my daughter. They helped make an awful and hard experience much easier and I’m so thankful for that! Thank you so much!

Review titled Maternity staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Furious mother - Posted on 04 November 2023
Very unprofessional and should be given a disciplinary. Leaving pregnant mothers to sit and wait whilst chatting in their little office. Not checking up on mothers to be. As a pregnant mother especially first time moms they should at least have the decency and professionalism to realise that mothers need to be reassured. Maybe they should all have training days with the midwives at the General as they are lovely and caring and reassuring . Having been there twice I have see first hand how much better trained at dealing with expectant mothers the midwives are.

Review titled Excellent Care 100%
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by SARAH kENDALL - Posted on 28 November 2023
Absolutely can not fault the care that I was given from start to finish This was due to the prompt undertaking of 2 Rheumatology Specialist Nurses over a space of 2 days who listened to me and promptly solved an issue so painful but because of them I will be ever grateful to them for their quick thinking and action it shows that the care sharing on their side works and the consultant was so professional and approachable as was all the staff in clinic on my visit today Thank you

Review titled 4 hours waiting in kids A&E and still not seen a doctor
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023
Four hours waiting in kids A&E on a Wednesday evening and we are yet to see a doctor. Another child was sick on the floor and it took nearly an hour to be cleaned up. The staff are great but the volume of staff is simply not enough to cover 10% of the patients. As a tax payer, it would be more beneficial not paying national insurance and paying for private medical insurance because this is a failed service unfortunately

Review titled Can I casualty go and teach A@e Adult casualty how to do it?
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2023
This review is a follow-up of the review I gave for Adult A&E casualty this review is for eye casualty department of the Leicester Royal infirmary only read my other review of the appalling way. I was treated in Adult accident and emergency A&E so I returned to eye casualty today. What a difference fantastic service from the moment I walked in to the moment, I left the receptionist a gentleman was friendly, reassuring and very kind and very welcoming and put me at ease straightaway from what was a very stressful time, I was then taken into a small room within 15 minutes and eye test and eye pressure was Also taken I was then asked to wait on the seats for another half an hour before I was seen by an eye specialist nurse who asked me questions about my medical health. I was then asked to take a seat again and I saw the consultant within an hour was okay luckily for me and I was able to go home bravo Leicester Royal infirmary eye casualty!!!! Dept . Perhaps you could nip down to Leicester , Royal infirmary Adult A&E and show them how it’s done because they haven’t got a clue if you go to Kettering you go through different process and it’s very quick. I realise the Leicester City is a very large city and you are dealing with a lot of people at A&E emergency department. However no excuse for dismissiveness rudeness or unconcerned attitude you apparently chose a career to help people??? Then show some compassion, kindness and think about why it was. You became a nurse or a doctor, or a receptionist at the hospital in the first place. It’s not about money you get paid a lot and you use it as an excuse not fair and if somebody’s on their own, show them a little bit more compassion, it’s frightening to go to you nobody wants to !! Here to help, no wonder people don’t go n dread it ! here to Help it doesn’t seem like that to me ! people do not go to hospital for any other reason other than fear illness and injury. It is your job to make us feel better that’s what you are paid to do. It’s a pity you don’t wear the fantastic nurses and doctors uniforms of the past with capes and bonnets that gave you a pride in your job When I was a little girl, my mum would point to the nurses and say don’t they look amazing in their uniforms all lost and now we’ve got nurses and doctors talking to people like that you’re scum that is now lacking. If you are brought in an ambulance to A&E casualty, the situation is completely different and you’re immediately met by lovely staff, helpful kind and respectful show some respect in the A&E walk-in department when you casually telling people it’s a 9 1/2 hour. Wait in the hope that they will turn round and go as I did and you say okay then goodbye you’re a disgrace so that’s why I’ve said congratulations to A&E eye casualty you are fantastic thank you xxx for your love and care of patience you’re fantastic
