Review titled Great service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steve Smith - Posted on 29 November 2024
Attended Urology on an incredibly quick appointment. 5 days from GP visit. You can not fault that. Arrived nearly an hour early as I didn't want to miss the appointment. After checking in I asked where the cafe was and a member of staff took the time to walk me there as its a complex site. But everybody was so friendly. Reminds me of seventeen years ago when my wife went into labour while I was working away. I had a long drive to get to the maternity ward. The first thing a nursing assistant did was made me a cup of tea. Thats no part of her job description, but was much appreciated. I can not fault Leighton.

Review titled Really supportive midwives!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mia Rogerson - Posted on 06 November 2024
My experience in the MLU was absolutely amazing. They made my whole labour and time there really comforting. I felt at ease, especially with this being my first baby. They were always there when I needed them and reassured me when needed. I can’t express enough, how thankful I am for the midwives that I had. Even to the point where the first midwife I had, had finished her night shift, but the next day she came back and come back to me and asked how my whole labour went. Everyone is so caring here, and I can’t fault anyone who was involved.

Dear Mia, I have shared this wonderful feedback with the whole MLU team to celebrate their success. The team work so hard to provide the best care to families - and it is lovely that this is being felt by those receiving care. Thank you for taking the time to submit such a positive comment, it is appreciated by everyone. Kind regards, Catherine Thorley Oak/MLU Manager

Review titled A&E minors is awful
Rated 1 star out of 5

Left without painkillers and nurses very rude if asked for updates on what’s going on when being left for 7 hours without anybody telling us anything, a lot of people very unwell in waiting room however staff couldn’t have cared less, signs everywhere about being kind to staff but that clearly doesn’t apply to the nurses who can speak to people very rudely, it should work both ways

Dear patient, Apologies for the inconvenience caused during the visit to ED. I appreciate the concern raised and we have discussed the issues in the ED huddle so this behaviour does not repeat in future. Discussed in ED huddles to assess the pain , provide pain relief if appropriate at triage and to re-assess . Staff also reminded to inform patients of the wait time as well as to inform what the patients are waiting for. Staff also reminded to be polite and professional at work. Sorry for the inconvenience caused during the visit to ED. Kind regards, Victoria Noronha Assistant Nurse Manager Emergency Department

Review titled ENT Appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2024
The woman who answered my call when making an enquiry about an appointment date was quite rude, abrupt and overly defensive when I politely questioned a 2 month wait for an urgent referral. She compaired Leightons wait times to "other" hospitals, which is completely irrelevant to me. Where has the compassion and empathy gone from the medical profession??

Review titled Great experience for an operation
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by A.Brown - Posted on 12 September 2024
On Monday 9th September 2024, I received a total knee replacement on my right leg. I had the same operation at a private hospital in June 2023 for my left leg. From my arrival at the Treatment Centre at 7.00am, I was quickly greeted and registered at Reception and I then progressed through the induction programme with interviews from various nurses, health personnel, anaesthetist, surgeon and surgical staff - all of which were highly professional and courteous. I was the first operation of the day at 9am. I was taken though to the operating theatre for my cannula and anaesthetic application which was an epidural. The epidural was administered sympathetically by the anaesthetists without any discomfort or pain which was a stark contrast to the epidural I received at the private hospital which caused much pain and completed in approximately 3 minutes compared to 10+ minutes this week and delivered with much care. The 2 hour operation was completed and I was taken to a post operative recovery area where I was looked after for 30 minutes by attentive Health personnel and then taken to Ward 9. In Ward 9, I was received by very welcoming staff who looked after me fantastically day and night. I was in for 2 nights and stayed in a 6 bed bay. I experienced 4 different shifts of Nurses and Health personnel and everyone was kind and caring. The mood on the Ward was upbeat led by the staff and the patients bought into this mood which made the stay very enjoyable. The stay involved visits from Occupational Health, physio therapy and my surgeon all of which were excellent. The whole Ward operated like a well oiled machine even with the normal patient medical issues happening on a continuous basis - nothing was too much trouble for the staff day or night and you felt as though your care was there main priority at all times. Other ancillary staff such as porters and domestic staff were also hard working, kind and caring. The food was fine and perfectly adequate for aiding recovery. What a fantastic hospital! Crewe and Nantwich - We are lucky to have you and Ward 9 were magnificent. I knew I needed both knees doing, one being worse than the other. I could not afford to waste a couple of years at my age of 63 but I was fortunate enough to be able to get the second knee done 14 months after the first one. My treatment at the Private hospital did not compare to the excellent care by all the highly professional and vocational staff at Leighton. I had a private room in the private hospital but the experience on Ward 9 with the other male patients was far superior. The buzz from the staff on Ward 9 aided the healing experience massively and it was much better than being isolated in a room on your own. A mention for the Pre Op team as well who were also fantastic in the whole process. Well done Leighton Hospital and thank you!

Review titled Great staff and care on ward 12
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Emma - Posted on 06 September 2024
I was sent to a&e by my GP and after a 10 hour wait in triage I was sent to ward 12. I couldn't review both triage and the ward, but in regards to triage it would be nice if food (sandwiches) were offered to those of us who had been sat waiting for a while. Staff were lovely and very busy and over worked. I was sent up to ward 12, the staff were great and really looked after me. The doctor from urology was lovely, very patient with me, as I was constantly asking if I could go home. The Dr explained what they were doing and what results they were waiting on and was friendly. The nursing assistant/carer on the women's ward in ward 12 was lovely, nothing was a problem for her, she never stopped and was always there to help us. I saw her the most on the ward as she was always checking on us and was very friendly and caring and was over worked. I believe that I received quality care and the staff at the hospital did everything they could for me. I can see how the NHS is underfunded as in my opinion staff are over worked. I hope that more funding is given to the NHS to employ more front line staff. I will add regardless of being under funded, the treatment and care received from Leighton is excellent and the staff are friendly, caring and committed to their vocations. I'm happy this is my local hospital.

I went today for a cataract post op examination. The staff are so kind and go the extra mile for you. I didn't wait for too long. The exam took 2 minutes. Parking was a pain because I am disabled but we got there early with parking being such a pain. All in all It's a great department. Thank you so much x

Review titled Amazing Staff and very efficient procedure.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Darrell Oakden - Posted on 20 August 2024
I have visited Leighton Hospital today for removal of my Gall Bladder. I was blown away with the friendliness and professionalism of every member of staff that cared for me. I first checked into reception at 7.00am and quickly had my pre- op checks met the surgeon and anaesthetist and went for surgery at 8.00am. I was back on the ward by 12.00 and was discharged at 2.00pm. I have very little pain, no effects from the anaesthetic and feel I am going to make a speedy recovery. Thanks again to every member of the Treatment Centre Team - hope you enjoyed the chocolates.
