  1. Review titled Great Nursing Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jenny Collie - Posted on 01 November 2024

My mother had a PET scan on a mobile unit at 5pm. She is in her eighties and was a bit apprehensive about the procedure. The staff were all kindness and warmth. We are so grateful, they were wonderful.

  2. Review titled Awful experience on SAL ward

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 November 2024

After my tonsillectomy the surgeon had arranged for me to stay overnight on SAL for observation. When arrived on the ward I sensed a very unfriendly and unwelcoming atmosphere, there was no compassion form the staff and felt like an inconvenience. I spent most of the night off the ward as I felt extremely uncomfortable and not cared for in the slightest so I spent time in the cafe area. In the morning I overheard the nurse discussing me in handover and implying my medical history was false and then went on to say that my mental health disorder would explain the “exaggeration”. Referring to the immense pain I was in from my surgery. As NHS staff myself it was heartbreaking to think that patients are being treated like this and I’m ashamed to work for the same service as the staff on this ward. Do better

  3. Review titled Lack of communication

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 October 2024

This is a review regarding communication between medical staff to patient and patients relatives. I have no concern’s regarding the medical care that my relatives has received whilst in Lincoln County Hospital. My relative was moved from one ward to another without any family being informed, only found out when another relative went to visit. When asked why we were not informed that said because they have no contact numbers, absolute rubbish I am down as NOK in the system and have been for years, so no excuse. It seems that it is up to the relative to hunt out the staff member looking after your relative to find out how things are progressing. I did ring the ward one morning, they staff member started to tell me about the condition of another patient.!!! The communication needs to be improved greatly. My relative is due to be moved out to another hospital, again the staff came and said you will be going to ….. just arranging transport for you. Came back 15mins later. Oh sorry it was not you that is going it’s another patient!! Is it so difficult to convey the correct information to the correct patient. The other thing I noticed is that the staff who’s native language is not English should not stand at the end of a bed discussing the patient in their native language. Surely whilst on duty only English should be spoken

  4. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

The Lincoln A&E department is horrible it’s like a war zone like something you would see on the tv, people lined up in chairs with drips in, people falling out of chairs on to the floor, at one time I had people Sitting either side of me being violently sick, I have never experienced anything like it, somebody needs to attend undercover just to see and document what goes on, it’s frightening, another time I was there for 36 hours with my elderly mother some teams need to learn a bit of compassion and empathy. Terrible experience but I have to say a thankyou to the volunteer who comes round with sandwiches and hot drinks which is welcomed.

  5. Review titled Exceptional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kenneth Mallison - Posted on 21 October 2024

My daughter, visiting, forgot part of her feeding system. (she can only feed through her stomach). we tried several departments and finally Clinic 1. A nurse there ( who was off duty!) went out of her way to help us, spending over 30 minutes phoning Leicester hospital, and was able to get a solution. Unfortunately, I did not get her full name, but I she was off duty at the time. I really want to commend her for her caring attention as my daughter is unable to speak after an operation for mouth cancer. It was Thursday morning (17th). I hope you are able to find her and give her our thanks.

  6. Review titled Lake of communication

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Relative - Posted on 07 October 2024

This review is not about the care my relative has received as I cannot fault it. This review is regarding the complete lack of communication. I am down on my relatives records of next of kin. My name, address and phone number on the system. My relative was moved from one ward to another, no one had the curtesy to call and let me know. We only found out when another relative went to visit and went to the original ward. When questioned stated they had no contact details…untrue. We do not get any staff coming to give us updates on progress of care etc. We have to go to the nurses station and try and find a member of staff that is looking after our relative. I did phone one morning gave relatives details, and the person on the phone started to discuss another patient!! Communication must be improved massively. One other point. Two nurses stood at the end of the patients bed discussing the patients in their native language. Surely when on shift they should be speaking English.

  7. Review titled Saved my mothers life

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 October 2024

From the moment the emergency responders and the paramedics attended to my mother at home who was having a heart attack, to all of the staff on the coronary care unit they were absolutely fantastic! My mother was taken straight in to the CAT lab on Friday evening within 20mins of the ambulance taking her there , where she underwent an angioplasty procedure to stop the blockage to her heart. She was extremely unwell when she arrived but all of the staff were attentive and caring not just for her but for me and my sister which was a frightening few hours wait. Coffee tea biscuits were offered to us and the nurses came in and explained what was happening, which was reassuring. Mum then came onto the unit to recover. I had been losing all faith in the nhs from other recent personal experiences but this weekend I saw a fantastic side to it Thank-you for saving my mothers life Lincoln x x

  8. Review titled Great team in theatre

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 October 2024

I waited 10 years because I was scared to have general anaesthetic. this team in my emergency theatre room were amazing.i ended up having a spinal block and my god that team was just the best ever. Made me feel safe secure and most of all well informed at all times. I'd even go as far as saying I enjoyed my procedure. Due to this team. Well done everyone I bet not many people recognised the work they do as they are asleep at the time but as a hospital u should be so proud of this team.

  9. Review titled Excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Amy J - Posted on 27 October 2024

Attended with a piercing that had gone wrong with my daughter. The earring was lodged into the ear as the incorrect earring was used to do the piercing. All staff who we met we so lovely and professional. The nurse who treated my daughter was an absolute angel, knew what to do and was excellent in her care.

  10. Review titled Long wait in Accident &Emergency

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 October 2024

My wife fell to the floor clutching her chest in great pain saying that she could not feel her hands and lips on Tuesday night. I immediately thought she was having a heart attack so rang 999 to be told that there was a 4 hour wait for an Ambulance so could I take her myself, which I did. We got there around 20:00hrs I dropped her and her son off and went to park the car, when I returned to the Accident & Emergency she was on the floor once again clutching her chest and writhing in pain. She was put in a wheelchair and taken through for an Electrocardiogram, which happened reasonably quickly. We then waited and waited, she was triaged after a couple of hours and in the end we were seen and left (it wasn't a heart attack) around 05:00hrs on the Wednesday. While we were there there were several emergencies with alarms going off, whenever that happened there was little rushing. One women had 3 or 4 fits while we were there, there were many people there in discomfort for considerable time. I could not believe the amount of time that everyone had to wait on a Tuesday evening, generally not a busy time. My view of the National Health Service is that it is a good thing that looks after people but having to wait that long is not right and any one of the many National Health Service managers need to look at it all, there were a lot of scared people in pain. In my business we would not be able to get away with such poor service, the people at the sharp end the Nurses and Doctors etc should be commended for their work but you could see that they were battling against the tide. Managers should be sent to sit there like a customer to see what it is like.
