Review titled Professional, friendly and exceptionally caring
by Honeycomb - Posted on 10 November 2023
From administration to discharge every thing went like clockwork. All of the staff, from reception to Oncology to Men’s Surgical Ward, were professional, friendly and exceptionally caring. A safe and caring experience from very knowledgeable and switched on teams. Thanks to all.

Review titled Felt ignored after my surgery
by Molkim - Posted on 17 October 2023
Came in after a 4 year wait, for a gall bladder removal surgery. The before and during care were great, however the aftercare was terrible. The nurse care was non-existent and communication in English was difficult. I was left without any offer of food for hours, and basically ignored. I was supposed to have a blood thinner injection at 5pm which wasn’t given and only picked up when a doctor noticed it had not been given later on. Out of the two nurses on duty, not one of them spoke to me, other than to ask my name and DOB, and that’s when I had to ask them for pain relief. Not the standard of care I expect from my NHS. Feel free to contact me if you want further info as like I stated earlier, the before and during care were great! It was the aftercare that was dismal. I just felt left whilst they appeared to order to tend to others on the ward or chat away to their colleagues.

Review titled Mixed experience after emergency surgery
by Painedpatient - Posted on 13 October 2023
I arrived Monday via ambulance and had been pre-admitted from Grantham waited two hours to be examined, when examined the consultant was abrasive, kept telling me to relax whilst I was experiencing severe pain and and cramps. Was told I needed a scan and would get one in the morning. Tuesday, was told wouldn't get scan until late that evening, they did manage to find an earlier slot and had one at lunch and the report would be ready in minutes. Report was not done and had to be chased up by consultant as nurses had tried. Wednesday lunch report from scan was finally done and I was told I needed emergency surgery due to internal bleeding, the consultant on that day was lovely and caring along with the anaesthetist. Had surgery at 5:45pm . Did not have vitals or observations done throughout the night this can be confirmed by my partner who spent the night with me. Pain relief had to be requested and was not offered. I did request every few hours. Thursday asked nursing staff and consultant if partner could stay another night and was told he could, he had been taking me to the bathroom and helping as I was very wobbly. 10:30pm a nurse came in and kicked him out despite me telling her that he had been allowed to stay by other staff but still ordered him to leave. Her reasoning being it that it was a female only ward and mainly female staff and they didn't feel safe both me and him were offended by. That evening at 11pm my bed was changed for the first time since arriving, it had blood stains on from blood being drawn on Tuesday. Friday was discharged was not told anything about what to expect post op, and was told that the hospital would be in touch to book a scan 1 week post op to make sure everything was ok, it is now over a week and I have called to follow up and I get told to ring other departments and half the time phone just keeps ringing. Other notes but can't remember days: asked for pain meds as I was due, took two hours and multiple calls on the buzzer. It took them 20mins to come to a nurse call on buzzer. Would ask for water and they'd forget so would have to ring again after waiting an hour. When I asked for water member or staff rolled her eyes and sighed. There were some lovely members of staff that were helpful, kind and compassionate, unfortunately this wasn't the majority.

Review titled Quality of care and communication was not followed up in the ward
by Free spirit - Posted on 09 November 2023
Very dubious about having my surgery at Lincoln, due to lack of care of both my elderly parents in previous years. I arrived feeling optimistic though. The theatre & anesthesia team were 2nd to none and they went above & beyond to give me excellent care. In surgery I was told every step of what was going to happen & had the most amazing team of doctors and nurses in theatre & the recovery room. I cannot thank them enough & a special mention to my recovery nurse, who was so understanding & caring. I'm afraid to say the level of care was not as good when I went to a ward. After an overnight stay, I was taken out my bed to sit in the corridor for over 5 hours, even when my bed wasn't even filled for hours after being out in corridor. This is not ideal after having an operation on the foot, which should have been kept elevated. Poor care & attention regarding this, I feel. I then heard 2 bed managers praising the nurse for freeing up so many beds, saying the nurse had done them a favour and gave them a sweet for it! All well and good for emptying beds, but not at the expense and comfort of a patient really, is it? My overall experience in theatre was 2nd to none, but it's a shame this quality of care and communication was not followed up in the ward.

Review titled It made me feel like I belonged somewhere
by frostds36 - Posted on 02 November 2023
The ability to cope under pressure and be able to co-or things. Especially on my two visits to A&E. It made me feel like I belonged somewhere and that I had somewhere to go. A big thank you to all at the Oncology Dept.

Review titled Sensitive care
by Dog77 - Posted on 22 October 2023
I arrived at the unit with a sensitive problem and was helped immediately. Staff made me feel relaxed and comfortable about my problem even though it caused them more work. I was treated with dignity and empathy which helped me relax. The staff throughout my visit were smiling and caring yet professional at their work.

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 October 2023
My dad was given an outpatients appoimtment which he was unable to make. Been trying for the past two days to reschedule the appointment. One one occasion rang solidly for just under an hour, the phone rings then cuts off!. How are we supposed to re-arrange appointmemts when no one answers the phone???

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf ULHT for your poor experience when trying to contact us. As the Trust have so many telephone lines I am unfortunately unable to comment further without details of the telephone number you called. Could you kindly provide this? I will then investigate and provide a more comprehensive response. Review titled I was most impressed
by elephantnb68 - Posted on 02 November 2023
I went for a visit to the physiotherapist for specialist support. I had waited 8 months for the appointment but as someone who works in the NHS I understood why - the Specialist is the only one specialising in that area of physiotherapy. Difficult to cope with demand in a timely fashion when you are on your own. The specialist was amazing, very supportive, listened and gave advice. I was most impressed and I did not have to wait to long in the dept to be seen.

Review titled A stressful, painful experience
by venuswz94 - Posted on 27 October 2023
Very stressful, painful at Lincoln Hospital gynecologic DEP. I think instead of keep sending ladies for this vile procedure they should find out the cause of thickened endometrium.I appreciate that they are ruling out cancer as one option, but this is rare and they are not investigating root cause afterwards, in my view. Just leave it until another symptoms appears or you're sent again .No menopause clinic appointment, no follow ups if your on HRT. Not offered pain relief, had 2 with them over the past years, asked to go back again next week on a fast track for a 3rd. Refused, had difficult phone calls and stood my ground firmly but politely not having it.In discussion, asked why is local anaesthetic not offered? Response , they have never done that and they are not starting now! So I replied, so you rather women be in pain and traumatized? Reply, most women tolerate it with no issues My response, do you have the data that proves that? Do you ask? Is it because you have financial incentives to keep mostly in outpatient, minimum time? Cost of anesthetic and qualified staff. No aftercare, just walk out, if you can that is! Without your knees knocking.I also got an infection last time. Had to get Antibiotics from GP. Has a 2 week infection and bleeding, pain, after the last hysteroscopy there.Reply: we can offer general anesthesia. No thanks I appreciate urgency but not going to your hospital again.Refer me to another hospital, goodbye!

Review titled Put at ease through all the procedures
by Breastunituser - Posted on 11 September 2023
I got called to the breast screening assessment clinic at Lincoln and everybody that dealt with me was truly amazing and compassionate, even when I had a minor wobble. They put me at ease through all the procedures and explained what was going to happen.
