Review titled Emergency gastric bleeding
by A new Patient's experience - Posted on 09 October 2023
I was aware of internal bleeding, during a visit to the toilet early in the morning. My Wife called the ambulance that arrived within 10 mins. After the crew's assessment, I was taken to Lincoln County Hospital, and admitted, as soon as we arrived. From then on, I was quickly seen by various Doctors/Consultants, and a CT Scan was arranged. I latter had an Endoscopy I was treated with care and respect during every procedure. I had to wait for a free Ward bed until afternoon of the following day, being monitored all the time. I had first hand experience of the bed shortage etc, but felt whatever, I was in a safe place, in safe hands. Shorty after the Endoscopy, I was advised that the procedure had not found anything untoward, and that I was free to return home, and a colonoscopy would be arranged for me at Grantham General Hospital, where I would attend as an Outpatient, the above location is nearer to my Home.

Review titled diabolical parking
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2023
want to warn people of the parking at lincoln been taking family member that uses a wheelchair visiting mainly in afternoons they have a blue badge but can never get disabled bay even at weekends. main car park full people driving around looking for a space.Yet 2 disabled bays near A&E now 20mins drop off bays never seen used or vehicle has been ticketed. There is another 20 min drop off bay for meau with disabled bays near ward we where going to, tried asking parking attendent if 20mins applied to blue badge holders but he didn't understand English would just keep pointing at blue badges bays near A&E that where all full. If someone would like reply interested to know. When in ward visiting could see staff car park which always had space and would been lot closer for pushing wheelchair. Believe hospital needs double number disabled bays 50% more normal spaces. Letting blue badges holders use 20min drop off spaces without time limit and staff only areas might be tempory help until permanent solution found. Not having Nhs and contractors vans in main car park would also help.

Thank you for your comments regarding the car park facilities at Lincoln County Hospital and I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you have experienced. Unfortunately, the Hospital only has a limited number of car park spaces available and the Trust does advise, those that are able, to use alternative modes of travel to access the site. The Trust has committed to the NHS England objective of being Net Carbon Neutral by 2040 and currently, additional car park areas are unlikely to be introduced. There are 26 disabled spaces in the Outpatients car park which is 32% of the available number of spaces, and there is a designated Blue Badge car park adjacent to the Main Reception with 27 spaces. Blue Badge holders are also entitled to park in any visitor space, provided the vehicle is registered with the Hospital for parking, and the Blue Badge is displayed in the windscreen. The new drop-off bays were created to reduce the number of vehicles from illegally parking outside the UTC entrance, where they were causing obstruction and a risk to patient and visitor safety. The 20 minute only drop-off bays are required to ease congestion in all car parks, to allow individuals, who do not require a parking space for a longer length of time to pick up and drop off, thereby freeing up spaces for those that require an extended stay. Please be advised that Blue Badge holders are not exempt from the 20 minute parking regulation, although these can be used as an option to drop off a disabled patient/visitor and allow the motorist further time to look for a disabled/visitor bay. The Trust provides separate parking for staff, many of which work different shift patterns, therefore demand for staff parking spaces will vary throughout the day. Allocating separate staff parking, away from main Hospital entrances, also frees up spaces for patients/visitors. Thank you for your comment regarding contractors parking in the main visitor car park. Please be assured the Trust has specific areas for contractor parking and, following your comments, this will be reinforced by our Capital and Estates teams. Review titled Operation for a broken arm
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Charles - Posted on 26 May 2024
I required surgery and after care for a broken arm. The Orthopaedics team at LCH did a fantastic job at fixing my arm and checking up on me during recovery. They took extra time during the surgery to ensure I had the best outcome possible. 8 months on and I am back to my full self. I'm grateful for the care and attentiveness of my surgeon and the team. 10/10, would get broken arm fixed here again.

Review titled Emergency admission to Lincoln County Hospital
by Leo1964 - Posted on 11 September 2023
Sent to A&E with referral letter from GP, checked in at A&E at approx 15.45. Triaged and subsequently assessed by Doctors, to be informed at approx 20.30 that admission would be necessary (when a bed becomes available) for treatment and Endoscopic procedure. Spent the whole night, and most of the following day in a less than comfortable chair (alongside many others) until finally being moved onto EAMU at appro 19.00.

Review titled My Colonoscopy
by Baker09767 - Posted on 13 September 2023
Any nerves that I might have had were immediately dispelled as soon as I walked through the door. All of the staff that I met were truly professional throughout. Everything that was about to happen was fully explained to me and all question that I had were answered. Pain relief options were fully explained and it was reinforced by being informed on numerous occasions that at any point you could change your mind and that the team would give you other options if at all possible. Not exactly the nicest of procedures, but definitely the nicest of teams. Thank you.

Review titled Made me feel like I was wasting their time
by gollum - Posted on 21 September 2023
My GP sent me to the 2ww hospital clinic because I had had x rays and an ultrasound scan on a lipoma which showed that it was bigger than acceptable. Apparently, if they are over a certain size you automatically need to be referred for it to be checked. I wasn't actually asked if I wanted to go, but why wouldn't I? It felt like the hospital doctor was not happy to see me, made me feel like I was wasting their time, they seemed angry that they didn't have access to any records that would show them the details they needed to assess me, as if that was my fault. The doctor asked me my age, not because they were checking whether I had dementia I'm sure, and they would have known my age. They made me feel that someone of my age shouldn't be bothering the service - it was supposed to be a cancer check, for heaven's sake! I endured about 5 minutes of the doctor's wrath, before they said that I would be sent an appointment for a scan and be seen again in 4 weeks. So much for 2ww. Then, I received my appointment for a CT scan 2 days later, only to find that it was for my shoulder and my problem is on my leg! Doesn't inspire confidence.

Review titled I can not speak highly enough of the staff and service
by Tom7548 - Posted on 05 December 2023
After an annual check up at my GP, I was referred to Urology at Lincoln County Hospital. They were thorough and very helpful. Examinations, MRI and Biopsy. They had time for me and my wife and explained things in detail. I am now on Active Surveillance. I can not speak highly enough of the staff and service they give. Thank you all at Lincoln County Hospital.

Review titled Awful.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2023
I have been referred to this hospital by my electrophysiologist for an urgent cardioversion to try and restore my heart to normal rhythm, having been in persistent Atrial Fibrillation since February this year. It has been months and not only have I not had any correspondence from Lincoln, I have left 3-4 voicemails with various cardiology receptionists and have not had one of those returned. I feel deflated, depressed and in a constant state of anxiety due to this condition which is making me borderline suicidal.

Review titled Follow Up appointment
by Autumn time - Posted on 31 August 2023
I waited almost 2 months after a procedure to just be told what I already knew. My first appointment 6 weeks previously was cancelled. I knew following my procedure I required surgery, however they waited to tell me at my follow up they hadn't sent off the request yet. I also requested if my surgery referral could be referred out to other hospitals within a 2 hour drive to speed up the process to be advise no and I would need to speak with my GP. I have already spoken with my GP about this prior to my appointment to be told I need to ask the department I'm dealing with so I feel like everyone is passing the book. Nobody can give me any time frames for surgery, for what is a straight forward day surgery. Meanwhile whilst I live in pain and discomfort until I've had my op.
