Review titled Excellent experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Olivia Hurton - Posted on 13 August 2023
I went to have my numerous brown spots checked out. My appointment was on a Saturday. All the staff that I came across were helpful and courteous. The Doctor I saw was charming and went out of her way to explain things for me. She was most informative and I came away having had a very good experience for which I thank you.

Review titled I was made to feel invisible
by neptunenh36 - Posted on 24 August 2023
I attended A&E at 3.30 am. I was initially assessed then saw a Dr at 10.30 am. The doctor said they would arrange blood tests and to see a specialist Dr. Whilst waiting in A&E on 2 occasions I felt faint. My partner advised a member of staff. The first time they checked my obs; the second time they did nothing. At around 5 pm I went to the desk to ask what was happening. I was told I was being admitted - the first I had been told of any admission. I was taken to SEAU ward. I was seen by a Dr on the ward that evening and by a team of Drs at around 8.30 am the next morning. They dismissed the tests the Dr suggested the previous evening and said I needed an ultrasound scan. At around 2.30 pm I asked the nurse what was happening as I hadn't been called for a scan. It then transpired the Dr never requested it. The Dr told me the next available slot was 10.10 am the next day. Had the Dr requested it when they should, I would not have to have waited this long. The ward was excessively noisy at night - loud staff, banging beds and furniture when multiple patients were moved to other wards during the night. Alarms on equipment was left sounding excessively. I was moved to Digby ward. The staff assumed I was incapable of independence and I found them rude. The ward was once again noisy, alarms ignored and left to sound for excessive periods. I was awake my entire time on that ward, sat up in bed. Not one staff member asked if I was OK or offered any pain relief, drink etc. I did not like what I heard or how the elderly patients on the ward were being treated. I discharged myself from LCH as I had had enough of being ignored and feeling invisible and not worthy of receiving care. The toilet on SEAU was unclean, bowls of urine left on the floor, bins and sink area. I did not see staff did changing gloves or cleaning equipment when taking obs on SEAU - where is infection control??? I did not see anyone clean the toilet on SEAU during my time there. Floors were mopped but half-heartedly and not thoroughly, in my view. Surfaces only seemed to be cleaned when a resident left the ward.

I was feeling worried and anxious, but all the staff were so kind and caring. They explained what was happening and didn't rush. I felt reassured and well looked after. The surroundings were pleasant and calming.

Review titled A brilliant response for a patient on a challenging journey
by Austen fan - Posted on 15 August 2023
I needed to call the assessment centre at Lincoln as I was feeling wobbly following chemotherapy. Despite it being over the phone, the nurse I spoke with was extremely kind and caring and highly professional. She went through everything and reassured me. Lincolnshire is a huge county and being able to speak to someone who responds in such a way is brilliant for a patient on a challenging journey. I am extremely grateful. My call was a week after my chemo, because I felt wobbly. Huge thanks to the Staff Nurse that answered.

Review titled What a super team here!
by Lise836 - Posted on 24 August 2023
I had something show up on my very first mammogram. I was utterly petrified when I received the letter the next week, inviting me back for further tests and an assessment. After 12 days wait, I arrived at the Breast clinic. I was given another mammogram, a scan and 13 biopsies were taken in two different ways. I completely put my trust in the amazing team that looked after me. Such lovely, friendly people were so kind and caring, they put you at ease in the best way they could. From there, I had another 11 scary days to wait until my biopsy results were back. Somehow I got through the agonising wait. I arrived on my results day extremely anxious. I was called in by a lovely nurse. The doctor told me he knew of my anxiety so just got on with what we were there for. He said I was cancer free and my biopsies were benign. The care and consideration was amazing. I felt completely in their hands and right until this job was done, they had my absolute interest at heart. Naturally, the relief was huge for me. Just those few words turned my world around. The doctor kindly said he would put it in a letter, I am not sure at that point as to whether I would really take any other information on board. The complete care I received in the Breast Unit at Lincoln, was absolutely amazing. Second to none! Super thank you to Diane for getting me through those dreadful 13 biopsies! What a super team here! Thank you so very very much. X

Review titled Attending A&E
by nashirank79 - Posted on 08 August 2023
I was advised by 111 to attend a&e due to a bad eye infection. On arrival I was admitted straight away and seen in 15 mins, saw a doctor who referred me to a eye specialist on Sunday afternoon, service there was first class by everyone

Review titled Staff shortages
by waterge54 - Posted on 25 August 2023
The staff at hospital were lovely since being admitted, very friendly and trying to do the best they can but lying in sodden sheets for nearly 5 hours one day and nearly 7 hours the next day was not very pleasant at all. In addition, being told you can't have a shower and wash your hair as there aren't enough staff to support you to do it safely was very frustrating. I felt grotty, embarrassed and dehumanised. There just aren't enough staff.

Dear waterge54 Thank you for the positive comments that our staff were both friendly and trying to do their best, we are sorry you felt you were left in a bed with wet sheets on a couple of occasions for a number of hours this is unacceptable and falls well below the standards we aim to deliver. We also apologise that you were unable to have an assisted shower and have your hair washed. If you would like this sharing with the Ward Sister for a personal response would you please contact our Pals department and provide more detail so we can make contact. Review titled Very good service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Fiona Paton - Posted on 27 August 2023
My husband had a very bad reaction to a bee sting. Reception in urgent care was friendly and efficient. We were seen by a triage staff nurse within an hour or so and moved to A & E. After a further hour or so (during which he was observed by doctors and nurses going past to see other patients), we saw a wonderful doctor who sorted everything out. I have had some bad experiences in the past but I now think Lincoln County A and E has got its act together. I dont particularly want to visit again, but I think I would be in very safe hands if I did.

Review titled Waiting 24 hrs in pain
by Crohns sufferer - Posted on 18 August 2023
What care? You were left waiting for hours and hours for pain relief, even after the triage nurse wrote on the front of my notes and begging 4 times for something for my pain, when all they would give me was paracetamol which was useless. After 10 hours waiting for the scan it confirmed I had a bowel constriction. Didn't matter. I still had to wait another 12 hours for a bed. There were patients waiting just as long just for prescriptions just to go home. From what I witnessed, A&E at Lincoln was a shambles. The ward staff were good. I think your management should sit in a typical A&E clinic and observe the chaos where there were not enough seats, no one being seen quickly despite seeming to have plenty of doctors. The nurses working tirelessly, but from my perspective anyone above nurse grade was appalling.

Review titled The service was excellent
by authenticwc36 - Posted on 18 August 2023
The whole department could not have done better, the service was excellent, everyone was smiling, helpful and informative. They deserved the cupcakes I gave them. Well done. The areas I went in were very clean and well ventilated.
