  1. Review titled Oncology Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 May 2024

I have recently been receiving treatment in both Radiotherapy and chemotherapy. After one week of treatment my family suffered a significant bereavement where we sadly lost our youngest son. I have to say the staff in both departments were absolutely wonderful. They were sympathetic loving and showed their feelings readily. They helped me through the entire treatment which without their help and support I know I would have not been able to continue. I have never ever known a group of staff within a hospital that have been so caring and just fabulous. I feel very emotional just writing this review and I cannot begin to express how I feel about them all. Thank god for people like these. I cannot thank them enough and I feel extremely lucky that they were there to help me and my family through this most harrowing of times. Rest assured these wonderful people will be there to help you through your treatment. Thank you once again to each and every one of you.

  2. Review titled Long wait-times, rude staff, poor facilities.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2024

I’ve visited the hospital 3 times over the last 12 months. The first two occasions, I was seen in UTC, and on one occasion I attended the A&E department. When attending the UTC, I waited for 9 hours, I was in significant pain and bleeding heavily due to (what I now know) was a ruptured ovarian cyst. During this time, I was offered no pain relief, despite being unable to move and crying in pain. I was given no reassurance or compassion from staff. I couldn’t even get a drink of water from the cooler as there were no cups available. I was seen after nine hours, and was told that there was nothing that could be done for me. When discussing my symptoms, I was told by a member of staff ‘I won’t be helping as I’m not trained to deal with vaginas’, this felt incredibly passive aggressive and insensitive. I left the department sobbing, having waited 9 hours in severe pain, to be given no answers or treatment. My partner was with me, and upon seeing me come out of the department so upset and still in pain, he waited around and asked to speak to the consultant that had seen me. He had to threaten a complaint, before we were taken seriously. I was then given two oral paracetamol tablets, and told to walk over to the maternity department for a scan. The consultant didn’t check to see if I’d had any paracetamol earlier on in the evening (I did), so the tablets were useless to me. I was made to walk down the road to the maternity department, despite the pain making it near-impossible to even move. I was offered no wheelchair or assistance. When we arrived at the maternity department, we had to find our own way around. There were no staff, the lights were off, and the place looked abandoned. We eventually found someone and were told again that we’d have to wait. We waited for an additional four hours to be seen, with no communication about what was happening. Upon being seen, I was once again dismissed. I was offered no pelvic scan, no pain relief, and given no indication of what was going on. I felt defeated and was still in severe pain. The following day, I lost a significant amount of blood, leading to a collapse and being unable to get up from the floor. I dealt with this alone as I was so put-off from revisiting the hospital. My second trip to the UTC was very similar. I acknowledge that there’s not always an easy fix for symptoms and complaints, but respect and compassion go a long-way. I felt unsafe and neglected as a patient, and felt that the staff (minus a few) were rude and abrasive. When visiting the A&E, my experience wasn’t much better. Myself, along with other patients, had to sit on the floor, due to a lack of seating. The communication from staff was poor, multiple other patients shared similar frustrations. One gentleman had been left standing/waiting for so long that he collapsed in front of everyone. The hospital itself and the treatment of patients is shocking, it’s very unnerving to have to rely on this service in times of need.

  3. Review titled Lovely female doctor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Laura - Posted on 24 May 2024

I have never visited accident and emergency department before in Lincoln but I was in a bit shocked how busy it actually gets and members of the public just take each other seats very quickly! The public not respecting other peoples privacy if a doctors come up to a patient to speak to them, people just listen in. I went a few weeks ago, saw a female doctor that saw to me, she was lovely, I was worried about why I had an extreme migraine and feeling sick. She did loads of test just to rule things out, and always kept coming back to me to see if I had improved, show that she was concern of my symptoms, very understanding, you could see she was trying to rule everything out, I just felt like in my opinion that’s how a doctor profession should be, very professional. I thought it was lovely that when she finished her shift, while I was sat in A and E, she handed over to me that her colleague was going to take over looking after me, she said bye. I just thought that was really thoughtful. I didn’t get her name, but Thankyou again!

  4. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I came to this hospital for a Pelvic & Abdominal Ultrasound. The wait times for the procedure were excellent. The waiting room was comfortable, clean, tidy - the facilities were clean and good quality. The scan was carried out by an extremely experienced and thorough member of staff - the staff were friendly, understanding and polite, I felt I was in safe hands. My dignity maintained at all times. The procedure was completed promptly and I was seen in good time. The staff gave clear instructions when they needed me to do anything, they answered my questions and asked for my permission. I didn’t come away feeling distressed by the experience because I find investigations very difficult to cope with and sometimes they can be unpleasant especially not knowing what to expect and having had some bad experiences in the past. I’m really grateful for the care I received when attending this department and I can’t really fault the staff. The only thing I would say is that on the appointment letter I received, I was given incorrect instructions about preparation for my ultrasound and this caused anxiety, thankfully it all worked out but I just don’t want anyone else to have to come back on another occasion due to inadequate preparations. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hospital to undergo an ultrasound and reassuring friends or family. Thank you so much.

  5. Review titled Rubbish!

Rated 1 star out of 5

We attended this week after our Doctor sent us to A&E as an emergency as my son had suspected appendicitis. He sent us with the paperwork which had "?Appendicitus" in capitals written across it in bright red ink. We also explained to the woman on the front desk what the issue was and explained he'd been sent up there to have blood tests and a scan. After waiting a while (normal for A&E) he got seen in Triage. We explained what the issue was to the nurse's back as she didn't turn round once to speak to us, just jotted something down and then sent us to X-ray. We thought the scans and X-rays were in the same area so didn't question it, however we did question it when my son was given a chest X-ray and not a scan! I spoke to a nurse about the fact he'd not been given the scan he needed and she said he was down to have bloods taken but they'd had an influx of patients so he'd have to wait. I explained that I understood this but questioned why he was given a chest X-ray rather than a scan, to which she fobbed me off with the reasoning "they may have been seeing if his cough had caused the pain!" Seriously?! After waiting for another couple of hours with nothing happening we opted to go home with the plans to take my son to A&E in Pilgrim if he got worse. 10 hours later A&E rang me to ask where he'd gone! Avoid this place at all costs, it's a joke!

  6. Review titled Excellent treatment and wonderful Staff

I visited the Maxillofacial department at Lincoln County Hospital today for a pre radiotherapy dental assessment. I am happy to say the staff in the department could not have been any more friendly, accommodating or efficient. They are a credit to the hospital. A big than you to them all.

  7. Review titled Horrific experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was acutely unwell when I arrived, middle of the afternoon on a bank holiday. The department was absolutely full, mostly of walking well. I had a blood sugar reading of 27, so I was becoming confused, faint and desperate. My daughter asked several times for me to have a bed as I kept passing out on the hard and uncomfortable chairs provided. All requests were either ignored or refused. I spent all day there, with various cursory interventions given in order to keep me quiet. The set up is clever, it gives you the impression that you are being helped but this nothing further from the truth. The time your name is called to triage, your horror begins. You are led to a huge room full of poorly people, some needing IV treatment and others just despondently sitting there. I was given IV treatment, no dignity afforded. No privacy and no care. My blood sugar was sky high and my daughter was frightened for me becoming she we had been forced to sit for hours and I was passing out every hour or so. I am beyond upset for our county. Lincoln has the most abysmal A and E service I have ever seen. The staffing seems fine, it’s the sheer numbers and the ways of working that are an issue. Please stay away if you have a bad knee or a cut finger. Lord above, how would you want to join that queue if your needs were anything less than an emergency?!! I am truly scared for people if they decide to go here. You’ll be lucky to get out with a diagnosis let alone dignified treatment.

  8. Review titled Answer the phone!!!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2024

My father was admitted into a&e last night at 17:30, my mother received one call last night to say he had pneumonia and they would call her the next morning with an update. It's now 11:00 and no call. I have just called and been told he is still in a&e, (17.5 hours later) and the switchboard transferred me to a&e. I waited on the phone with it ringing for 16 minutes and no one answered! Absolutely appalling service! Do you not care that there are families at home worried about their loved ones? Clearly not!

  9. Review titled So efficient and friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by NicolaH - Posted on 23 March 2024

Everyone at the Breast Surgery unit was so friendly and reassuring. Like most women visiting the centre I was very nervous of what might be discovered. The service was so quick and efficient within an hour I had a chat with a consultant, mammogram, ultrasound and a cyst drained followed by a final quick chat with thr consultant. It was a really positive experience.

  10. Review titled Have written to Dr on 14/2/24 regarding a patient

Rated 1 star out of 5

by An Jo - Posted on 18 March 2024

We are a 3rd party company and have written to a patients consultant to clarify no changes since we last wrote. The customer is due to go on holiday tomorrow and needed the info before then. Have tried to call, all day Thursday, Friday, and again Today with no luck. Really not amazing. Customer is losing money and cant work due to the consultant taking their time with reports.
