Review titled Extreme wait times causing significant developmental delays
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 February 2024
We have been waiting for our child to have surgery to fit grommets and remove their tonsils and adenoids since November 2020. Our child has failed several hearing tests and suffers terribly with reoccorruing tonsillitis and sleep apnea. We have been let down by the ent department who do not take our worries seriously enough. Our child is behind on their speech and language development and is constantly missing out due to being too unwell and needing to rest with antibiotics. Consent was signed in January 2023 for this surgery to take place and we are still waiting. It isn't good enough. I've tried phoning ent for an update and I have left several voicemail and get no response. How can children be left to suffer for years during their most important developmental years?

Review titled Hemswell and Branston Ward
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Every visit provided great and compassionate practice. Very satisfied with care received by Hemswell ward. Very effective and communicative, even when appointment was delayed we were impressed by the service given (regular updates and communication). Had a mva procedure which I can’t fault the process and care, as a nurse myself and this being my first time as the patient. Hemswell ward and their staff made a difficult miscarriage experience more bareable with their care given, thank you. Also like to thank Branston ward for being so easily accessible for advice and reassurance and being so easy reach with answering their phone when I called with a concern.

Review titled Abysmal

I took my son to his max fax appointment on the 3rd of February because his jaw dislocated due to having hEDS. I was dismissed by the Dr, he was very rude & snapped at me, saying it wasn't a dislocation. I felt the entire consultation was a waste of my time & frankly I'd like a second opinion, as my son cannot eat or drink when his jaw does this. To add insult to injury, we've had no letter from the consultant, which I needed in order to give to my son's dentists so they would give him braces, as it was suggested this would help. I put down the lack of letter to the post being a bit rubbish but I called my GP to ask if they had a copy they could email me, I my to find that 1, they don't & 2, they've no record of this appointment at all. I'm incredibly disappointed by this. Most of the appointments I've had for my son have been very good. This however, is abysmal. 0/10

I was suffering from very high blood pressure 205/105 pulse 39. I was very short of breath. I phoned 111 for advice and i received a phone call from a doctor who advised me to go to a/e. I was taken by car by my partner. I kept falling asleep in the car. Once there i processed and my ailments recorded. I then waited. I was within a short time checked on ecg which was fine. I had my blood pressure taken when was the same. I was so tired i could hardly keep awake and i had to have leverage by way of the nurses arm to walk without staggering. I was guided to a chair amongst a huge amount of patients. I fell asleep in the chair only to be nudged by the patient in the next chair. I then fell asleep again this time politely Pushed back (i was sleeping on her shoulder). I was there about an hour and the patient next chair had been there two hours. Enough i thought. I am not going to die in a chair. I was so so tired. I signed a discharge paper and my partner picked me up and took me home. I slept for 3 hours. We got the local doctor to authorised an increase in Blood pressure tablets but alas it has barely made a difference. Blood pressure still high weak legs short of breath but one good thing..i am at home

Review titled The whole team were amazing
by Alison724 - Posted on 12 January 2024
It it so much easier now having a dedicated pre-op assessment clinic. I was made to feel at ease from when I arrived to leaving. The whole team were amazing. I know before an operation can be a stressful time, we become nervous, but don’t worry about going to the clinic. I was cared for and they were not distracted at any time. Everything was explained to me and I was encouraged to ask anything. An excellent visit and definitely I would say a centre of excellence. Thank you

Dear Alison724 Thank you so much for this positive feedback. The aim of pre op assessment is to make the patients journey to surgery as smooth and stress free as possible. To know that we are achieving this is very good to hear. I will ensure that this is feed back to the pre op teams. Kind Regards

Review titled Wonderfully kind staff
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Chloem92 - Posted on 19 January 2024
I phoned the ENT operations waiting line recently, after being told that the operation I was waiting for would have been completed in November/December 2023. I spoke with a man at the service who was so unbelievably kind and went above and beyond to help me. When enquiring about an operation date, I became very tearful (as I've been suffering the symptoms of this issue for approx 3 years now and have constant discomfort and pains, and it impacts massively on most aspects of my life). I informed him that I had been struggling with this for a very long time and was starting to feel like the light was further away from the end of the tunnel than ever. He then told me he would be in contact, and the phone call ended. Approximately 15 minutes later he called me back, and stated that he had managed to move some things around in schedules and provided me with a date for the operation I am so desperately waiting for. I was so thankful to this man, he took everything I said on board, which nobody else had done up until this point despite me contacting them several times. He really is a brilliant example of the NHS. Thank you

I've just written 2000 words which somehow have just disappeared! I can't face doing this again so I will just say that my experience at Lincoln County was a good one. Wonderful care, great compassion and dedication in sometimes difficult circumstances. I have no complaints at all. Thank you.

Review titled My appointment
by Peter827 - Posted on 12 January 2024
My original appointment at Lincoln Hospital was at 10:30. It takes nearly an hour to get to the hospital. By the time I got there and to the clinic it was 10:25. As I sat waiting I checked my phone and saw I had a missed call. But they had left a voice message. Time of call was 10:16. The message was from the hospital telling me my appointment had been cancelled. They would get back in touch with a new appointment. A few days later I received a text message (no letter or phone call, just a text message ) saying I had a new appointment at Lincoln hospital. The day before I rang the hospital to confirm this appointment. After 30 mins waiting to get through I was told yes this was definitely my new appointment. The day of my appointment I had to be up for 6 in the morning. I left my house at 7:30 to give me enough time to get to my appointment on time. At around 8:20 I was still stuck in traffic and would no way make it to the hospital for 8:30. I rang Lincoln Hospital (twice) to let them know I was going to be late. I couldn't get through to anyone both times. Then (while still stuck in traffic) my phone rang and it was the hospital. This was now just after 8:30. Only to be told over the phone that my appointment was a telephone appointment. I pulled over (eventually) and took my phone appointment. Which wasn't the best situation to take a very important appointment. After the phone appointment I went home. I had been on the road for over 2 hours by the time I got home. Totally stressed out and absolutely tired out and trying to work out what had just happened. I can not remember what I said in the appointment. Whether I mentioned my problems properly. It was all a blur. I still can't believe what happened.

Dear Peter827 May I sincerely apologise on behalf of Outpatients at ULHT for your poor experience. Unfortunately without the details of you appointment I am unable to provide a personal response, however I can only speculate that the short notice cancellation may have been due to industrial action or staff sickness. We do our very best to re-appoint patients as soon as possible in these circumstances, and we will endeavour to contact patients with the details of a short notice appointment, however if this is not possible a letter is sent which is not always received in time. I can only apologise further that after receiving a text message reminder for the rebooked appointment you were not informed when contacting us this would be a telephone consultation. I have reminded the Outpatient telephone teams to check patients are aware of how their appointment will be delivered going forward. Thank you for your valuable feedback, please do get in touch with myself or via our PALS team if you would like me to look into this further. Kind Regards Laura Kearney Interim Clinical Services Manager, Outpatients Laura.Kearney@ULH.nhs.uk
