  1. Review titled A&E Children’s Dept waiting time

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2024

We attended the children’s A&E department today with our son who had suffered an asthma attack the previous night. Initially we were impressed with the friendly staff and prompt attention from the triage nurse. However, we then waited 5 hours to be seen by a doctor. This pattern was repeated for a number of patients who included some very young children (one infant definitely under 2 years old). There appears to be a disconnect between being seen on arrival and actual treatment. I must add that the unit was not particularly busy at the time (no more than 6 children waiting to be seen). This is not a complaint about staff - reception, nursing or doctor. It is a complaint about the system which appears to have a serious bottleneck. One nurse apologised for the wait but no explanation was given at any time as to why it occurred (e.g shortage of doctors or an emergency elsewhere).

  2. Review titled Friendly and caring nursing staff … but

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2024

Very disappointed with the manners of the doctor in charge. He neither acknowledged nor spoke to me during the whole process which I found rude and at odds with the wonderful treatment I have received in other departments at Macclesfield hospital over the years. Fortunately the nursing staff were very kind towards me, making the experience less disagreeable than it was.

  3. Review titled Amazing children's ward, Amazing staff 👏

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would like to say a massive thank you to the children's ward in macc hospital. Left today with my son after nearly all week in there and the staff are so so nice and amazing at their job. We actually came all the way from sandbach as my son has been there before and I know how good the staff are. They made our stay so welcoming and really looked after my son. I hope they all get rewarded because they all do an amazing job and should be really proud of themselves. Thank you 💓💓💓

  4. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited A&E this morning (26/10/24) for a minor injury. I was very impressed by the anp/enp that I saw. She had a lovely bedside manner, explained herself very well, and was very personable. Sorry I didn’t catch her name but hope this can get back to her. I work in the NHS and see many examples of great practice but we often overlook feeding this back. Keep up the good work!

  6. Review titled An exceptional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Annette Boden - Posted on 20 September 2024

My husband was admitted to the critical care unit in September. The medical staff and consultants were extremely compassionate and caring and worked diligently to save my husbands life. It was a very clean, safe environment. I want to thank the staff and consultants so much for all they did for my husband and the care they showed to me also. The ward clerk and the sisters in charge on each shift were especially kind and helpful but every nurse looking after my husband was professional and their nursing care was to an exceptionally high standard. I was kept informed every step of the way and felt reassured all the time. The consultants were available when I wanted to speak to them and kept me up to date. At every step my husband's needs and wishes were considered and met. Thank you so much.

  7. Review titled 5 star treatment

I had a hernia repair procedure carried out in the ‘Surgical day care unit’ and I can honestly say that I was amazed at the quality of my treatment. From the moment I entered reception to the moment I left was simply 5 star care. To the porters, the nurses, the doctors and the wonderful surgeon I can only offer my sincere thanks, a great job done by a team of very professional people,

  8. Review titled Welcoming and Friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Megan - Posted on 12 September 2024

This was my first time visiting Macclesfield hospital for an appointment for my little boy and I was extremely happy with the over all experience, as someone with quite a bad experience with other hospitals it’s really changed my perspective. The staff were absolutely amazing, so good and caring with children. There wasn’t a face I saw without a smile and everyone was so helpful as we weren’t familiar with the hospital. Everything was managed quickly and efficiently without feeling rushed the staff were very understanding and attentive. I could see there was a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hospital. Very impressed with everything over all and would highly recommend, huge well done and thank you to everyone.

  9. Review titled Amazing care and professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Denis - Posted on 29 October 2024

I broke my hip in the Peak and reached A&E on Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning, I was already operated on. The level of care was punctual, professional, and warmhearted. The people of the Peak and Macclesfield hospital will stay in my heart. I feel heartfelt appreciation for our NHS organisation and, most of all, people.

  10. Review titled Children's A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Stanway - Posted on 10 September 2024

I brought my daughter in to the children's A&E department as she had hurt her ankle in PE. Everyone of the staff who saw us was brilliant and extremely helpful. From booking my daughter in, to us leaving took approx 40 min. This included an examination from the Nurse Consultant, having an X-Ray, and getting the results. Brilliant. The facilities were clean and bright with lots of things for the children to do while they waited. It really was an excellent service and experience.
