  1. Review titled Brilliant care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dr Philippa Smith - Posted on 18 November 2022

My mother was admitted to mercer ward. The care has been outstanding; nurses are professional, thoughtful and caring. Doctors are also excellent and have kept me up to date. They have ensured that my mother remains comfortable, for which I am eternally grateful.

  2. Review titled Standards of care are amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Nicholas J Coker - Posted on 06 October 2022

After getting a metal fragment in my eye and presenting to A&E I was informed I'd have an hour and a half hour wait for triage before being seen in approx 5 hours. I was seen in 50 minutes, which was good and sent to minors. Given the option of waiting 8 hours to be seen or returning the following day I opted for an appointment. Due to unforseen circumstances my lift fell through for the following morning. I phoned to notify the dept and the staff were great and scheduled an appointment for me a few hours later. Once I arrived I was in, fixed and out again in less than 15 minutes. The staff were great with steady needle hands! My only criticism is that there were obviously long waiting lists and it seemed the staff were stretched too thin and need more support.

  3. Review titled The treatment was exemplary

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Derek - Posted on 27 October 2022

I was admitted on Wednesday to the ccu after two cardiac arrests, one at home and one at the hospital. I had a range of tests, including chest X-rays, ecg's and an Echocardiogram. My problem was quickly identified as Bradycardia (A very slow heart rate) Thursday I was fitted with a Pacemaker and Friday I was home. I received the utmost care and empathy from all staff, from the Cardiologists, Nurses, Auxiliraries and the Cleaners. I simply cannot praise the hospital and staff for everything they did for me ... without the due care and attention I received I would not be here today. Thank you from myself and my family, bless you all. Derek

  4. Review titled Rapid Access after 8hour wait

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 October 2022

Refered 'urgently' with a retinal tear and hemorrhage on right eye. Rapid access clinic called the same day with early appointment for surgery the following morning. Needless to say I am very anxious. Drops inserted to dilate pupils. Waited to be told staff member off sick so I'm pushed back to 2.15pm. Dilation worn off so another dose of drops inserted ready for my 2.15pm slot. Consultant calls me in at 2.35pm to say he is too busy and needs to see to the general eye clinic patients before ME. The majority of patients sitting around me arrive way after I have but get seen. My choice was either wait until end of clinic for my laser photocoagulation surgery or come back the next day. I had already had a sleepless night before this scheduled appointment so was definitely wanting to get this over with today!!! By 5pm I'm a tearful anxious mess. The Consultant inserted more drops and numbing drops but within 2 mins the surgery started. Awful sharp pains and I almost passed out. The worst experience ever. Advised to go home and rest for a few days. The summary of my day...I was made to wait from 9am to 5pm for a 10minute procedure. Totally unexceptable treatment. Was a horrible experience and has really affected me mentally.

  5. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sonia Holmes - Posted on 24 October 2022

Admitted for urgent CT scan of possible blood clot in abdominal aorta. Unfortunately my veins notoriously difficult to locate with cannula needle. Eventually one was found by a combination of ultrasound and the skill of a doctor. I was impressed to hear him muttering the names of veins and arteries as his finger moved over my arm. His way of retaining his knowledge of the human body during work. I thought that they learnt this during their studies, then promptly forgot a lot of it. He was so gentle, after feeling like the proverbial pincushion, I didn’t even feel the insertion of the needle. The CT scan was over without any problems & he quickly confirmed it was clear, although apparently I have gall stones which I didn’t know about. The staff were all very kind and caring, they made a worrying time for my husband and myself more bearable by their calm and knowledgeable demeanour. Not the best way to spend a Saturday, but certainly not the worst either. The staff inspire confidence in our NHS and although I hope I do not have to visit them again in the future, it gives me a warm feeling knowing they are there. Thank you .

I had a Urology short stay admission today. This is the second time I had to attend the hospital for this . I also had some other interventions previously which were not successful due to the condition. All the staff I encountered were very helpful and accommodating and the care I received was always excellent . I work as a GP and I am proud to see the NHS provide such an amazing service. Long may it continue ! Thank you very much.

  8. Review titled Absolute perfection in care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by William and Veronica Stewart - Posted on 26 August 2022

Brought husband to hospital in quite a bad state. Not himself at all and in wheelchair - usually playing golf 3 times a week. He felt very ill. He was given attention quite quickly. Took blood pressure and put on drip took blood, gave ECG and blood pressure many times. It seemed nothing was too much trouble. Eventually he felt better and after elderly care checks and back to a better feeling, checked he could react normally to things and manage stairs he was allowed home. Just arriving there and their immediate care made an improvement. We cannot thank A and E enough and hope they receive this praise directly. Thank you all so much Veronica and William Stewart

  9. Review titled The treatment I received today was amazing

    by Niksmith80 - Posted on 17 August 2022

After finding a lump in my breast just over a week ago my doctor referred me to the Peggy Wood clinic. I arrived today and was greeted by a very polite caring receptionist who took my details and got me sorted in the waiting area. I was then shown to a dr , then to have a mammogram, then to have a ultrasound before being informed that I had a breast cyst. They were able to drain it while I was there. All the staff I meet today were friendly and happy and made me feel at ease. We had a laugh which was lovely as I had been so worried about what the outcome might be. They were able to do everything within 90 mins and I left knowing that everything was ok. The treatment received today was amazing and I am so grateful to the staff for making what truly is a worrying time into an amazing experience. Thank you all so much.

I visited the audiology department for a hearing test. I was greeted at reception with a smile and very pleasant manner. The audiologist called me in and explained the procedure to me, allowing plenty of time for any questions. A thorough history was taken prior to the test and she was very professional and caring. Thank you.
