I’ve been under the care of the glaucoma tram at Manchester Royal Eye for many years, having also had two trabs and also having a recent cataract op. These guys are absolutely top notch. The care is outstanding. I feel totally confident leaving my sight in their safe hands.

Thank you for your feedback via the NHS website. We were sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope at Outpatient /Emergency service. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity for the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible. In response to your comment, your concerns have also been raised directly with the staff / department involved so that they can investigate, ensuring others don’t experience the same issues as you did. It is difficult to respond to all posts in a full way, often because of a lack of detailed information. Therefore, if you would like to discuss your experience with us in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk quoting reference number PO22/01540032.

Been under Opthalmology for over 2 years. Attended yesterday to have suture removal. The experience was second to none. I was treated with the utmost care and attention. The staff are all amazing. So efficient and helpful. I really appreciate all what they have done for me over the years and thank them all. Everything is explained. The Consultant is a real good expert. The procedure was that good I felt nothing. Thanks All.

With clear information for what to do once discharged. all the staff could not have been more pleasant and friendly. I know if ever need anything else doing there I will be on good hands keep up the good work x

Rated 1 star out of 5

very poor communication!! Consultants have no idea of patient worries. Insufficient empathy-consultants have your file in front of them and they get your name wrong. Seen so many consultants have lost count!! Keep getting different diagnosis and treatment plans. Consultants cannot agree-so how is the patient supposed to decide. Literature they send you in their information leaflets is contradictory and several years old!! One dept states -come back in 4 weeks -go to reception have to wait 7 weeks for appointment.

We are very sorry to hear of you poor experience of our services. This is not the service we want to provide our patients with and appreciate your frustration and concerns about your care. We have now introduced a new electronic patient record that will provide better and more complete patient information than paper notes alone which has the ability to send information directly to a patient’s mobile device for reference and guidance. Although this will address your concerns re relevant and up to date patient information, we will share your comments with the clinical team so that they can reflect and learn from your experience.
