  1. Review titled Compassionate staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 July 2024

I visited A&E with my 83 year old mum who had fallen at home. My 87 year old dad in a wheelchair insisted on being with her. The care was exemplary and the staff all took great effort to put mum at ease, taking into account the difficulty she has with her memory. My dad struggled, being 87 and having to stay up all night by her bedside, but staff took care of him too- One very talented, patient, compassionate nurse (I wish I knew her name) even found him a place to lie down for a while to help him get him through the night. I'm very grateful to everyone on shift that night- for the medical care and the whole family approach too.

  2. Review titled Wonderful ward c14

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After taking I'll with chest pain after passing through A & E and the Assessment ward I arrived at c14 Ward, I have never been looked after in hospital so well, and I've been in a few over the past 20 years, the staff from the Sisters to the care assistant and student nurses are so professional, and the care was second to none, I can also say hospital food the best I ever had in 20 years, I'm thinking of booking a week next Summer (joke) ,I can't thank them enough for my care which was first class,

  3. Review titled Wonderful communication and service and SEN friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jessica - Posted on 05 June 2024

My experience has been fantastic. I was seen by triage straight away and then they communicated with emergency outpatient department for an emergency scan, only 14 hours later than when I was first seen. I didn't have to wait long. I have SEN needs and found the foetal department overwhelming because of it's open plan. Straight away a midwife took me into a quiet waiting room and reassured me and gave me time as I had found getting around the hospital quite traumatic. I didn't even have to ask. She spotted me and took me to a quiet room, without making me feel embarrassed. I was very grateful for her sensitive and kind gesture. It made a massive difference.

The staff on ward b7 are amazing from start to finish. My visit for facial surgery was dealt with by care and professionalism. They put me at ease and went above and beyond to treat me and look after my neighbour who accompanied me.

  5. Review titled A long wait but efficient care at a high standard.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 May 2024

The A&E is an incredibly busy department with very long waits for everything from triage to test results. My care was handled very well by professionals who, although rushed off their feet, were kind and thorough. Yes I had to wait several hours so be prepared to wait and to wait alone during busy periods as relatives will be asked to leave if departments are busy.

  6. Review titled Nurses and doctors in Appleby suite are the best.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lyndsey MAY Griffiths - Posted on 28 May 2024

I've never been treated so kindly in a hospital before, the staff nurses and doctors are so attentative and kind, always checking up on you and keeping you calm when you're stressed about an operation. They made sure I ate and drank after the procedure and that I went home with someone else. I can't fault them. They are happy in their work and it shows in their care of patients. Thank you for looking after me.

  7. Review titled Pains and bleeding while pregnant

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 April 2024

When into a&e because I was having pains and bleeding at 13 weeks pregnant. Had to wait 4 hours to been moved on into a different room to then wait 40 minutes to be seen. After being seen I then got told it was another 4 hour wait to be seen by a doctor who would most likely sent me to maternity or to see the gynaecologist. The reception Rang both of them and I was told to wait until my scan and I shouldn’t be concerned. I didn’t actually get seen by a doctor or have any proper advice. I then went to my 12 week dating scan to be told the baby was no longer alive and I was going to miscarry. But because this on a Sunday I had to wait until Monday to be seen by the early pregnancy unit. I was told they would contact me but I rang then as I don’t receive a call and was told my notes hadn’t been passed on, they didnt have any record of my scan. After that the care I received has been lovely but a&e was a joke.

  9. Review titled Deanesly Unit c35 is excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by David15 - Posted on 22 April 2024

A very positive review, well deserved It's not nice to find your relative needs chemotherapy and radiotherapy so it's a great relief to be treated as a human when you initially contact them by phone. Clear info on how to get there and visiting hours and anything else you could reasonably expect. On arrival for my first visiting time the overall impression is that the staff have time for both individual patients and their visitors, are knowledgeable and informed. The c35 looks new, well maintained and very clean. Communication levels are high as exemplified by a doctor who took over a call to a nurse just to update me further. It's a sign of a well organised, managed, motivated care and treatment team. In the circumstances I think we have struck gold with this Unit but rest assured that if my current review needs to change, I'll update it. Although it's going to be a 6 month treatment pathway, based on their performance so far I feel there is a realistic possibility of recovery and if not it will not be a result of them not giving 100%. So I hope the team get to read this quickly, thank you.

  10. Review titled Colonoscopy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 March 2024

I was concerned because of stories from others about New Cross but the experience for my colonoscopy was actually really good, I was seen fast and doctors/nurses were great, letter said 12 and I had the procedure about 12:30 and given sufficient sedatives/painkilling, procedure was fast and comfortable, and then nurses afterwards were great and I only had to stay for around 30 mins post procedure even with sedatives Only issue was on the admin side as I didn't receive my appointment confirmation by post until less than a day before my appointment at 6:50pm by courier when I had to start taking the laxatives at 7pm, and I was considering not going because no one in central booking team could tell me and endoscopy number closes at 4:30pm, according to what I was told on the phone endoscopy don't give details of appointments centrally, so allowing this would be helpful to reduce stress from patients where appointment letters aren't coming through well in advance
