  1. Review titled Unapproachable reception staff

by Lfuller - Posted on 05 October 2022

I am in A&E and am sat next to reception while waiting for doctor. I am seeing staff approach people every few minutes and it’s awful to watch, staff were making faces to each other when speaking to a deaf man needing help. An Asian man approached and reception said to bear with them, no eye contact, in a monotone voice. The man said his wife had hurt her foot, with his wife standing there, and the reception staff began to speak louder and slow as if they did not understand. Their English was completely understandable and it made the couple look silly. One staff member sat chewing gum loudly with their mouth open. I feel sorry for other patients trying to communicate. The staff are not approachable nor kind in their approach, no sympathy or understanding shown.

  2. Review titled A&E organisation

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I am an oncology patient for over four years brilliant treatment, having trouble with shortage of breath asked by my consultant to go to a&e for X-ray and scan to check for blood clots this was by telephone at 1730 hrs.we got there at 1900 hrs and told the reception I was on chemo and also had a sepsis card as I have a reduced immune system and a scan and X-ray had been arranged. The reception said because of my chemo etc I would be forwarded in the queue. We sat in the queue whilst everyone who came in before was called through and quite a few that came in after us,finally called through to triage at 2400 hrs to sit and wait another three quarters of an hour then to be told we had to wait another five hours to see a doctor. Finally through to a room for blood tests etc, when doctor came he said the scan was organised at 1800 hrs the previous day but nobody had told us or the reception.scan finally happened at 1330hrs and we finally got the results after many enquiries at 1430hrs to say didn’t need X-ray and all was clear no heart or any other problems lt must be a chemo problem. Finally got out at 1500hrs after a twenty hour session for a four minute scan .So sepsis cars etc do not mean anything.

  4. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 September 2022

After having called 111 and taken to A&E with an ambulance based on their recommendation- I was sat in waiting room for 8 hours with no updates as to my mothers condition and no entry to see her. Reception staff simply kept saying stop can’t go in as she isn’t in a cubicle. She was given no food and drink and was left lying to off loading bay until 4am the following morning. Absolutely unbelievable. No regard for patients or relatives - not treated like human beings. Despite resource constraints there is always room for compassion and respect but not here.

When I was in this hospital having my baby I had the worst time ever the staff on the mother and baby unit especially night staff where very rude and two faced after just having my csection they left my bags outside the ward when my partner couldn't bring them in as was in the middle of the night didn't give me a bed for my baby every time I asked for help I would here the midwifes and health care assistants talking about me and the lady next to me saying we canf do anything for ourselves and they refused to give me pain relief when I was in agony my boyfriend and mum where asking and they didn't give me any for hours after I asked when I started screaming in pain and scared the girls next to me would not recommend going here to have your baby it was a disgrace if you want to be in that job role have a bit of a heart and do your job properly

  6. Review titled Excellent Patient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went into cardiology as a day case for a Cardioversion procedure. I was very pleased with the professionalism and general caring by the staff. Each person introduced themselves to me and everything was explained clearly so I knew what was going to happen. Can't be faulted. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Abigail Johnston - Posted on 03 September 2022

I have been in New cross for 2 nights, because of leaking waters and a threatened labour at just 32 weeks pregnant. What was a highly stressful situation has been made calm, well managed and fantastic. Every single midwife and lady up here I have seen over three days has been impeccable. Round the clock fantastic care and a wonderful bedside manner from all. My stay was in d9. Every single worker over these past few days has a clear love and care for their job role despite the immense pressures and responsibilities, it shows through their practice and I can’t them all enough. Even in the middle of the night I never felt alone or like I couldn’t go and talk to the ladies with any concerns. Or just press the call button. Very happy and could not leave without a good review. Fantastic team.

  9. Review titled Wonderful staff in the Colorectal Department.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Chris Grasso - Posted on 20 August 2022

Your Review: My name is Mrs Chris Grasso and today 19/8/2022 I came to this department for a colonoscopy. I cannot praise and thank the staff enough. You were all so kind and helpful and I was greeted with a smile from everyone. The skills of the doctors preforming the procedure was amazing and throughout the procedure they were so reassuring, I felt in such safe hands. The nursing staff were so lovely to me, the checking in nurse , the nurses who were with me during the procedure and those in recovery were the best and this hospital should be proud of their medical team. It is always worrying when you have to visit hospital but everyone put my mind at ease and for this I truly thank you. Please pass on my thanks to everyone in this department. The NHS at its very best.
