  1. Review titled Friendly staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lindsay - Posted on 22 July 2023

Thankyou to all the staff we encountered yesterday evening at the Newark Urgent Care Centre. All were kind, compassionate and person centred. They spoke directly with my daughter and were clear in their communication and friendly but professional in manner making us both feel at ease. Thankyou.

  2. Review titled Excellent all-round care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I spent 5 days on Sconce Ward and the experience was as pleasant as it could be given the circumstances. The staff were attentive and extremely caring, the doctors were efficient and knowledgeable and the physio could not have been more thoughtful. The food was of hotel quality, always hot, nutritious and tasteful. I could not compliment the hospital more highly.

  3. Review titled Doctors lovely, one nurse a bit abrupt

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 June 2023

Brought my son in with a wheeze and chesty cough - he's not a known asthmatic. Nurse was abrupt and made a rude comment asking why I'd not taken him to ED ( the Urgent treatment centre is nearer to us ) Told me off for not calling 111 first ( I didn't seem the need, as had decided to take him to hospital ) and once he was settled into a bay with monitoring, I went out for 1 minute to get an extension on my car park ticket. The nurse came running after me and shouted right accross the car park that I should forget about the car and shouldn't have left the unit ( I was literally just outside ) Felt like I was a naughty school girl being told off by the headmaster and came back into the unit really upset as was allready feeling overwhelmed about my son. Doctors lovely and frequently checked on us. Once decision made about treatment, it was quick and efficient, they kept me informed of the plan. Cup of tea make by one of the assistants was very welcome along with the sandwich for my son who hadn't felt upto eating all day. I work for the NHS and there are always campaigns about not using ED unless it's a genuine emergency. I went to the Urgent Treatment centre as thought it was the right place to go- and got told off for it. QMC ED often has 12 + hour waiting times so I went where I thought I could be seen the quickest. Aside from 1 staff member being rude, it was a positive experience with a good outcome for my son.

  4. Review titled Great speedy service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

With all the current delays at A&E in Lincoln, i went to Newark Urgent Care with a suspected broken foot. Within 30 mins of arriving i had seen the nurse practitioner and had an Xray . I then waited for 40mins to see the nurse practitioner again(she apologised for the delay, which was due to an emergency) where i was discharged with appropriate advice. So the whole visit was an hour and a half in total. I do know if you needed to see a doctor the wait was about 2 hours, but for me it was a fabulous service. Everyone was super friendly too.

  5. Review titled Organised and good service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 02 May 2023

I had to take my daughter to the urgent walk in centre this evening due to there being no doctor’s appointments available at our local surgery. The nurse saw us for the initial consultation within a few minutes of arriving and we were seen within the hour by the doctor which I thought was really good. The dr was very knowledgable and came across in a positive way. All in all the whole visit was as good as it could have been and my daughter didn’t feel distressed at anytime. So just wanted to say thanks 😊

  6. Review titled I felt respected and cared for

    by alphajh75 - Posted on 26 May 2023

I felt respected and cared for from the instant I walked in the front door. The place is meticulously clean, with friendly staff only too willing to help as well as to repeat advice.

  7. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 March 2023

I had occasion to visit Urgent Care in Newark Hospital, not life-threatening but nonetheless of concern. The staff (2 nurses) who dealt with me were wonderful, all smiles and a little light chatter to calm the nerves while necessary tests were completed, but compassionate and empathetic. These are the 'real' face of the NHS, caring and thoughtful. Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest. The middling review of 'same sex accommodation' is solely because I have no idea what the arrangements are, simply that I was treated as I would wish everyone to be treated.

All the staff in the endoscopy department have been kind, caring and compassionate, from reception staff to the nurse who did the pre-op, the 2 lovely nurses who were with me during the procedure and the nurse in recovery.

  9. Review titled Failing to send appointment letters

    by Maria41 - Posted on 06 February 2023

I was referred, allegedly, to get a Uss scan done. The first I heard of it, was a letter of discharge saying I missed my appointment and therefore was discharged! I NEVER ever receive any letter, text, email or anything telling me I had an appointment. How was I suppose to attend if no one told me about this Scan? I sent a letter to both the consultant and my GP about this. I also emailed Newark hospital. Time will tell if someone reaches out. I won’t hold my breath.

  10. Review titled Caring and positive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael Wilson - Posted on 06 January 2023

Concerned regarding apparent inflammation of a minor surgery wound I telephoned Newark hospital for advice. Everyone I spoke to from the friendly receptionist and nurses were very helpful indeed. I was advised to visit the outpatients department as soon as possible to see a staff nurse who was waiting to see me. Arriving I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who immediately arranged for the staff nurse to see me. From then on the staff nurse cared for me impeccably arranging for a consultant to check on my concerns. These concerns were pleasantly reconciled with advice on treatment. Thanks to all the staff at Newark hospital for the manner in which they looked after me and especially the staff nurse who was so attentive, caring and friendly.
