Review titled Guessing game
Rated 1 star out of 5

The treatment is all over the place no coherent treatment or care plan provided to family members, not even the specifics of how the surgery went. Repeated requests to speak to a doctor and waiting for hours are unacceptable. Basic patient information is ignored or overlooked as no specific doctor is assigned but rather a different doctor who has perused the notes appear. If we the family were not there day to day the patient would have suffered as we noted concerns and indicators for concern before they did. The nurses well lovely and helpful and they endured abused from other patients and yet still tried to do their job but they were clearly frustrated and tired. In surgical there should be more support from the doctors it is not the nurses job to inform patient or next of kin on medical treatment as they are not the ones who decide when patient is discharged. Also patients with clear mental health issues and aggressive were placed in a ward with vulnerable patients who cannot move this raised concern for me as to whether the patients were safe. When doctors leave notes they should also leave a brief comment as to what can be said to next of kin instead of leaving us with no information even on how the surgery went.

Review titled No empathy.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I was in excruciating pain and told staff this. My GP told me to keep my foot elevated yet I was left in waiting area for hours which resulted in my foot turning blue and I could feel my broken bone poking into my skin. I was told it’s first come first serve so even someone with flu symptoms was seen before me. No triage, no consideration for my pain, no wheelchair offered despite my request. Reception staff were so rude to me that I left as I was better off at home.

I had an asthma flare up and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. My input was respected and I was treated well. Even in a stressful season for everyone in the NHS, the Emergency Department still continues to shine. Thank you so much for your support.

Review titled Really grateful beyond words
Rated 5 stars out of 5

End of April I became very ill and was sent to a&e. I had to have a double blood transfusion, and I cannot thank all of Newham General nurses and the amazing doctors and all the other staff as well. I was cared for beautifully, although I was very ill, I was in awe of how all of the nurses were so kind to me, the doctors were similar to my age, full of energy and goodness. I was given a bed, had transfusions, I was kept overnight as I was quite ill. I was provided breakfast bought to me, I was cared for and regularly monitored All the staff were so kind in caring for me, What more could I have asked for. Please my fellow patients, be kind and let things go, these doctors and nurses are under pressure and after all human beings just like the rest of us. I have experienced many negative things, but this wonderful experience will stay with me for life. Thank you to everyone at Newham General, you are so appreciated. I promise.

Review titled Zero detail of procedure provided
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2023
I am booked in for a procedure with the vascular team, and whilst I broadly understand the purpose of it, the detail of the procedure has long since left my simple brain while I lingered on the waiting list. I did receive a letter about my appointment, but that contained precisely zero details of the procedure. I have tried calling the hospital to speak to the Vascular Team, but the number provided in my SMS notification redirects quite quickly to a Tesco Mobile voicemail box. I don't hold out much hope for my message there being returned. I tried calling the hospital and they put me through to an automated menu, suggesting I press 6 to speak to the Vascular team. That doesn't work and it didn't work on any of the three occasions I attempted it. The hospital reception indicated I wasn't the first person to have told them that, and instead transferred my call to PALS. They didn't answer so now I have left a message and waiting indefinitely for PALS or a Tesco Mobile account holder to call me back and help me with more of the details of my scheduled surgery. This. Is. Crazy. The uncertainty is unfair. Clap all you like for the nurses and doctors, but accessing anyone to clarify what they're planning to do to me while sedated or under general anaesthetic seems impossible and I think that's totally unacceptable.

Review titled No real care or treatment received.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 March 2023
We came into the emergency department after my husband was in a really bad incident. After sitting around for about 5/6 hours, fresh from the incident, in the middle of the night just answering questions from each person we were transferred to..along with police, and was just discharged, told to have paracetamol and ibro. No one even cleaned up his really bad cuts… his skin was off in a lot of areas & we even had to check if he had broken bones which shows how bad it all was. Now he’s currently sitting at home in such bad pain, not bandaged or cleaned with their help, no crutches which the police was surprised about. I am appalled by the lack of support honestly. He has infections and cannot even walk..he had to be on the wheelchair in the hospital, how bad did they have to see h to actually provide physical treatment?..will report this further.
