While i understand the challenges the NHS are going through with staff shortages, it doesnt take much to communicate with people rather than just leaving them in a waiting room for 5 hours without any idea of whats happening. My son was sent for blood test and then ppst blood test had to wait for more than 5 hours with not one person checking on him or communicating whats happening to all the poor people sat there for hours in the same boat.

My experience in minors was excellent. I visited the dept as I had been knocked off my cycle. Staff were very helpful and minors were well organised, I had been expecting a long wait but this was not the case. As a retired Staff Nurse I felt really proud of the care I received

Yesterday I went the hospital because of extreme pain on my left side of body. after 6 hours doctor told that I have kidney infection. I started to use antibiotics and pain relief which they gave me. But other day I had extraordinart pain and I was feeling like I have heart attack. I was crying with to much pain. Someone told me that they prepared pain killer but first I should see nurse. I waited one hour long in front of nurse door in a very very bad situation but they did not care. In this hospital staff does not care the patients and they are so slow while working. They don’t focus their job. I felt so unsecure. Because I was feeling so so bad because of extreme kidney and heart pain but they did not look at me.

The following is the experience and opinion of a former medical professional with a background in epidemiology, emergency medicine, and rolling out a nationwide private healthcare program. I have seen good and bad hospitals around the world. My 4 year old son, who has epilepsy, had a fever for a couple days and then his fever was consistently spiking over 40.5*. We called 999 and the paramedic arrived in about an hour. The paramedic recommended taking my son to the hospital based on the crackle in my sons chest, his cough, tremors, and extreme high grade fever. I drove an hour to the hospital and was very quickly brought back to a bed in the A&E ward. I was impressed with the speed with which they got my son a bed… but it was all downhill from there. Upon intake, less than the basic vitals were recorded (his temperature wasn’t even recorded and we were there for extreme fever). I relayed a lot of notes at intake but none of it was recorded. After sitting there for two hours without a word from anyone someone came by to take his basic vitals. This person did not appear to be a licensed practitioner. I requested that my sons temperature be taken and it was 40.1*. A nurse came by fifteen minutes later to administer paracetamol. That was it for another 90 minutes until the doctor arrived. No information about existing medicinal conditions (epilepsy) or the cause for the visit appeared to have been relayed verbally or in my sons chart. No chest x-ray was performed (the paramedic suggested they might do one based on the crackles in his chest). No bloodwork, urinalysis, or any other labs were performed. I was told it was “probably a viral infection” and to take my son home and if he doesn’t improve in 5-7 days then to come back and maybe they’d treat him with antibiotics for a bacterial infection. That was it. No tests. No lab work. Diagnosis? Maybe a virus but if not probably bacterial. So, we learned nothing new and no labs were performed. Overall, I might expect this if I were in a third world country—and this review is limited to the A&E as I cannot speak to the quality or qualifications of other departments—but next time I will be driving to London. My son continues to have high grade fever. Nothing has been treated and no treatment plan is in place. We were told we could just leave without any formal discharge process or care plan. Would not recommend unless it’s a fire emergency and time is of the essence.

The team who carried out my CT scan were the most cheerful, helpful and efficient staff I think I have ever experienced in the NHS. Nothing seemed too much trouble to them and although the process is quite short and non-invasive it can be quite daunting to the patient. The staff showed themselves as caring greatly for their patients and their job and, at a time when sections of our public services receive a bad press, sometimes quite rightly, it is only fair to applaud excellent ones when we come across them,

There was quite a long wait time but that's understandable. What's not acceptable is that once I finally got to see the consultant he did half the tests then gave me eye drops which impaired my vision without warning me first (I had to drive home) and told me I needed to wait 20 minutes for a further eye exam. I was waiting for over an hour and it wasn't until I called him out that he realised I was still there. He had been calling through other patients clearly trying to catch up while I was waiting. This is obviously unacceptable. There was also a nurse who was walking around the waiting rooms calling various people. She was cursing and complaining under her breath the entire time. I noticed some people there were made visibly uncomfortable by her lack of professionalism. And when I did finally get my eyes examined he said they didn't know what was causing the problem and there's nothing they could do. So essentially the entire thing was a waste of time anyway.

I had been referred to the urologist as I had visible blood in urine. I received a call and appointment for some tests quickly, but I have still no received the CT scan results which I had over 6 weeks ago. As I was told it was to check for Cancer, I have been anxiously waiting. It feels a long time to wait. It is 3 months ago since I had symptoms, so the long wait could effect the outcome and delay treatment if it is needed. Now there is a delay due to Christmas hols. I appreciate that everyone needs a break, but I am unsure why another urologist is not able to cover informing people of results.

The care was great the discharge was a joke took for ever and they knew we had to get back home after me having a so called heart attack and ending up in hospital. We cut the holiday short because of it. The discharge took for ever and we got home late because of it. If ever this happens again I’m not bothering getting any treatment at all. Discharge stuff could have been got ready the night before and just added the echo and blood test results in the following morning was totally disgusted in the discharge process. The food was disgusting was temped in ordering take always but having had a so called heart attack thought something would have been said. Ended up living on sandwiches from the Saturday till the tuesday on getting out. Was suggested to order take away but as i say was tempted but did not dare doing so.

I had an operation on my stomach in the day surgery unit and I couldn't fault it one bit. The doctors and nurses were so amazing you can tell they really care about their patients. My results weren't great and the surgeon was so supportive in making me feel better about this. Nurses in the day centre are so friendly and made me feel so comfortable and I was sent home with all the medication I needed and without any questions. Best medical care I've ever received!

My mother was in this hospital for 9 weeks & the communication has been very lacking since day one. No telephones are answered, messages not passed on, nurses or consultants not keeping family informed of treatments
