  1. Review titled Excellent department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Naturally I was very nervous attending an appointment for a colonoscopy and endoscopy, the care I received was outstanding, I couldn't fault the professional reassuring manner in which I was treated. The fact that the reports are given to you and explained at the end of the procedure is amazing, previously there has always been an anxious wait for results. Thank you to all the staff. Presently there are some many complaints against the NHS I feel it is important to give credit where it is due.

  2. Review titled Unnecessary Suffering

Rated 1 star out of 5

by BurnVictim - Posted on 20 September 2022

Girlfriend and I entered before midnight, with her in agony and tears of pain from some horrible burns. We were left sitting in the waiting room with no support for 2 hours before even seeing a triage. It took 3 or 4 visits to the desk pleading with them to even get any pain meds. After watching drunk people with minor sprains arrive after us and get seen before us it was clear that we weren't a priority. The time ticked on and it eventually crossed the threshold from night to morning. More pleading for pain meds fell on deaf ears and I was made to feel like a nuisance. No cold packs were offered, even though they were aware it was a serious burn. Halfway through our wait, we heard a voiceover with nurses/receptionists giggling and making silly noises over the system. To say it didn't particularly suit the mood would be an understatement. At about 5.30am, after being told for hours that they were very busy and were doing all they can, we watched as a nurse clutching a solitary piece of paper ambled out into the waiting room, shuffled over towards where we were sitting with the urgency of a brain-dead tortoise. With this kind of build up we were expecting some good news. "Name?" the nurse asked. My girlfriend answered and the nurse checked this against her now crumpled of paper. Saying nothing, she turned around and did her shuffle back through the door. I started laughing out of sheer bewilderment as to what I was bearing witness to. The laughter turned to anger as I saw her return with a blood pressure monitor. Her trademark shuffle once again carried her towards us with blood pressure monitor in tow. This was the the penultimate straw for us, as we expressed our annoyance at the fact they had already taken blood pressure, denied or ignored all our other requests for cold packs or pain relief and had essentially for lack of a better word been fobbing us off for the last 5/6 hours. I pleaded with this woman. I wasn't angry, I wasn't aggressive, I wasn't nasty in any way. I pleaded with her, as an NHS employee, someone who should have a duty of care, to go find out how much longer we would have to wait for a doctor to clean, assess and dress the blistered and peeling burns. She listened to me beg her for 3 or 4 minutes, only offering one, maybe two word responses - "Okay" or "We busy". I asked her to please ask a colleague how much longer it would be, "Okay" she mumbles. We watch her grab the blood pressure monitor, slowly turn around and shuffle towards the door, before stopping and deciding that she would actually ignore the pleas of two exhausted, desperate people in pain and converse with the security guard instead. Watching this, my girlfriend burst into tears once again and ran for the exit. I followed, but not before leaving both nurse and security guard with some very choice words. No doubt those words rolled over them like water off a ducks back, they couldn't have cared less. Northampton A&E feels like a third world country facility.

  4. Review titled Labour ward extremely understaffed

Rated 1 star out of 5

5 days and counting on the maternity observation ward waiting to be induced, loads of other woman waiting too, currently in the middle of a heatwave and no aircon in here either, the bays are very hot and it's difficult to sleep. I feel like we are being lied to and given false hope constantly, if you are planning an induction I would avoid this hospital.

  5. Review titled Professional, efficient, caring and considerate.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I brought my elderly mother into the Dermatology department today to have some lesions on her arms and legs looked at. The whole department came across as super well organised, everyone from the reception team who greeted us to the excellent doctor and consultant who examined my mother was calm, professional, knowledgeable and considerate. I was very impressed that, despite time pressure, things were explained kindly and patiently to my mother who has mild dementia. What's more, my mother was diagnosed, treated and after care explained in double quick time, but nothing about the appointment felt overly hurried. If you have a skin problem this is the hospital you want to get sent to.

  6. Review titled Outstanding Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kelly Jayne Pim - Posted on 13 August 2022

I rushed my son to A&E on Wednesday with suspected appendicitis and from the minute I arrived at reception I couldn’t have been looked after more! Andy on reception dashed out of his chair and assisted my son who could barely walk, with a wheelchair and took me straight to where I needed to be . The staff on the Disney Ward are fantastic! So friendly, so nothing is too much trouble and we have both felt like we are in a 5 star hotel. Everyone we have come into contact have been wonderful and we cannot say Thankyou enough!
