  1. Review titled Fantastic care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Butler - Posted on 08 December 2022

I was admitted for day surgery in the orthopaedic theatre. The surgery went very well thanks to the expert care and attention of the whole team. Whilst waiting for surgery I was admitted to Compton Ward where I stayed overnight and was discharged the day after surgery. Again I couldn’t fault the staff on this ward. The care I received was outstanding - all the staff were attentive, caring and respectful. The only negative comment is how difficult I found it to leave this feedback! I think it’s so important to give positive feedback when it’s justified particularly at the present time when there’s so much negativity around the NHS. I am very grateful for the care I received so thank you everyone at the NHS.

  2. Review titled Awful Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 November 2022

On Friday I attended the eye causality at NGH (but that’s a whole other story) in the following hours of Friday evening my condition worsened. I could no longer open my eyes and when I could pry them open slightly I could hardly see. 111 said I needed to attend A&E so I did just that. I was triaged quickly but then left sitting on a hard plastic chair in the waiting room for hours. I could not see and when asking the staff for assistance to consultations I was met with adversity. The whole team was uncaring, overworked and quite clearly stressed to their limits. I have a generalised anxiety disorder and the whole ordeal has caused me to feel traumatised and has triggered my problems with my mental health. The consultant who saw me seemed like she had no idea what she was doing and hadn’t a care in the world about my condition I had to request that she stopped interrupting me so that she could hear what my problem was. Reluctantly, she obliged. She kept coming back with half thought through solutions and it appeared as though she was blaming me for forgetting to bring one of the treatments for my eyes (I think I did well bringing 2 of the 3 considering I couldn’t see). Eventually they decided to flush my eyes with saline which was excruciating and consulted an on call eye doctor. Another consultant came and looked at my eye and said ‘no wonder they’re in pain they have an 8mm abrasion on their eye’ In the end all they did was give an anaesthetic that lasted 20 minutes, patched up my eye and told me to return to eye causality the next day. I hope I never in my life have to attend this A&E again. It is dirty, the staff have lost all love of their job and treat patients in a disgraceful manner. It is disappointing to see that this is the state of our NHS, I have never seen anything like it in my life.

  3. Review titled Very caring team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stuart Samuel Bamford - Posted on 14 December 2022

I had to attend the day surgery unit / general surgery in area K at Northampton General Hospital and welcomed by the the receptionist. I was a bit anxious but the receptionist explained to me in a very caring and professional manner of how I will be assessed and a few small questions and tests etc that the team will carry out, this had now put myself much more at ease knowing a little more about the procedures. Once in a room the team continued to be very caring and explaining everything that I needed to know and would answer any questions that I might like to ask and this continued with every person of the team from the very first member taking my blood pressure to the Doctor who would be carrying out my operation. The operation went well and when waking in the recovery ward the recovery team also showed a very caring and professional manner of making sure I was comfortable and a lovely cup of tea made for me. Once it was time for me to be picked up (of which they contacted the person collecting me) the original receptionist was once again there to help me from the recovery department to where I would be picked up. All in all I cannot thank this whole team enough to the attention, kindness and support that they gave me....Thank you all.

Tried calling cardiology waiting list office 3 times in 1 year because I needed a procedure was told by the consultant it was urgent and life threatening. Waiting list office told me not to keep calling they was very hostile towards me found this experience very stressful and didn’t help me at all. Later I was referred to Kettering cardiology department which was more understanding and helpful the whole experience with Northampton Cardiology department was absolutely awful get referred to Kettering cardiology department if you can Northampton general hospital you fail once more 🤭

  5. Review titled How has it got this bad?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 October 2022

Had the unfortunate experience of having to be in A&E last night to support a vulnerable resident- what I saw defied belief, tragic, and sad that our A&E is operating as if we are in a third-world country. Harrassed, rude, uncaring, and desensitized staff who I am sure to wish they could be anywhere else. Filthy floors and walls, a menacing security guard who refused to help an elderly man in pain asking for help when he dropped something on the floor. Absolutely horrific, the person I was supporting said 'it feels like we are in a horror movie'.... summed it up perfectly.

  6. Review titled Amazing staff on Walter Tull Ward

by Amazing NHS - Posted on 06 October 2022

My mum has been in and out of hospital over the last year and this time she ended up being transferred to Walter Tull Ward. My daughter and I both visited at different times, and we both thought the staff were really caring and spent time to get to know Mum. The ward had a really lovely welcoming feeling when we arrived and we didn’t feel like we were too much trouble, reading in between the lines we have felt like this in the past when we have arrived on to a busy ward. Mum received really good care and we didn’t feel like she was being discharged early, quite the opposite in fact. I’m an ex-nurse, and my daughter is a nurse too, and we both really wanted to say thank you, as your standard of care was absolutely brilliant!!

  8. Review titled Effective and thoughtful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 September 2022

Our child was admitted to Paddington Ward via A&E and the Paediatric Assessment Unit. All of the Doctors we saw were helpful and explained things clearly. The nurses on the Ward were lovely and patient with us and our child and went the extra mile to keep her happy whilst doing their job. Overall the service was really good.

  9. Review titled Shocking Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 September 2022

I brought my 77 year old mother to a&e as she was experiencing extreme confusion. She we waited a total of 10.5 hours on a hard chair without once going into a cubicle where she could lie down. She had bloods taken in a corridor and had to walk to x-ray despite being unsteady on her feet because there were no wheelchairs. There were also bowls of vomit left in the main waiting room for most of the day before being cleaned up. A truly shocking and disappointing day. The only light at the end of the tunnel were the mental health team who we finally got to see at 10pm.

  10. Review titled Caring and kind

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Daughter - Posted on 05 September 2022

My elderly frail father was taken to A & E Friday night 2 September 2022, following a fall at his nursing home. He could not move and was in excruciating pain in his hip. The nurse looking after him was very kind and efficient and the other chap who was with the nurse was also very good with my father especially as he’s deaf and has communication problems. The nurse kept us informed of what was going even though he was extremely busy. Just wanted to say thank you
