Review titled Wasting time and resources for both staff and patient
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 February 2023
My daughter required a tonsillectomy. She as called on on a previous occasion as a fill in. She took a day off work and arranged child care. She sat from 7.00am to mid day before being informed they had overbooked and so she was being sent home. Today she is attending the appointment that was formally arranged by letter. She was asked to arrive at 7.30am We have beèn sat in a room with strip lights blasting out everywhere. We are the only ones in the ward. We have now been told the surgery will not be until this afternoon. What I want to point out is what an absolute waste of tax payers money. No wonder the NHS is struggling. How much is spent on lighting and heating of areas that are not required. Not only this but the patients time sat unproductive for the country. The nurses are apathetic and fed up because they feel helpless and that no one is going to listen to them, so here I am sat with my daughter pointing out my observations. I understand surgeons can be called away for emergencies, but please please start joining up the dots at the top. Was it necessary to have a whole ward to sit one person in until their afternoon appointment!

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. We are so sorry to hear that this was your experience of our services, here at NUH we take all feedback seriously in order to improve our services. Our ENT department are currently working hard to ensure those who have been waiting for procedures are seen where possible, sometimes however due to unforeseen circumstances out of their control this can lead to a last minute cancellation. That being said I understand your concerns and agree that this must have been frustrating for your daughter. Please be assured we will pass this feedback onto the ENT department and ensure that the process and facilities for this is looked into and learned from. If you require more information or assistance with this matter please contact us at QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk

Review titled Caring and professional

My daughter had some metal removed from her leg last Monday. I would like to send a big thank you to the staff at the Children's Ambulatory Care Unit. The ladies there were absolutely lovely. I also would like to thank all the doctors and staff at the operation theatre. They all did their best to calm down their worried little patient. The surgery went without any complications. The lady in the recovery room (she's from the Philippines) was very nice and looked after her very well. Thank you everybody once again!

when i was transferred to this hospital i was sent to the A&E department due to my history of collapsing for further investigations, the staff that seen me first were very warm, welcoming and made me feel comfortable. they called me in for some tests and during one of the tests i collapsed which resulted in me being taken to resus where i spent several hours. one nurse in particular made me feel very comfortable and was checking on me regularly whilst offering a conversation and asked if i needed anything whilst the others didn't seem to bother much, they just kept walking past and were looking at me like i was a burden to them. i had people walking into my cubicle to pass through to the one next door to me even though all the cubicles had their own curtains which i felt was wrong as i had almost no privacy and when the doctors and consultants were doing a walk around they kept saying they don't know me and what was wrong with me and just walked off to the next patient who they seemed to know a lot about even though they just arrived. i find that each time I'm here the staff just don't want me as they always go on about needing the space and move me about to different ward. i cant comment on the other departments but for the resus and major incidents ward i can as i felt like i didn't wanna be there as nobody would talk to me and nobody knew what was going on with me. they just seemed to want to get rid of me quickly.

Thank you so much for providing us with feedback on your experience in our A&E department and the way you describe the different areas means we can identify where we need more support for our patients. I have of course sent this comment over to the ED Management for review. The patient experience is the most effective way to see what our services are like from the Patient's side and by providing feedback such as this means we can make changes however small to improve this. Review titled Eye emergency

I was triaged over the telephone and told to attend the following day. My call was answered promptly and helpful. I received a call back within the hour and advised to attend following day. I attended today and was treated kindly by all staff and informed at all times what would be happening. The department was very busy but I observed good communication with all the patients waiting and there appeared to be a good system in place for Patients being dealt with. I had good outcome from all tests and advice and felt that I was dealt with promptly and Dr (AM)took the time to answer my concerns .As a previous employee at QMC it was nice to have a good patient experience. Thanks to all staff this morning

Hi Stella Thank you so much for providing this amazing feedback! I will pass this on to the department and I know they will be delighted. They always work hard to ensure that patients are seen when they need to be and in a timely manner so when someone post’s something like this it reiterates to them that things are going well and that the service is appreciated. Review titled Excellent service

Your Review: I came into the labour suite for the delivery of my second child on the 7th January 2023. I cannot fault the service of everyone involved throughout the whole labour. They were supportive and knowledgable, informing us of every step and took into account my previous experience, to help put us at ease. The registrar and senior registrar were excellent and I felt I was in safe hands the whole time. The midwife was very calm and knowledgeable and was attentive to my needs. I also attended triage and the day assessment unit as well and I feel separating the two units works effectively. I did not have to wait, was seen to promptly and effectively monitored. We were thoroughly impressed with our experience and would highly recommend this maternity service.

I had an emergence at home the previous evening and contacted my consultants secretary and she took the details, I was called straight back within an hour. My consultant put my mind at rest and advised me on how to deal with my situation. Amazing doctors and admin staff too, always so helpful!

Review titled Hostile and uncaring
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Lucy Allnutt - Posted on 20 January 2023
Several years on still unable to access any form of psychological help for my child who has several long term physical health conditions; Nobody wants to help. Unfortunatly, after many years of frequent and ongoing appointments, 'professionals' are often found to be uncaring, judgmental and incredibly unprofessional. Both my child and I dread our regular, unavoidable visits to this Notts hospital due to the continuous lack of support and hostility. What have we done to deserve this treatment? It's appalling.
