Visited eye casualty today for a possible foreign object in my eye. The department was busy but the staff were still very nice and polite. The waiting area was clean and welcoming. Fantastic service received by all. Was triaged, seen an sorted in 2 hours by lovely staff. My eye feels 100% better now. Thank you so much to you all. You do an amazing job!

  2. Review titled Brilliant care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Shane Morgan - Posted on 25 January 2023

I had an ultrasound and needle biopsy today and I want to say thank you to the consultant radiologist and nurse. I didn't know what to expect and felt very nervous but I was treated with real care and consideration, every step of the procedure was clearly explained and the nurse let me hold her hand! I really felt like a person, not just an anonymous patient. Thank you both so much.

Hello, I am Alexandrine. I was taken by paramedics living with my uncle and aunt on the night of December 25 to December 26 for pneumonia with a flu. I wanted to thank you for your welcome, your professionalism and the kindness of the doctors and nurses. You were great. You saved my life. A very big thank you. I am French and I would like French hospitals to take your example. Congratulations. Very respectfully

  4. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 December 2022

Very very poor service an bad manner. Everyone ignores my requests when I simply asked for pain killer for my headache. I’m having a drip here and keep asking for the same thing more than 10 times. And now still lying here without any attention. I can’t believe how bad this is.

  5. Review titled Smoking in the main doorway

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Julie Turner - Posted on 02 January 2023

Why oh why is this not monitored hoards of people smoking at the entrance (where an ambulance was bringing/taking a patient on a bed) we went out for for fresh air Absolutely no chance I needed my mask because just outside the entrance where there are signs no smoking area there are loads of people puffing away and because there’s a cover there’s just no air except smoke!!! There’s a sign saying no smoking on hospital grounds so why oh why are people allowed to smoke directly outside the entrance doors!!!

  6. Review titled Car park

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 December 2022

Had a disabled badge yet the car park was full of people waiting for people visiting as they didn’t want to pay! When I finally begged someone to give up the space and went to the car parking booth told no staff on nothing I can do! Well does that mean you can park where you like and he said yes! What kind of service are you running for the disabled people who visit !!!! Discussing on all levels

We’re very sorry to hear that this was your experience as a disabled parking badge holder coming to our hospital – this is not what we would want to happen to anyone, and it is disappointing to hear the response you received when you tried to raise this with a member of staff. We’d like to know more about what happened so we can bring this to the attention of our Estates and Facilities Management – if you are able to help us do this, please get in touch by emailing the Patient Experience Team at QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk.

  8. Review titled A&E chaos and not person centred

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Colin Edis - Posted on 15 December 2022

My experience of A&E when visiting with my aged mother was quite disturbing; the day in question, Monday 12th December seemed like a busy day but it was clear that patients were not, in their hour of great need, being treated with dignity or respect. It seemed as though the very fact that someone is in A&E means that they have to surrender any hope of a dignified experience. Can that be acceptable? Also it was almost impossible to gain any information about my mother’s progress or diagnosis whilst I appreciate of course that a diagnosis doesn’t happen straight away. But staff seem to go out of their way to avoid eye contact so that they don’t need to engage with family. There were lots of staff on duty the vast majority of whom were looking at computer screens rather than engaging with patients or family members. I appealed to a group of eight or ten medics sitting around desks and only one young doctor looked up and tried to help. It was as though I was just being a hindrance for asking a simple question. I do not know how this gets fixed as it’s a massive issue but you encourage reviews so here it is.

Hi Colin, Thank you for your review this is not the standard that we expect you to receive from our service and we appreciate you raising this with us. I have forwarded your response on to the department in order for this experience to be learned from and a change to be made in the future. The staff in A&E are under a tremendous amount of pressure at present, however this doesn’t excuse the fact you felt so uninformed and undignified and we're so very sorry to hear this. I hope that you mother is ok, and on the road to recovery now. If you would like to speak to us more regarding your experience please email us on QMC.PET@nuh.nhs.uk.

  9. Review titled Great initially but follow is dreadful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by William Robinson - Posted on 20 June 2023

I was seen for double vision on 21 December 2022 and a prism fitting to my glasses with a promise of a follow up in two months. Now it is 6 months after my initial visit and apart from been asked to have bloods taken and being told I am in a black book. I have not heard a dickie bird from them. I have no idea if I should continue to use the prism or am I training my left eye into not working correctly. I cannot even speak to the department. If i should need to continue to wear the prism then now I need a new one. I just wish someone there gave a dam

  10. Review titled Excellent treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jude Warrior - Posted on 22 December 2022

Referred by Loughborough Walk-In to Accident & Emergency at Queens Medical Centre with heart palpitations & existing heart condition. Despite obviously being incredibly busy with people waiting in corridors on trolleys, I had only a short wait, was quickly assessed and sent to the Acute Medicine Receiving Area team. They were obviously also extremely busy and eventually required to find overnight beds in their dept. for 4 of us. It was all done with courtesy and respect and at no point was the stress they were under conveyed to me, the Patient. I can only say 'thank you so much' to the Acute Medicine Receiving Area team and everyone else in Queens Medical Centre for being so thorough, putting my mind at rest and managing to remain cheerful when under such ongoing pressure.
